  • I'm crazy about this song

  • 4:08, yes.

  • @330 Catfish: by "gave up" I meant "gave up on following Christ"

    ....it's not easy

  • @SkatinginEmerica

also, there is a pro surfer named Bethany Hamilton whose arm was bitten off by a shark when she was ~13. When asked if she could go back to that horrible day and not surf she answered no, because she couldn't reach as many people with two arms as she could with one. Sometimes "bad" things happen to strengthen us and allow us to encourage others. It's too bad John gave up because he could have encouraged a lot of people through his music.

  • @MuffinGalactic what do you mean by gave up?

  • @SkatinginEmerica you're right, it seems that John's singing that he can't trust Jesus anymore because of all the bad things that happen in the world. It sounds like he believes in God but is choosing not to claim or trust Him because of all of his strife. One thing most people don't realize is that much of our strife comes from making bad decisions or other people making bad decisions. God gave us free will and we abuse it. How boring it would be if we didn't have free will, though!

  • jesus fucking christ you religious nut jobs need to stop infiltrating our sacreligious, good music. go listen to your christian rock or whatever

  • /watch?v=k0gsduLrfSU

Play this on a lower volume while this song is playing. Most peaceful and real feeling imaginable.

  • this song is so awesomely intense

  • fuck the bible... i use the pages to wiipe my ass after i have a brutal shit!!!!

  • @gothix666616 hahah! <3

  • Do you know what "uncleanness" means in the context of this law? When was this law given and to who? Also, prove that the original text in Hebrew states a different law.

  • This song reminded me of dreaming that i almost cryed on a top of a skyscraper, screaming at the sky, why the world's so raw & selffish.

  • I typed 'Emotional Music' and this is what I got. This truly is the very first "emotional" song I heard so far this year. It is so fucking sublime that it makes me want to bury myself somewhere far far away where no1 can ever find me. Deeply touched.

  • since the first time i heard this track i was hooked......

  • john the revelator

  • Amongst all the bands I've ever known, only Joy Division's songs could be compared to this in terms of INTENSITY. Fuck me, incredible! One of these I know I shall never forget.

  • 0 Dislikes! Bout time we all agreed.

  • fuck i got about a 2 minute video of this in minneapolis 10/29/10, Johns face was so full of emotion it looked like he was cringing in pain, quite moving

  • wow!

  • Going to watch em in Frisco on the 20th!

  • I keep listening to this track, over and over again! Lovely!

  • woahh!

  • Wow!

  • I can relate so much with this, an abandonent of faith, breaks me down all over again...

  • This is the most incredibly raw song I've heard in a long time. I can't even think of any other song that approaches this level of honesty and emotion. It's like hearing a dieing man scream as crows pick off his bleeding scabs. Absolute Genius. It also reminds me why every radio station in my city sucks ass. No DJ would ever play a song of this numbing intensity. Cars would fly off streets, freeways, bridges, and rightly so. That day is coming for certain.

  • @HMG5588 Amen.

  • @HMG5588 i 2ed that loved them for years

  • @RAIDIOFACE Christ will return on May 21, 2011. We have exactly 4 weeks left to pray for mercy, forgiveness, grace, & salvation. On May 21, a massive world wide earthquake will begin to circle the globe until every city is destroyed. Millions will die. Other millions will be mortally injured. And all the saved of Christ will rise to Heaven in an instant. Pray that you rise with them. Pray for the forgiveness of your sins. Google wwwdotfamilyradiodotcom. This is NOT a joke. This is TRUTH.

  • @HMG5588 You are so dumb, you are really dumb.

  • Dumb for what?

  • @HMG5588 so how did that work out for ya? May 21st has passed. no worries though, i am sure you will fill your mind with other delusions for the time being :)

  • Comment removed

  • @HMG5588 DID YOU FEEL THAT!!! Thank God I survived this. . . I've never been so afraid in my life. . . I'm sorry for the millions who weren't so fortunate. . . You know what? I'll say a prayer for them. . .

I don't know why but I only found out about Deer tick a month ago or so!! Shame on me!! But i'm catching up quick and bought the albums; Brilliant. . . Hope they'll be coming to tour the Netherlands soon :-)

  • @HMG5588 Your delusions make me laugh at how some one can be so gullible and naive.. i dont see how someone can believe in something that is nothing but a rumor. Im willing to bet you believed in y2k also didnt you?

  • @HMG5588 The bible says His hour is unknown. "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only."

(Matthew 24:36, cf Mark 13:32). Posting stuff like that is no way to convince people to follow Christ, it only makes you appear crazy. I choose Christ for His love.

  • @Doorknobsarefunable You committed a horrible sin. You purposely misquoted those verses. Go read them again. DO NOT LEAVE OUT A SINGLE WORD. EVERY WORD IN THE BIBLE IS THE WORD OF GOD AND MUST NEVER BE IGNORED. SHAME ON YOU!!! AND YOU HAVE PROVEN BEYOND ALL DOUBT THAT YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THOSE WORDS MEAN!!!

  • @HMG5588

The bible was written by man and translated over 100 times....you have no idea what it originally said or meant.

  • @eerawb Wrong. The Bible was written by prophets chosen of God. They wrote the scriptures in three languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. The King James Bible, being the most accurate translation to English available for over 400 years was translated from original Biblical texts to English by Oxford and Cambridge university language scholars hand picked by King James himself. Do your homework and drop your prejudice. It's disgusting as your attitude is towards the Word of God. Shame on you.

  • @HMG5588

King James was a pedophile who changed "the word of god" to suit his political and personal goals.

  • @eerawb Provide examples of where the Bible was changed by King James to suit his goals.

  • @HMG5588

    one word....Divorce.

  • @eerawb Explain that. Give me the book, chapter, and scripture which you claim King James changed in the Bible. What did he change regarding divorce? I highly suspect you got your historical facts wrong.

  • @HMG5588

Deuteronomy 24:1-2...before his translation was ordered, it was not cool in the pope's eyes to get a divorce. He wanted one.... with the right "translation" he shifted the context to what it is now, that it's okay to divorce if you find that bitch to be unclean.

I highly suspect you believe everything you read in very old, very outdated books.....and you don't check your sources.

  • @DaltonWRogers No shit. What's your point?

  • @HMG5588 ha historical? hahahahahaha

  • @SuperEmcg You don't think the Bible is a historical record for the creation of the universe and the human race? Have you even read the Bible or are you totally ignorant of what it says?

  • @HMG5588 no i dont and why would i when i believe in sience and the evolution of man. Maybe i was being a bit to harsh but the bible is not ment to be held as 100% historically accurate ask and priest or whoever is head of your church, to me all the bible is , is story's that teach you to be a better person with morals etc... not a document that is 100% right

  • @SuperEmcg Evolution is a theory. It's not a fact. For example, where did DNA come from and how did it evolve to form living cells and living creatures? Answer that. You can't. No one can. The Bible can. God created life. The Bible say so. And also the Bible IS historically correct. Archeology has proven that many times. You never read the Bible. And you don't know anything about Israel's history do you? No. You don't. You're holding false beliefs based on your own laziness to read. Jackass.

  • @HMG5588 just because they don't know the answer to everything yet, doesn't mean we should stop trying to figure it out and just say "oh God did it." time and time again the Bible has been proven false and science has shown how the universe, stars and planets, and intelligent life can come about due to the laws of physics.

i just choose not to believe in a God that would rip apart children by the use of bears, but i guess it's a personal choice.

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy Name 1 Biblical fact that has been proven wrong? Are you saying that if a bear kills a child, it's God's fault? What about a mother who kills her own child? Is that God's fault too? If an airliner crashes & kills everyone on board plus 100s on the ground, is that God's fault too? Your problem is the most the EVIL HUMAN PROBLEM OF ALL. YOU REFUSE TO ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR CHOICES!!! SHAME ON YOU!!! SHAME ON YOUR FAMILY FOR RAISING YOU AS THEY HAVE!!!

  • @HMG5588 Bible says the Earth is no older than 10,000 years, the Earth is 4.6 billion years old.

and i'm not saying if a bear kills a child it's Gods fault. read 2 kings 2: 23,24.

and lastly you have no idea what i'm like in real life, you have never met me and probably never will. i accept responsibility for my choices because thats what a mature person does. and i'm a nice person with good morals because i want to be, not because i'm afraid God will have me tortured for eternity if i don't...

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy No. God created the earth in 6-24 hour days in 11,013 BC. The entire system of time was developed in the Bible to begin with. The science of dating rocks to be 4.6 billion years old involves a litany of assumptions dealing with the concentration of radioactive material in a given rock to begin with. It takes "faith" in all that scientific guessing to believe they have it right. They don't. The Bible is the only source of Truth. But the world is blind to it. So be it.

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy Another lie that you have accepted without investigation is your belief that God plans to torture those not saved in a pit of fire for all eternity. That is not what the Bible states. The Bible states that an unsaved person will die both physically and spiritually. The body will either be buried to rot to nothing or be burned in a fire pit to be reduced to dust. The soul is dead and ceases to exist in any form. Hell is nothing more than total annihilation from existence.

  • @HMG5588 actually i agree with you. i was raised in a Christian sect that always taught there was no hell. i'm sorry that i assumed you were one of the majority that do believe in hell.

there are also other ways of measuring the Earths age, even though radiometric dating is accurate enough. the fact that we can see other galaxies that are millions of light years away with the naked eye means the Earth must be older than thousands of years. and have you ever heard of geomagnetic reversal? (cont.)

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy (cont.) it's when the Earths magnetic poles completely flip. it can happen every 100,000 to 1,000,000 years and it has happened many times. minerals in solidified molten lava will point in certain directions based on the direction of the magnetic field. thats how they know it has happened many times.

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy I don't think you're aware how radiometric dating is done. Buy a book about it & read it. If you're going to believe a thing, at least become familiar with it enough to have "faith" in it. About galaxies & other stars: You have no clue that those objects are really there. What you see is a stream of light coming from something that may not even exist. That's the paradox of the universe. Even the sun isn't where we think it is in the sky. It's where it was 9 minutes ago.

  • @HMG5588 you keep assuming that i haven't done any research or reading on the matter. i was actually raised a hardcore Christian and i have changed my beliefs because i DID do a lot of research on it. i know how radiometric dating works. and as for your comment about the other galaxies, thats probably your worst response yet. even if for some reason those galaxies up and vanished, they certainly were there at one time.

and you still never answered about 2 Kings and geomagnetic reversal.

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy How does radiometric dating work?

  • @HMG5588 well from what i understand they measure the "half life" or decay rate of certain elements. elements can have a half life ranging from 3 seconds to 49 billion years. when igneous rock is first solidified the clock is "zeroed" and by measuring the amount of decay that has happened since it was zeroed, they can get an approximate idea of how old that rock is. when all the radiometric clocks point to one general age, you can be fairly confident it's correct.

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy You forgot a MAJOR point. You have to know how much radioactive material was present in a rock when that rock was first formed on day 1. Then after x number of years, you measure how much radioactive material is left and how much nonradioactive isotopes have formed in those years to calculate the age using the decay rate of the radioactivity. NO ONE KNOWS HOW MUCH MATERIAL WAS THERE ON DAY 1!!! THEY ARE ALL MAKING GUESSES AT IT!!! GUESS UPON GUESS REAPS BULLSHIT!!!

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy THE SAME BULLSHIT GUESS WORK APPLIES TO CARBON 14 DATING. The only accurate method of dating any material is the written language found in every ancient society. Also astronomy and the repeatable celestial observations in the night sky are all accurate methods of dating events in history. For example, King Solomon ruled Israel from 971 BC to 931 BC. He began building the Temple of God in his 4th year of his reign, 967 BC. 480 years prior, Moses left Egypt in 1447 BC.

  • @HMG5588 okay lets just forget radiometric dating completely and pretend it doesn't exist. there are still the distance of galaxies and geomagnetic reversal. south america and africa used to be together, but are drifting apart very slowly. too slow to be one piece only several thousand years ago.

so i take it you believe in Noahs ark then?

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy Calculating the distance to a star depends on making an assumption that the Hubble constant is in fact "constant" all throughout time. That's an ASSUMPTION! The same applies to plate tectonics. The rate of plate movement is ASSUMED to be constant. The Bible states that on May 21, 4990 BC God destroyed the world with a flood. Around 3100 BC the Tower of Babel was built in Iraq. God destroyed it with an earthquake. Then God split the land into today's continents.

  • @HMG5588 your entire belief in God and the Bible is based on an ASSUMPTION that the Bible is true and is inspired by God. maybe it was written by men who had no explanation for what they saw around them? it's so beautiful and intricate that it must be designed.

the Bible claims God made day and night before he made the Sun. it says he made animals before man, then says he made man but had not yet made animals. Noahs ark is impossible and ridiculous in so many ways. fairy tales.

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy The Bible states that God Himself was the light of the world before the sun existed. You were ignorant of that scripture as you are ignorant of the Bible in total.

  • @HMG5588 and just ignore all the other points i made... you believe in an all loving and perfect God that isn't all loving and is flawed because there are flaws in his creation.

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy Name one flaw.

  • @HMG5588 laryngeal nerve, human eye, the fact that our sun is eventually going to turn into a red giant and engulf the inner solar system and pretty much all natural disasters on Earth. how could the Earth have ever been perfect for man when there are things like tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes etc.? he would constantly have to come in and prevent nature and the laws of physics from happening. the very laws he designed to be oh so perfect. doesn't sound very intelligent to me.

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy Wrong. The sin that Adam & Eve committed has corrupted the entire creation of God. Sin has introduced hardship, struggle, poverty, sickness, & death into the physical world we inhabit. But Jesus Christ told us also that Heaven, the Kingdom of God, is all around us, but we are blind to see it. You should not concern yourself so much with this life. You are going to die. Nothing is going to prevent that. You should pray to God for Faith & Salvation. That is the eternal hope

  • @HMG5588 so when Adam and Eve ate a forbidden fruit, the entire physical make-up of the universe changed? tornadoes form because hot air rises and cold air drops. it's just the way things work here on Earth, and every where in this unimaginably giant universe.

i don't see how a bad decision by two insignificant humans on this less than insignificant planet could effect the actual laws that God put into place in the beginning. it just doesn't make sense when you really REALLY think about it.

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy God told Adam & Eve not do something. They did it. So God changed the nature of the universe & introduced mortality into every living thing that exists. Even stars & galaxies are born & obliterated. God is God. What are we? We are nothing but flesh, bone, & blood. But there's something else. There's a remnant of the eternal left in our hearts & minds. When we learn to love with our hearts & minds, we understand the heart & mind of God just a little better than before.

  • @HMG5588 well everyone should believe what they want to believe as long as it makes them a happier and better person. i enjoyed having this conversation, but do you think we should remove our comments so we don't pollute the comment section of this wonderful song? i'm sure people want to look down and see relevant comments instead of our little religious battle haha. and if you would like to continue our conversation i think we should do it in PM's.

  • @aPpLeJuIcE37RainLucy Yes. You can define your own life any way who want. But those who were given Faith in Christ only live to honor God with their lives. I don't think we should remove our comments at all. In fact, if just one person out of 1,000 finds a comment that sparks the imagination, I think it's worth the effort in having these "GLOBAL" conversations. Besides, others can fill in their own comments as well. Yes. Let's continue in the PM section if you prefer. Thanx.

  • @HMG5588 After reading back & forth between this conversation there's a few main thing's I'd like to say. You believe in a Christian god, one that's history & faith is backed by your holy book, the Bible. In what you are saying, your god is the right god and the only god and this is how it happened because your book told you so and that is the only possible explanation. But there are other religions, and so there are many contradictions. (cont.)

  • @HMG5588 (cont.) Islam, for example, has their own holy book, the Quran, which no doubt has things that differ from the Bible. You say everything in the Bible can be proven historically & is the only explanation for certain things. So how can there be other religions with vast differences in their own belief systems? How can Christianity be the one true religion "based on numerous facts" when there are such polytheistic religions based the same. Believe what you want, but we as humans can't know

  • @HMG5588 oh and this came out at a fairly convenient time for our conversation.

    watch?v=1g7AKVZ3HC4

  • @HMG5588 and also you dont thinkicreatures evolve?

  • @HMG5588 And obviously you haven't listened to these song lyrics deep enough. What John is singing about is how he can't trust in Jesus anymore because of all the shit that's happened in the world, all the things that god has let happen. It can also possibly be seen as how the whole aspect of religion can have a negative effect in whole.

  • @HMG5588 Check out Andrew Jackson Jihad. Start with "Bad Bad Things." You won't regret it.

  • @Aranman16 Hey, I like that song too! Thanx for the tip!

  • I love this song. It reminds me of Grey Diamond Desert by Screaming Trees.

  • that bass line is F*CKing sick

  • This band is just amazing!!!!

  • This song is amazing, A lyrical masterpiece!

  • I love his voice, so broken.

  • I'm fuckin blown away!!!

  • volop lauw gek!
