Some people commenting on this video are confused. The law of conservation of matter says that mass is neither created nor destroyed. The video does not say 200 liters of water are in the cup. It just says 200 liters are temporarily stored in some part of the process per cup. If you didn't make the latte, you'd probably have more water stored in plants and trees instead of cows, sugar plants and plastic making factories. this is absurd in the highest degree. first of all i would seriously doubt the it takes near 200 liters of water to make a latte. Where did those numbers come from?second, even if it did require 200L to make a drink, that water would eventually make its way back into the system to be used again. I'm all for saving all the little critters or whatever, but this ad is the most unashamedly ignorant representation of the world ecosystem that i have ever seen.

Some people commenting on this video are confused. The law of conservation of matter says that mass is neither created nor destroyed. The video does not say 200 liters of water are in the cup. It just says 200 liters are temporarily stored in some part of the process per cup. If you didn't make the latte, you'd probably have more water stored in plants and trees instead of cows, sugar plants and plastic making factories. The video means 200 gallons of h2o are temporarily not in nature.

You don't heard about this "lake" because coffee farms are distributed all over tropical nations, and therefor this "lake" is also removed across all local sources of fresh water, therefore not depleting a single lake in a single day.

don't forget that the people driving the trucks with the cup have to drink water to live, too. so factor in about 10 gallons for that trip. plus one of the nights he stayed at the truckstop he had some whiskey which dehydrated him and he had to drink extra water... add another 2 gallons. plus every time the driver has to go to the bathroom and flushes the toilet. that's another 100 gallons. and let's not forget the water included in all the meals needed to keep him alive during the trip, add 50.

You people do not have a clue about what is really going on. We can drink 0.02% of the earths water. Thats 60,000 cubic miles. Yes if you count ground water it is 1 percent. But think about that. That water is for 6.8 billion people. Our population is growing and we cant quench 6.8 billion people with 60,000 cubic miles of water. Also when you drink water you do not piss it all out. Not 100% of it any ways. We cant make fresh water because we do not want to. It would cost way to much money.

So to make it simple for you: it rains in brazil and coffee grows. Cows drink water and produce milk, a company uses water for the equipment that produces the lid and the cup.
