I would have also loved Shenmue on Saturn....... but later I would be wishing it was released on dreamcast instead.

The saturn does not have the proccessing power to play Shenmue on it. Unless you took the quality wayyyy down. It would crash. Black screen.

it was originaly made for Sega Saturn but then they trasfer to Dreamcast the saturn version was never sold this video was included in the Xbox version of Shenmue 2 as well as a Shenmue 1 Story Video of the dreamcast version

1999 Its a Kick ass game on sega saturn i used to have that game it pretty less cheaper then i thought it was but when i played on DC And XBOX its even kick more ass just the grapics and i understand more :D

I remember watching this multiple times back in 04'.

After analyzing the video, bringing Shenmue to the Saturn is pushing it. I have never seen such detailed graphics and textures in a game running on a 32 bit system. But, it would end up being bad in the long run due to CPU and Ram limitations. There is also the factor that developing games for the Saturn was difficult due to the complexity of the Saturn motherboard.

We should be lucky that it came out for the dreamcast.

Ryo was originally suppose to be a younger version of 'Akira' from the Virtua Fighter series. This game started life as 'Virtua Fighter RPG' on the Sega Saturn but later evolved into what the game it is now. I'm also certain that 'Lan Di' was originally suppose to be 'Lau Chan' from Virtua Fighter as well

Both games were in development at the same time, in fact 2 was in production before 1.

That's why when people say that the game cost 70 million, it is a misconception. Yu said that "Shenmue cost 70 million," meaning that the whole project cost that much, not just the first game.
