back when fallout 1 was released it was $35 bucks I think... I could only afford to buy 1 game. My brother brought me the case from the store and said... I think you will really like this. I was like... Im not sure... I dont know. he told me to trust him. So I did. It turned out to be one of the best games I had ever played. Same with fallout 2. Sadly though fallout 3 did not deliver the same quality of roleplay but still delivered a neat game.

This game is great, but it seems like the combat drags on forever with non-combat based characters... I thought I could get away with a science/sneak/speech character and ended up dying 4 times before I even made it out of the temple. The entire game looked like this: "You missed. Radscorpion missed. I hated fallout 3. Back in the days when I was 12 years old and played fallout 2 it was the best game ever. now I am 22 years old and fallout 3 sucks. The gameplay does not follow the fallout 2 and 1 gameplay. Fallout 3 is not original and I hated it.

When I played diablo 1 and 2 back in the days. Yay those games are great. And diablo 3 follows the same gameplay mechanism as Diablo 1 and 2.

However, Fallout 1 and 2 were different games than 3. In terms of story, atmosphere, originality, RPG elements and uniqueness, the other two were better. In terms of graphics and action 3 was better.

I really just respected 3 and NV because they didn't change the game too much from the original and adapted the Fallout world very well. However they still lacked that dark sense of humor and maturity the other games had.

1. There were hardly any awards for games back then (1997).

2. It can be found on MULTIPLE top 10 PC games of all time lists (including after F3 was released).

3. It won game of the year in at least 3 magazines.

4. It won RPG of the year in PC Gamer, which was the pinnacle of gaming awards in the day.

I like Fallout 1 and 3 about equally. One is an RPG the other is an action game. F3 was aimed towards younger audiences as well (was easy and not as raunchy).

Interplay went bankrupt and can't pay it's employes. Interplay also had the rights from Bethesda to make a Fallout mmorpg in a certain time frame and failed to make one so Interplay lost the fallout name.

Bethesda is a multi-million dollar company, having fallout 3 as the best selling RPG of all time.
