  • Hauntingly beautiful. And she must be very proud of her daughter Scarlett Johansson ; )

  • Comment removed

  • @JONNOG88 ....so I take it you are kidding about Scarlett being her daughter, beacuse Scarlett resmbles her? Scarlett's mother is Melanie Sloan..

  • @fpherj48

Mate I'm joking ok. Did'nt you see the winking face. Christ get a sense of humour.

  • @JONNOG88 Judie Tzuke's singer/songwriter daughter is Bailey Tzuke.

  • @hatassa

Really her children sing. Thanks for the info.

  • Class.had the pleasure of meeting judi years ago, along with other talented singer song writers like Joan armatrading.and they're still producing great work.I wonder how many of today's wannabes will stand the test of time?,few I suspect given the dross fed us by cowell and co.

  • apart from her the whole band look smashed

  • Lovely song, lovely lady. Had the pleasure to see her live in Slough, just as good if not better live.

  • CHECK OUT OUR NEW MUSIC VIDEO: TONY BENGTSSONS THE FIRE

  • what a wanker the bass player is!

  • Excellent quality video. Jump back 33 years, that brings a lump to the throat. Picked up the guitar and played that solo a hundred times, thinking, why can't I have his job? So much for careers advice. She was so cool and hot, so knowing and innocent at the same time. Breathtaking.

  • What's Julian Cope doing on bass?

  • xxx for Judi

  • Judi Tzuke, Annie Haslam, Kate Bush, Grace Slik, Gladys Knight among some of the ladies who when they sing, goosebumps appear on your skin.

  • Sitting on the beach at Mt Martha back in Christmas 79.......pure bliss listening to this, feels like yesterday.

  • This beautiful song sung this way pierces your heart like a silver stiletto leaving you

suspended on the sweetest agony - and quite helpless. Outstanding.

  • great music those realy years judie tzuck

  • well fit tell me the name of her dentist

  • maybe if they had cosmetic dental surgery back in those days.....

  • @tabroification They did, they saved it for people who needed it

  • how cute is she?!

  • great song, great era of music

  • she#s still touring, am amazed she never made it bigger but perhaps it saved her, lovely voice and lovely song

  • She doesn't just sing beautifully- she performs the song.

  • even her beautiful daughter as got a talented voice...legend.

  • Polly put the kettle on...

  • @vapourphaze it brings peculiar things to mind, yours maDE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD

  • Glen Bulb on the drums there...

  • Lovely song.

  • Great love song,I watched a programme on a satellite channel a Year or so back,Where they were interviewing stars of the 80's,And what they are up to now.

Judie was on it,And although She has put on a few pounds since Her chart day;s She is still as gorgeous as She was then.

  • beautiful, brings back memories!

  • OMG still remember this spine tingling classic from back in summer ofin 1979. remember a thursday nite well and dave lee travis introducing this on TOTPS . WHAT A GREAT MEMORY.

  • I bought this circa 83 after hearing it on the John Peel show and the great man himself remarked that "this lady has the voice of a nightingale" How right you were, John.

  • she would win Xfactor hands down if she sang this now. She sounds brilliant live thanks for posting it.

  • Deardannyboyspain1.........I don't think for one single, solitary, second that this lady would even entertain the thought of going on that 1/2 -ass show!!! Besides, why is it that everyone these days judges all artists by the " X-Factory" yardstick and then make comments like "Bet she'd win X-Factor"--For chrissakes there really are other ways to make it to the top without having to bow down at the alter of the high-priest of cash-cow producing drivel Cowell !!!

  • @MrBazzabee

Thank you sir. For saying more or less what I intented to say. Cowell is to muscial creativity. What Cirrhosis is to livers!. That idiot and his horde of equally idiotic acolytes. Would'nt recognise real talent of Judie calibre. If it bit his stupid over botoxed face.

  • @dannyboyspain1 XFactor!!!! This is when artists had to work to get recogntion.

  • At 46 i have always been into rock &,rock & roll & some of today's stuff now but this melody ballad puts me in la la land great song in it's day Pete

  • HAVEN'T HEARD THIS. FOR. YEARS

  • anya933. You are right.

  • i remember this when i was a child,,,,,,,,,,

  • On here? Nothing - because I haven't got the equipment.

I was a semi-pro engineer for many years, though.

  • still shivers me timbers

  • brill song

  • @ 'Ermine':

Learn to mix properly - especially cross-fade. Every version of this wonderful song I've tried to play so far is trashed by your oh-so-commercial sounding intro jingle, cutting off the start of true musical beauty. :( :( :(

  • @NicL5 Don't be such a pedantic twat. What have you posted?

  • Blimey, she's not too shabby......and she can sing.

  • anyone know what she is doing now?

  • @mowgli19601 Happily married with kids and likes gardening, and writing.

  • @mowgli19601 still recording...touring next month, has two beautiful daughters.

  • CLASSIC TUNE!

  • I'd love hear ADELE do a cover of this song. Its just something that just doesn't age. Love and its games makes this tiimeless.

  • @matonmagic Adele would slaughter this song - it requires singing, not shouting.

  • this reminds me of another song by a different artist but i can can't think of the song or artist :S x

  • @ryxan2010 so this reminds you of a song you dont know by an artist you cant remember..Now let me think!!!!

  • in total agreement girls seemed so much more femenine and girl

  • Timeless .... Simply timeless

  • I think the girls of her generation looked a lot gentler than the young girls of today. Just sayin.....

  • @anya933 What about early Punk gir;ls?

  • Will never forget this masterpiece of a song! talent beyond words, lyrics to make you raise goose bumps all over. Can't express moreeeeeee

  • my twitter friend... love her and her music, new album out a few months ago - get it!

  • She brought uplifting feelings to a very dark time for me. My father died suddenly but I was given this tape and she gave some light during this dark time for me.

  • i found her music by pure accident.. i didnt even know she was a star till i saw this post

  • is she miming?

  • and she still sounds this amazing...i saw her live last year

  • Beautiful voice...

    Great music...

  • Polish beauty with a great voice. Wonderful.

  • yeah, brilliant song, beautiful singer.Best ballad of the 70's......when music was innocent, untarnished and heart-felt.

  • Got to be one of the sexiest songs ever recorded... it's the slow understatement...

  • Absolute Class - Takes me back to when I was 21 - if only you could turn the clock back Great times -Great Music .

  • does anyone what she is doing now?

  • Phwoooaaarrr!!! Well fit !

  • I agree, so underrated.

  • Nice teeth.

  • Goes to show how much more 'musical' music was in the 70s & 80s ... When a track as good as this only got to number 16.

When you compare it to the musically 'flat lining' shite that is today's pop, a track as musical as this being released now would not only shock & get to number 1, but probably stay there forever!

  • @xoio you got that right

  • For anyone who was in love in 1979 this was the song that captured it. As for the Album " Welcome to the cruise". Its one of those "must haves" for any collector. Thank you Judie and thank you bennyoldenburg.

  • this song gets to your hart.

  • On a movie soundtrack that slips my mind, she's done a beautiful version of "God only knows" (originally by The Beach Boys) -daz in oz

  • Comment removed

  • @dazincalculation Judie's version of God Only Knows is also on her album called Left Hand Talking

  • @VoxPoppy Thank you very much for that info. I appreciate that indeed!! Yes, it's a brilliant effort of a Beach Boys classic.

  • Stunning.

  • A beautiful and haunting song..

  • fucking underrated star. hope shes doing well

  • Saw her play in the Savoy in Limerick City Ireland in 1980 supporting Hall and Oates what a gig love this song, nice one!!!

  • Hauntingly beautiful!

  • never heard it before! I'm from aus born 69 but ...it's in favs cheers

  • An exceptionally talented musician, underrated definitely and so good to see Judie doing live gigs although the chance of her ever coming to Australia are remote. Thanks so much for posting this for us all!!

  • @coolhandluke1889 Yes. I am not very physically active any more due to arthritis in the hands mainly. Mentally still am in good shape thanks to a healthy diet, Vegemite and a glass of wine each night. I retired in 1972. In 1987 I got my first IBM Personal Computer and have been hooked ever since. I was featured in a TV show in 2009 about life beginning at retirement. My grandson helps me with emails. Must go now... there's a fucking funeral director at the door wanting payment in advance.

  • @creativeengineer creativeimagination more like. Like the bit about the funeral director

  • @creativeengineer - WHAT IS THIS BULLSHIT - IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SONG -KEEP THIS SHIT TO YOURSELF

  • @Robertie10 e no spika da engleesh, so lighten up dipstick.... Horace.

  • I have not heard this since I turned 73 in 1981. Thank you sir for bringing back great memories when I was a younger man. When I was a boy we didn't even have the telephone or television. Records were played at the local hall. The world has changed so much. Now I can see pretty young lasses like Miss Tzuke sing like a bird. Better than that horrible world war 2 music we had to listen to.

    yours sincerely,

    Horace.

  • I think she is miming to the single, but it still gives me goosebumps. It was her greatest achievement...spectacular. Nice that she's still around and singing.

  • Yeh you will have to go now love, because Dawns just coming up the garden path now!

  • OMG.........I just found this.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • At last a version we can enjoy with the beauty of Judie's voice without the inane comments of Steve Wright from TOTP2. Thanks Judie and band, great voice , great band , please bring it all back again soon to Redditch or as near as you can.

  • Simply beautiful voice. If I may say, the reverie of Stevie Nicks and the clarity of Karen Carpenter. But how can you compete with 1979? One hit wonders, Promises - Baby Its You, Visage - Fade to Grey ... It was an explosion with Pop Music, My Sharona, Disco, Ballads, ACDC, KISS, where do you stop. Overshadowed by many artists.

  • I wouldn't need asking twice to stay with Judie till dawn, she could sing to me and I'd be in heaven.

  • i havn't heard this since i was a teenager....thank you for posting such an awesome voice.....takes me back.....i agree she's one of those rare singers who could sing a grocery list and you would be spellbound by her....

  • I had the most wonderful crush on Judie when this song was around...beautiful voice, song and woman...

  • Sensational. Love Judie

  • try come hell or waters high - beautiful song

  • this will be me and ma fiancee first dance at our wedding

  • I love this song so much, i listened to it when i was 15 night after night. x

  • new album out soon called One Tree Less

  • She could sing her grocery list and I would buy it.

  • @lewisner Me Too

  • I'm just discovering Judie and I simply love her voice and her lyrics - simply gorgeous!

  • piano is a bit loud here, but nice song

  • Her voice melts me...nise post. Thakyou.

  • Fantastic song, brilliantly performed by the girl with the most soulful voice ever heard in the music business. Incredible to think this was her only big hit when you consider some of the dross around, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise as we who appreciate quality can keep her to ourselves rather than share her with the mediocrity-loving mainstream. She's still performing now and by all accounts is an absolutely lovely person. Judy is the other person I'd love to meet apart from Leonard Cohen.

  • I grew up listening to songs like this, and also Kate Bush - beautiful female singers with so much more talent and integrity than their equivalents today. I miss the 70's and 80's:(

  • I would stay with you for an eternity.

  • Fantastic and, as has been said, a very under-rated artiste - love her! x

  • If she's asking? The answers Yes!

  • Sometimes you just can't put your finger on what makes a tune so effective, but from the first time I heard this song - at some party in the early 80's - I loved it and its melancholic beauty.

  • I've been a fan of Judie Tzuke from the start, been to countless gigs & after gig parties, got all the albums on vinyl in mint condition, it is a shame she didn't make it big & the full band were underated

  • i do think judy is so talented and so underated its a shame, love her music great artist

  • @brizeeuk Totally agree one of the most underated singers , this is better than all that GAGA shite

  • This song is just so... fupping brilliant.

Encompasses longing and desire and want....

I remember listening to it as a teenager on a personal cassette player... thinking about some bloke. God when I think back now...

  • i would

  • you're keeping me from somebody i want to know!

  • In the States, this song never cracked the top 50. But we had a small AM station that played progressive music and they spun this record on a regular basis. And after 30 years, I have this song on my iPod.

  • i lurve this song sooo much!

  • What a stunning voice. I never forgot this song. I was 18 when this came out and like most great music , impacts on me...greatly. Thanks for posting.

  • @leotimpano

I was 11 when it came out and its lowish chart position betrays its greatness.
