What a superb example of a bass who can accurately sing Rossini. No one was within shouting distance when Ramey was at his peak in the late 70s, 80s, and 90s. He was also superb in Verdi - Attila, Nabucco, Don Carlo.
That night he wrote a page of history of interpretation!

Oh yes. And notice the position in which the director made him sing this fiendishly difficult aria! This is close to a feat, I think.
