I also remember watching this when it was first aired. Brooks took stand-up to a new level. He didn't tell a series of jokes but always came up with unique and brilliantly funny routines. He came up with a new routine almost every time he was on the air and it was always great. I never saw a comedian like him. After a few years he performed this, his farewell to stand-up, and it killed. It's too bad it's cut short here. I always thought it was one of the finest pieces of comedy ever done.

One of the most creative entertainers of all time. Someone already posted that Joey Bishop, who was guest hosting that night, mad the comment that it was the single funniest bit he'd ever seen. I've never heard any other comedian say anything like that, before or since. The exit was a parody of the exit that Jimmy Durante used to do. I hope that someone can find the whole thing. He did the most wonderful bad ventriloquist that was a parody of the great Spanish ventriloquist, Señor Wences.

I remember seeing this when it first aired. The last part of the bit is cut off here. Albert says at the end, "this is me" and pulls out an 8x10 glossy of himself from the back of his underwear, then proceeds to slowly walk off the stage waving good-bye. If my memory is right, Joey Bishop was guest hosting that night and said it was one of the funniest bits he'd ever seen.

I'm 99% sure this is Albert's last stand-up appearance, ever. (Although of course he went on to do bits on talk shows, but from the guest chair, not the stage). After this he did the SNL films and then on to features. Very historic. I thought this was lost. Thanks so much.
