The theory was -- point-particles influenced by a single field having different manifestations; i.e. unified field theory. Bohr's model of atom was based upon this theory. Lord Kelvin endorsed the theory as being correct.Catholic Church claims Boscovich is the "Father

of Modern Atomic Physics".

I sometimes think that people were so shocked of the horrors of the mass

killings of the Atom- Bomb, that they like to go into denial about talking

about the theory that led to the bomb.

They miss out the theory. Rutherford, JJ Thomson, Bohr et al, were all working from the same theory. Namely Boscovich's theory. Lancelot Law Whyte went to Cambridge to study and Rutherford told him that they were not interested in studying the theory, but instead only wanted to do experimental work. Hence Whyte went to Germany to study the theory, met Einstein.
