Thank you for posting this, im not sure if you check your youtube comments anymore, since the last one was three years ago. But my name is david DeVaun Hodge, i am Larrys grandson, im the only son from his daughter Camille. And seeing this really made me so happy. I miss my grandaddy so much :(
Ive wanted to follow in his footsteps for so long, just like my uncle michael, but i lost my way, life really hasnt been kind to me, and seeing this lifted me. He truly was a great man and we miss him!
Will do Albey! And a certain tattoo artist asked me to get Chris to tell me how Stubb use to get up on stage to sing "Summertime!" All the very best to you and yours-----of the 1907 views of this video--I think I own about 907 of 'em!
this was a great great performance. I'm glad that somebody had the foresight to capture it on film. Sorry to hear that Jr, Sandy and Jeff have passed. that leaves you, Chris, Donny Silverman,Ken and Paul left. Paul and Donny are in Austin and you're in the Big Apple? I'll bet any one of you can still blow away the competition--on demand. this is a nice piece of Americana! I'll be seeing Chris and Bluestone next week--can't wait!!! Cheers!
P.S. are there any more videos that survived? Thanks!
I met Junior at Stubb's in Lubbock in June of 1994, at about the time he was diagnosed with cancer. He never claimed to be a blues singer but he could really belt them out. He was one of the nicest performers I ever met. A truly gracious human being. I wish he'd been here longer so more people could have experienced his joy and love.
woah!!! what year is this from? chris is dressed like Jimmy Buffet!! that must be the infamous stolen strat. awesome post...please post more old stuff of Chris
circa 1988! We had just come off a 30 day road trip when we went into the studio to do this live tv appearance in Austin, TX. The entire performance is almost 20 minutes and you can watch it on aboptvdotcom
I have DAT tapes of his last shows at Stubbs...this was recorded before I met him.
