@661Sunshine - the tune is in the "public domain", and anyone can use it. It is also used for a church hymn and of course Beethoven's ninth symphony last movement.
The lyrics are original and so is the piano arrangement.
@oracle2world That's not what she (I'll just asume it's a she) meant!!!
This is the anthem of the European Union, it is allready used by a "country" as their anthem.
It would be very uncreative to use this as the worlds anthem...
That's what she meant, I asume. If so, I agree^^
Theremore I think that this song should remain in German, it has so much more meaning in that language. The English version is not really meaningfull... :S
@johnkist1990 - it was written for Earth Day (April 22). But now that you mention it, the song would probably work as a world anthem. I picked the melody because it is public domain, well known, and very easy to sing (small vocal range). Anyway, if you and anyone else posts a performance to YouTube, I will link to it.
Joyful joyful we adore our Earth in all its wonderment Simple gifts of nature that all join into a paradise Now we must resolve to protect her Show her our love through out all time With our gentle hand and touch We make our home a newborn world Now we must resolve to protect her Show her our love through out all time With our gentle hand and touch We make our home a newborn world
this song is already used for the european union sorry

@oracle2world :D I think I wasn't clear enough^^
English is not my native- language^^
Just surch for the anthem of the EU.
Or anthem of the European Union.
It's the same melody.
Yes it might be on a public domain and free, etc...
But the melody as such is allready used, it would be very unoriginal to use it once again^^
The worlds anthem should be something really impressive, something easy, but yet overwhelming :-D
