Hi Frank love this vid, what a coast and easy enough for beginers you say? I will definitely be trying this next summer. Just to let you know, I picked my kayak up on Saturday and had a couple of hours on the river Avon between Warwick and Leamington. Great views of Warwick castle from the river. Thanx for the advice on cold water, have wetsuit and life jacket. This sat Warwick to Stratford on Avon.
@Voodooacid69 It's a doddle, and is one of the most consitantly interesting trips I've done. There are no boring bits at all. Best started at high water Solva, and just lose yourself out there,it's wonderful. If I'm down there, and the wind blows from the North, then good shelter can be had there. As long as you don't go into Ramsey sound, then there is little tidal flow to worry you.The wreck is excellent, and wreckage is in the next bay.Go the other way to Newgale is not as good, but still OK.
@stevenatleven Lucky you,I may get to Anglesey or Trevor,Matt's been on and is chomping at the bit ha ha.Make sure you post a video, one of the places,I'd like to go,but the Ferry is just one too many hurdles most of the time.S.t Kilda is one of the ultimate places to visit, but you sure need the weather out there.
@Paulmanorbier Well that is high praise indeed Paul thankyou. The sound is easily overlooked, and I think it is essential, the atmosphere on some of these paddles, and the coast generally is fantastic, and a huge part of the experience, just imagine the seaside without the sound of Gulls? wouldn't be the same would it?
Beautiful video , will now be using the word "turquoisity" at the earliest convenience ! ....... that shipwreck camshaft would do a great job in my old Mondeo !
@dave55853 The Day after this it was Porthgain - Abereiddy not as good as this but still out of this world for APRIL.A normal April,it would be pissing down and blowing a gale.Next thing it will be - Hosepipe Ban!!!!
@weirwolfarroo The list is growing! This is totally recommended,to beginner and experienced alike, there is no end to interesting features, and another mile or so West, and you're at Ramsey Island and "The Bitches" Go East towards Newgale and it's good as well, but not as good as East from Solva.
@selkie72 Think Summer has been and gone ha ha.It's gone cold again now, that could have been it.On the day of this video it was well into the 20s,and the day after,at least as warm,so much so in fact, that I ended up with a Rash under my armpit, sweat rash, friction,or "The Lynx effect" I don't know, but it stopped me paddling, and is still sore 4 days later! Also a sweat rash in the worst place imaginable,I'll let you guess that one,but a clue is - a "Manitory Towell" is required ha ha
@selkie72 Some worldly wise person once stated that"Small boats are only good for a wet arse, and a big appetite" Well,I guess thats the price we have to pay for not being able to afford a "Gin Palace" I've always said,it doesn't matter what boat you're out in,as long as you're enjoying yourself, and I know this to be true from my Diving days,Had some of the best times ever in small inflatables, and my mates 13ft R.I.B.
Hey frank, nice vid as usual. Im now the proud owner of a p&h scorpio. Im hoping to use it for the first time later today on gareloch here in w scotland. Be great to meet up with you one day, to give me a few tips ;) speak soon, take care mate.
@delboyjdf Can't go far wrong with a P&H boat, and I find a lot of the plastic boats comfier than the fibreglass boats.Best advice, for now would be,get lots of practice in shallow water, and do some capsizes, and get used to pulling your spraydeck( Ooo-err) and bailng out in water deep enough that your head doesn't scrape, whilst upside down!!Keep practicing the low brace, the best place for this is in the "Soup" between the Surf and the beach,in shallow water.
@alanshunter Been on to the Don at Oxford Uni. and he apologised for it's omission from the Concise Dictionary, and personally assured me that "Turquoisity" will indeed be in the 2012 edition ha ha.
@arthurlikesmusic Strangely perhaps,I very nearly went instead of this trip.If I'd known the weather would've stayed so long,I would definitely have gone.I was aiming for North Devon, then working my way down, but chose here because it was closer. But I really do want to return to Cornwall,it was superb last time,

@onlywhenpissed What, so you can encounter a Bum Nugget near a cave?
GBPaddling 10 months ago
@GBPaddling had to comment on this one too, Bum Nugget near a cave? is that a euphanism?
Jtechie 10 months ago
@Jtechie Pure coincidence, unless it was a Brown Cave, or it resembled a baloon knot,or perhaps surrounded by Arsecress ha ha.
GBPaddling 10 months ago
lol @ bum nugget, u got such a way with words
Jtechie 10 months ago
@Jtechie You've got to admit it was very convincing, also known as a "Mersey Goldfish" ha ha.
GBPaddling 10 months ago
@GBPaddling yeah very convincing, though from the size of it i think they would have had a C-section lol
