  • That's some moving stuff man! Loves the Alvin, he is the real McCoy!

  • Where can I find the tabs to this

  • @Gullahboy in your head! just listen to it about a million times and hen you'll get some kind of rendition of it.

  • I agree with you on your last statement "you miss out when you listen to one kind of music. But to me rap has no redeeming qualities unless your into head banging nonsense........

  • Hell yeah. This is true power.

  • So incredible.

  • This is outstandingly beautiful and people need to get that.

  • bad ass

  • Roots!

  • Awesome song..... I immediately have to think of cornfields and lonesome country roads on sunny summer days.

  • The divine lovechild of Jimi Hendrix and Hagrid.

  • I learnt this song(amongst others) after watching Martin Scorceses Blues Documentaries. GO GET IT!!!!!!

I can see a shift in certain genres going back to their roots... whether it works or not isnt the point... people are getting sick of all this manufactured bs

Just thought id put my 10 cents worth in and am happy there are others out there who dig this stuff as much as i do

Long Live The Blues(coming from a 26 y/o white boy from Perth Western Australia!) hahaha

  • Give us Alvin electric with a trio!Motivational Speaker album is the real deal

  • this guy should be selling records like no shit.what happened to people making music like this.kids today either like listening about bees and hoes or just plain loud noise.now this i can hear not just listen to.great song alvin.

  • i fucking love this guy

  • His voice is like black coffee and battery acid. I love it.

  • after reading a couple of comments i'd like to say that... rap can't compare to this no matter what rappers you compare this to. This music is as natural as speaking. One person can make it powerful using passion and talent... rap seems to attract ppl with swearing insults and trying to be as bad as possible. Right now lil wayne is probs the best rapper cuz he's very natural but without autotune ... its pretty bad. This from a 15 yr old (if that makes a diff)

  • This song gives me shivers ... i love it.

  • i got that same guitar for free and learned it was a good blues guitar and that so many good musicians want and/or have it and it is a damn good guitar for blues

  • skip james lah i rehmo !wow !

  • Człowieku gdzie Ty żyjesz?Przyjedz do Polski a zarobisz kupę szmalu :)No chyba że przegrasz z niejakim "filem" Buhahahahahaaa:)

  • Love the tone, alsmost sounds Dobroish! Great performance! This dude is BLUES fo sho!

  • it kinda sounds like E, Bm, A but i dunno can anyone tell me?

  • open e minor

  • almost but not quite, the chord changes don't really exist in Bentonia, they're kind of emplied

  • Anyone got tabs for this ?

  • has anybody got the video where hes on live at Jools Holland playing this song?

  • Supurb, blues as it was and should be!

  • This is the reason we need more brothers playing the guitar again and playing real music instead of that rap crap.

  • @fatcatbuzz

so true man, in this video you can see how vital the black soul is.

  • @morphinlounge101 I was born in the 70s, so there was a time when I thought rap was actually good and meant something. But, now 90% is garbage. I would go see my black brothers playing this stuff any day and it's sad how most don't go for this type of stuff and leave it to us (I'm Oglalla Sioux). I would like to see them participate in the music they helped create because even more that rap, rock and blue changed the course of music around the world in my opinion.

  • @fatcatbuzz listen to illmatic.

  • @lukeydev Thanks. I will.

  • who are u talking about when u say rap...

    i hate souljah boi

but i LOVE tupac, biggie, nas and guys like that...

    this guy is siiick too!

u miss out when u listen to one kind of music, would u agree...

  • there's plenty of good rap and bad rap, just like there was plenty of good and bad blues :-)

  • well said.

  • Rap/blues is where it's at though. Gotta love Chris Thomas King

  • @samwise862

    Yeah man, I totally agree.

But Tupac and his contemporaries were something awesome, those rappers are very rare these days. Most of today "rap scene" is just engineered, no real talent or skill. Just put enough naked women in their videos and it's done.

It's an industry (even they call it that - music industry).

We need real talents doing all kinds of music. Looks or money should not be determining the success of someone as a musician or rapper, but their skills.

    No skill - no rap.

  • @samwise862 This is my opinion, most old school rap is the bomb. I was born in the 70s and my mom is from Philly so I remember when rap was just coming out. Even as a kid in elementary school I though rap was great. But, now I would say 90% is horrible, sell out music with no real message like it had in the beginning. But, that could be said for most mainstream music these days.

  • @samwise862 I would agree guy fatcatbuzz sounds like a conceded son of a gun

  • AYH is the REAL DEAL! When you here him you hear everyone from Henry Townsend, Skip,Rev. Gary Davis,Bob Wills, Charley Patton, Howling Wolf and Capt. Beefheart. Jesus, this man is TALENTED!

  • Alvin, come back to the UK soon please!

  • this music WILL make you 4get all about rap music more folk & BLUE NEED TO BE PLAYED ON RADIO TV AND IN SCHOOLS IN THE USA ALVIN KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ML BLUE BALTIMORE,MARYLAND

  • delterbluesman;Had to give you the 'thumbs up!' would've done it twice infact...you are SO right! AYH should've been invited to Claptons "Crossroads" Festival. More people should know about his talent. What a voice ths guy's got! He makes Keb Mo' sound like Nat King Cole or Perry Como.

  • at 3:00 just close your eyes and sit back...

  • holy crap

  • Alvin pays good tribute to legendary Skip James!

A very good performance, true oldblues style!
