  • the very best legs in the showbiz

  • Awesome as always. Chrissie if you ever need a guitar player look me up!

  • News flash to all! We will all eventually look our age.

  • Chrissie has 10 years on me and I've had the hots for her since the 80,, wonder if I'd have shot at that 60 year old lady now?? I wish!! Still SMOKE'N HOT even today @60, Chrissie

  • awesooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomeeeeeeeeee chrissie rules fuck sob letterman he is corporate shill

  • awesooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomeeeeeeeeee chrissie rules

  • And Chrissie looks as HOT as ever, maybe even more so.

  • and walter jr's challenger goes boom

  • This is how all women should look at her age.

  • back here and repeat until you LEARN LEARN LEARN!

  • Thats so PUNK new respect for the pretenders

  • All want to say is that I would have killed that butt and those legs when I was in my 20's thinking about have those features in my mid 50's .. that is a different song and different band.."Dream On".. I just love this woman, her song writing and guitar talent plus the way she has faced her personal challenges. humm an artist who shows up on stage fully dressed without a 30M boob job and just gives it everything she has.

  • Now I'm ready to blow up a Dodge Challenger

  • Yet another video where David Letterman skips through members of the band to only shake the lead singer's hand (he did this for Elvis Costello, too). Does he realize that it's totally a dick move or is he just that stupid and unaware? Still respect him for having some great music on the show every so often.

  • Well LOL, you've got my thumbs up... Hell of a song :-)

  • If you're here because of Breaking Bad, you know what to do...

  • Live.

Got to love a band that can put it out on the spot without faking it.

  • Rock the fuck on Chrissie!

  • Chrissie Hynde is a American Rock and Roll Fucking Icon...Too Precious?.....yes now Fuck Off! The New Mt Rushmore...Tina Turner ..Ann Wilson, twice ....Chrissie Hynde.

  • I bet she seduced Letterman and fucked him. Look how familiar she is with him after the song and his reaction (married now)

  • I ran into them at O'Hare airport, Chicago, froze, didn't have the nerve to ask for an autograph. Just stared like a moron.

  • @DrWGONZALEZ ...prob what i would do. ga-ga-ga....

  • Can I please be the mother of Chrissie's children? My wife is totally cool with it.

  • @amin1950 ......that's a great response.....fuck these kid's today......don't have a fucking clue how music got into their I pods ....20 years from now they will be forced to listen to their Auto Tune Classics.

  • They don't make em like this anymore!

  • she looks amazing for her age

  • That was relentless .... I guess that sums her spirit.

    thats how to live.

  • I freakin' love her!!! Awesome performance!!

  • Good job David Letterman! You got a great band on your show. I saw Bon Jovi on the show sometime last year. Great 80's90's band! They did a single off one of their latest album. Sorry to say but the Pretenders sounded more confident in their instruments and singing. It might have been Bon Jovi's sound system. It happens.

  • Awesome!

  • Saw her do this live, just days after "Break up the Concrete" was released. She seemed almost apologetic to the audience for taking a break from covering her old hits to do something new. Then she busts into this song, and rocked the house. It is as solid lyrically as musically. Some of her best stuff in years. The old gal still looks great, sounds great and has the magic.

  • Lyrics, so good. Doesn't even try just natuarally amazing.

  • That break concrete and steel. Better than album verision. Why is that... Same thumbelina is better on letterman show. Interesting.

  • I've seen them live twice, 25 years apart, and her voice is better now than ever before. Keep rocking!!

  • The Bitch can still ROCK!!!!!

  • Ha!!!! Oh WOW!!!!! This is damn good. Have mercy on Chrissie? She needs no mercy here, that fine, fine seasoned beauty in this human pageantry. Pride of Akron, let me tell you. And Martin Chambers is still the best. If Tattooed Love Boys didn't kill him, then clearly nothing will.

  • Raddest chick in rock n roll?

  • Danm! RAD : 0

  • The BEST rock version of this song. Dynamite!

  • Why would she kiss that sleeze Letterman??

    Otherwise she's awesome!!

  • Why would she kiss that sleeze Letterman??

  • Chrissie looks ok but nena kerner who is around thd same age looks better.Chrissie looks a bit alike nena

  • Those bangs! The best we've seen since Charlie Sheen's motel room.

  • i loved this fantastic woman. RESPECT from Panama

  • There's an awful lot of comments about Chryssie's age here. Well ya know what..? I don't care what her age is. The woman is drop-dead gorgeous, period. And also one of the most talented people that I have ever seen.

  • Great performance. Great lyrics - as ever

  • They both came on the scene around 1950, and since then nobody has ever looked prettier with a Telecaster strapped around her neck than Chrissie Hynde.

  • lettermans a jerk he tried to rape a girl in his office her husbands going to slice his dick off

  • @spacepatrolman tell us more?who what where when why whatev do it diddhee damdam?(faster)

    when does the slicing begin?(fast)

  • @zaoribah I dont divulge names of crime victims

  • Beautiful creature! one of the sexiest in the whole world....

  • Glorious noise..ahh Chrissie

  • It's the voice and those -BANGS- !!!

  • Holy crap... She's 57 in this video... can we say GILF?

  • Saw their concert in Melbourne, Australia last night - fantastic!!!!

  • Pretenders are good on Letterman

  • Chrissie, I would lick your boots. What a smokin' performance.

  • Awesome band, awesome performance. Martin Chambers is the rock.

  • Holy Crap did they all rip that song the hell to pieces! That was the hell of a performance!

  • No doubt about it. Chrissie Hynde has the sexiest voice in rock and roll. Even on a truckin' rocker like this, she still manages to sound like a 1-900 phone number on wheels. A singular talent who layed down the template for every female rocker since.Still bringin the punk attitude, kickin' ass and takin' names. You had me at "hello", babe

  • I echo KobezBro, Chrissie Hynde looks amazing for a 57-year-old woman, although her eyes are obscured by her bangs and mascara. Still, her cheeks show no obvious wrinkling or roughness. I wonder if her vegetarian diet is one of the reasons.

  • silk baby.... chrissy is one of the top 3 women ever in rock and roll... maybe the top?

  • Killer song. Has the energy of the original Pretenders on the first 2 LPs. Love her voice and writing...and Martin's drumming. One of the few bands I'd love to play bass with.

  • Sounds, lyrics, movement all bourne of Chrissie herself. GORGEOUS, and IN-Person, gracious AND BEAUTIFUL.

  • Con las botas aún esta más buena, los años parece que para ella,no sea un problema.

  • I'm not talkin about Chrissy's Levis.

  • go CHRISSY! you ROCK!

  • thank-god for itunes and the ability to buy only one track from an album of fillers and stinkers... honestly the only song worth listening to on that album is "break up the concrete" the rest seem to have been dones while they were all high on acid or something

  • I'm pretty sure you were high on acid when you made this post.

  • they haven't changed in 35 years. love it.

  • I agree. Martin Chambers is an incredibly underrated drummer! And somehow the mutton chops still work. hehe

  • it aint boots of spanish leather-of that i am sure

  • INfuckin'DEED.....

spastic with boots of Chinese plastic

  • ASS KICKER as always

  • great

  • performance: balls out!

  • Martin Chambers....can drive any grooooooooove!

  • Yes. Love Nam Myo-ho Ren-ge kyo songs.

  • After all these years, I still get a throbbing for Chrissie. She's so special.

  • Well said. Very few artists have maintained their trademark sound and can still keep it Rock & Roll.

  • Martin still has the chops too! ;p

  • Hare Krishna,

  • sorry to all the modern day posers.. you fucks will never be this good !!

GOD THIS IS AWESOME FUCKING MUSIC !!!

  • Man, that breakdown/bridge at 1:33 is killer :-D

  • She just keeps on rockin'. gotta love it.

  • I've always loved her and the rest of the band too. They do different types of songs really well too.

  • Saw her a week ago in Chicago...bad ass show, so much energy. They rocked really hard.

  • Damn. bad ass shit for a gal in her 50s...

    Go Chrissie. Canton, OH.

  • @jdmars02 Simply amazing she sure is that!

  • @jdmars02 Actually she's from Akron. My hometown too :)

  • Really shows off her punk rock roots - I love it.

  • Crissie Owns a vegetarian restaurant in Clevland (maybe Columbus) Ohio... I cant wait to eat there.

  • Akron

  • Chrissie is one kick ass musician!

  • Hi Chrissie, Hi Martin and others.

I can't wait to see you in concert next monday in Paris.

i love your music. Great song.

  • I LOVE this! she kicks ass. real women only get better with time.

  • CH is timeless and never has given a sh** about what the public thought..even though she was a house hold name once. Let's praise her for her big mouth and honesty in this industry of parasitic, money grubbing prostitutes and materialistic whores! She is last in line.....Godspeed.

  • If just the album was as good as this song.

  • The Yeah Yeah Yeah's Karen O would be a awsome replacement for Chrissie.

  • there is no replacement, saw her last week in berlin, talked with the drummer after show, she gave no autographs, into the bus and away,i love her,she rockt me at my shoulder,no substitude

  • she's hot!! they still kik ass

just as good, if not better, than the yeah yeah yeahs

  • i'm sure the words were sung "can you help a little red-neck vegan on her knees...." which sounds a lot more like crissie talking self-effacingly (and tongue in cheek) about herself.=)

  • No, I don't think she considers herself a red neck at all. And she doesn't say that in the song.

"Pity Humble a little peasant beggin' on her knees"

  • no one ever asks old bluesmen to pack it up 'coz they're too old...=/

  • she rips harder than any emo crap you can find

  • Goddamn. Watch her work.

  • Nam myoho renge kyo buddha please......

  • I saw the band in LA a couple of weeks ago. She doesn't look old to me, but I'm 53. The band is absolutely incredible and it was one of the best rock n shows I've ever seen. She was awesome. She's 57 and going strong.

  • Well-lucky for us-Chrissie has lived by her own standards and still does, and has not given into having plastic surgery-you gotta love that and her too. There is no female rocker that comes close to Chrissie Hynde.

  • she don't look old. she has aged since 1979 but you couldnt tell she was almost 60

    it's the veggies.

  • @KobezBro Wow, she ages well!

  • @KobezBro

meet the veggies ! meet the veggies !

  • @KobezBro She definitely looks her age if you see her up close.

  • Long live the Pretenders !

  • CHRISSIE- - WILL YOU MARRY ME!!!

  • Anyone gonna give some kudos to friggin Martin Chambers?! Damn, he still rocks the kit!

  • Yeah, he does. The guy's got the patience of a saint. Anyone who would still play with Chrissie Hynde after she went ahead and made "Break Up the Concrete" without him and didn't even tell him, I take my hat off to them.

This is really the only song I can stomach. I used to really like the Pretenders, but the only album I dislike more than "Break Up The Concrete" is "Get Close."

  • Yeah, I don't know the whole deal with Keltner playing on the album, but supposedly they're all friends.

  • Someone did an interview with Martin after the album came out. It seems she was looking for a sound that she didn't think he was capable of doing.

If I'm not mistaken, Keltner did some time as one of the rotating drummers the band had while Martin was out. I do know that he was one of the drummers who contributed a solo to Roger Daltrey's "Under a Raging Moon"--which Martin also played on (his is the second solo).

  • Chrissie Had never worked with Keltner before "Concrete"

And she did tell Martin she was going to use Keltner instead of him before the start of the Album and he said he was a bit surprised by it but ultimately everything was cool in the end.

  • what do you think of this particular song?

  • This and the title track were the only ones I could listen to on "Break Up the Concrete." I'm sorry, for me, the Pretenders best days ended with "Learning to Crawl." I really think that they should have considered giving it up when Farndon and Honeyman-Scott died. They just haven't been the same since.

  • I don`t agree. "Loose Screw" is nice ! But maybe Chrisse could leave the band to start her own singing career, something like Annie Lennox. Chrissie has such a phenomenal voice and she is a brillant music composer, we can`t lose her !

  • Well, for a while she did. After all, until she made up with Martin Chambers, the Pretenders were her and whatever session musicians she was playing with at the time. I think it might be kinda hard for Chrissie to break away with a solo album and not have it be considered a Pretenders album, even if it's just her.

  • Agreed cub, this is one of their better "newer" songs, of course the band that gave us the progressive punk song "Tatooed Love boys" died a long time ago

  • Chrissie Rocks!

  • oh my word! thank you for sharing this !!

  • she looks great, and has that spirit inside of her. other people of her generation just go through the motions, it seems. chrissie rocks, yep!

  • One more thing....THANK GOD GRACED US WITH CHRYSSIE HYNDE!

  • so wait?...Chryssie Hynde is like 58 years old and still rocking her ass off? She's effin' amazing...and still looks fantasic (in her boots of Chinese plastic) lol. No..seriously...this woman is kick ass talented.

  • I absolutely love her and The Pretenders ever since 1979. Just saw them Friday night at Pala Casino. She rocks & has this aura about her. She brings so much power into a room when she walks in.

  • Their best song in years! Brava Chrissie! Bless you and thank you for helping the animals!

  • not sure about all the drama here-Chrissie always gets out front and gets it done! shes timeless!

  • times have changed

  • You're right. Chrissie's 57, not 27.

  • thats a different song... :-P

  • I know it's a different song(Tatooed Love Boys). I just prefer their older songs.

  • i know you know its a different song; I was poking a little fun at you, for somewhat complaining about this absolutley rocking song for some nostalgic reverie of a song, now, over 30 years old.

    :-P

  • AND....I have fifth row center for the Silver Legacy Show..Yippee!!!

  • Hooray! I'll catch them in SF - last show!

  • hey if you get extra tix...I'm serious. I missed out on getting them for the sf show. contact me here and I'll buy them off of you! I can never get enough of Chrissie Hynde!

  • i love chrissie

  • Is the dude on pedal steel the same guy that played pedal steel for The Jayhawks on the Rainy Day Music tour?

  • Cool, but how come Gerard Depardieu's on pedal steel?

  • "Pedal steel? Is that a new fragance for guys?"

-- said any one of the Jonas Brothers

  • this is waay funnier than Boots of Spanish Leather.

  • i think live is better than track.
