(oop, sorry lots to say :D ) is, as like the US b4 the civil war, with stronger states than the central gov't... i think it's confederacy, unitarianism, and federalism? the US has a federalism with a strong unitarian gov't with weak states rights, EU has strong states, with weak central gov't but still a unifying central gov't... idk i think i'm rambling here haha! but that's what i think is kind've cool and great about the EU
you know, actually i was thinking, the way the EU seems like today, is kind of similar to that of the US at the beginning... what i mean is all the sates in the usa thought of themselves as their own country first off, like in the Civil War (1861-1865) states left bc they felt it their right as their own kindve country, it's the same thing with the EU, and i'm not saying they should go more central, as the US did after the civil war, but rather, i'm thinking the EU should continue continue as it
MarquisdeBarrabas i totley agree with you if we make a single voice when it comes to invading sovering nations it nothing good would come from it we need to be like the usa in some way with agreeing but unlike the usa were countrys not stats as the EU we need to work together but at the same time one it comes to something like invading a sovereign country then we need to alow open choues
Whilst i support the EU i certainly not agree with this guys view that Europe will always have a single voice and we wont be divided again like over iraq.
Her Majesty's Government reserves the right to bomb and invade any country it chooses and the European Union has no veto over this matter.
i think it's great that they are trying to unify europe, but i hope they dont make it so that when u here spain u think EU, or when u hear germany u think EU, it should be (personally speaking) a union of individual nations standing up for freedom, justice, equality, and truth, and not just a union in which one singular country arises, altho i'm from the US, what do i know haha
Well, your right on par there. The EU experiment is pretty much a "United States" of European nations. That is why we are seeing the rise (or return) of nationalism in Europe, in which the nationalists are working together this time in order to maintain their individual sovereignty. I hope more and more Europeans start to wake up before the new Federal Europe puts a totalitarian stranglehold over its subjects. For Christ's sake, the EU have their own embassies in other nations.
very interesting post. Keep it up!

The EU to have one voice in foreign policy? I'd agree with regards to dealing with nations like Russia, USA and China.
Not sure about the rest.

this may very well be a good thing as long as all member states have an equal say.

I don't think the EU should always have 'a single voice in foreign policy'.
When it comes to Russia and our neighbours, yes, when it comes to invading sovereign nations across the globe, no.
Mark my words: if we end up aiding the US/Israel in attacking Iran, many Europeans will give up on the Union.
