Most Christians think Old Covenant tithing for a blessing is the way to get favor from God but the Old Covenant spoke more on helping the poor, widows and fatherless than on tithing. It even says in Proverbs 19:17 give to the poor and God will repay you. Prosperity Teachers wrongly twist the bible to say Tithing, sowing a (money) seed will reap them a money harvest. To not tithe brings a curse. This is how they justify not helping the poor if the poor started tithing they would be blessed.

We got thousands of different black churches some located only a few feet from each other and most "supposedly" worship the same God. I would like to help churches to collaborate to address more of the social issues of our congregants but criticism doesn't help that cause. I doubt that the values expressed by most of our Presidents would have been as compassionate without the influences of their churches. Churches must build people with character and love before indulging into building communities and cities of brick and mortar. Church should not be driven by finance. Finance is a tool to help meet the needs of the people
The Church should not be about color as much as love. I write that while agreeing with you that we as a church should be socially relevant as well. The church has a history of producing most of the Black Scholars of our time, because the root of the church is to teach. We provide social services that span from teaching literacy to vocational skills and counseling individuals and families. Please don't judge a global group of believers by your personal limited experience of Christian Churches.

You speak of the Black Christian church as though it has some different identity than that of other Christian Churches. The ethnic mix of a congregation shouldn't determine the social issues that are to be addressed. I have served in churches attended by Mexicans, Blacks, and Whites and we have done our best to help people regardless of race. The reason why so many Black Christian women are single is mostly that they outnumber single Black Christian men.

Singles conferences should allow both men and women to attend together so that some will meet each other and possibly end up getting married as a result of attending single conferences.That one is a no brainer. I think that unless the conferences and churches are telling Black women they cannot date outside their race then those Black women who find men of other races attractive should know that they can date them. Especially since Christianity does not discourage it.
Who are these Black preachers telling women to say single as opposed to praying for husbands and living holy lives that God may bless holy men to find them? My church is very active in the Black Community, especially concerning youth. The Police Department heard about what we were doing, and they hosted a summer program at our church.

Bethel Gospel Assembly has drug and alcohol ministry, business group, women abuse ministry, jail ministry. They help members with taxes, fix their credit, feed homeless, respite for abused children, stay healthy. Currently they are under construction and have employed members to run the cafe, catering, construction, and maintenance. They also are a missions based church where they go to Africa, the Caribbean, and South America.
Sounds like the kind of church that maybe could help Tonya find her way to the one and only true God. If she was discouraged from the Christian faith by witnessing the behavior of false Christians in Christian churches in which the people were not following Christ then maybe a good Christian church like yours can encourage her to return to the faith. Please understand every church has false christians. Even the ones who are trying to be Christ like have flaws. However, the majority or the ones in charge of those that I mentioned are really trying to do the work of the Lord. Unfortunately, they get little to no publicity.
I think some of what you pointed out is right but if and when you do a little more research you'll find that black churches are doing a lot for the community. We just don't hear about it because we are always focused on the negative. If a Pastor, or Deacon, or what ever, visits someone in the hospital, something is being done for the community.

Most Christians think Old Covenant tithing for a blessing is the way to get favor from God but the Old Covenant spoke more on helping the poor, widows and fatherless than on tithing. It even says in Proverbs 19:17 give to the poor and God will repay you. Prosperity Teachers wrongly twist the bible to say Tithing, sowing a (money) seed will reap them a money harvest. To not tithe brings a curse. This is how they justify not helping the poor if the poor started tithing they would be blessed.

Not keeping the Sabbath & circumcision was a capital crime which resulted in stoning to death. Jews under the Old Covenant law of works had to work around the clock to keep 613 laws. Jesus came and kept the law for us it all pointed to a coming Messiah to redeem & save. A blood sacrifice of a Lamb without defect paid for their sins. All 613 Mosaic laws in the Old Covenant laws had to be kept by the Jewish nation in Unison as a package deal under the terms & conditions of the Covenant to break one voided the entire covenant. Read James 2:10 & Galatians 3:10. Example of other laws were Sabbath keeping (starts Frid. nite to Sat. nite stop all activity and rest. No pork or unclean foods. Circumcise males infants on their 8th day of life by a Priest. Keep the 7 Jewish Holidays devout still keep like the Day of Atonement.

The problem with many Christians is they are being spoon fed second hand information that is not accurate in the area of tithing. If anyone is too lazy to read the bible in Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy then call any local Jewish Orthodox synagogue to discover that tithing was the least of the 613 Old Covenant laws. Tithes was food from the land that God allotted the Jews

I have gone into many of our communities and the churches were the best buildings there. Many churches sit empty all week, when kids stand on the corner. Love this video, and Tonya, you are right. Christianity was forced upon blacks by their white slave masters. It is endemic to Africa, but to EAST Africa. We come from WEST Africa where the religion-of-the-day was Islam. Christianity was created by Whites for Whites; the Bible is NOT the word of god. I'm a black male and I couldn't have said it better myself. Finally somebody exposing the black "entertainment" christian church. The church is suppose to uplift the community and unite the people. We got thousands of different black churches some located only a few feet from each other and most "supposedly" worship the same God. Then we as a people wonder why we can't bring our communities out of poverty. We can't get it right on sunday so you know it won't get done during the rest of week.

Visit black churches all over the country; New York is one city, there are other cities in New York State and 49 other states. We got Hindus (with their liquor stores) and the Asians (with their black hair stores) and white folks taking our money out of our communities and showing us no respect, do we need to talk about the black church? One of the reasons for your confusion is that the "churches" are filled with the converts of men and not of God. Saving faith doesn't transfer down to your kids, but cultural religion does. Look up Christianity in Ethiopia. They have christian churches there that predate anything in Europe. The main reason Christianity didn't spread throughout Africa until the whites came was because the spread of islam in northern africa nearly crushed it and didn't allow it to spread.

I would like to help churches to collaborate to address more of the social issues of our congregants but criticism doesn't help that cause. I doubt that the values expressed by most of our Presidents would have been as compassionate without the influences of their churches. Churches must build people with character and love before indulging into building communities and cities of brick and mortar. Church should not be driven by finance. Finance is a tool to help meet the needs of the people

The Church should not be about color as much as love. I write that while agreeing with you that we as a church should be socially relevant as well. The church has a history of producing most of the Black Scholars of our time, because the root of the church is to teach. We provide social services that span from teaching literacy to vocational skills and counseling individuals and families. Please don't judge a global group of believers by your personal limited experience of Christian Churches.

You speak of the Black Christian church as though it has some different identity than that of other Christian Churches. First of all, before there were so many self-seeking and divisive groups that sought out to separate the assembly place because bigots didn't want to worship with Blacks, Jesus prayed that we would be one. I have never really been to a well mixed church, it was always one or the other, and there were stark differences in the churches which were predominantly 'Black.' The drums, the shouting etc. Perhaps the Christian church in general isn't contributing socially in ANY community. Which means the problem is GREATER than I thought

Tonya, I may not have been as clear in my writing. I am saying that there ARE churches that are socially relevant and some of them are predominantly Black. The ethnic mix of a congregation shouldn't determine the social issues that are to be addressed. I have served in churches attended by Mexicans, Blacks, and Whites and we have done our best to help people regardless of race. Singles conferences should allow both men and women to attend together so that some will meet each other and possibly end up getting married as a result of attending single conferences.That one is a no brainer. I think that unless the conferences and churches are telling Black women they cannot date outside their race then those Black women who find men of other races attractive should know that they can date them. Especially since Christianity does not discourage it.

I think the Black women in churches who dress like that are just desperate to get husbands and think that dressing that way is the right way to go about accomplishing that. They are caught up in worldly thinking and have not yet developed a spiritual as opposed to carnal mind. They do not want be sluts but they just want to have a husband. godsholywoman i agree churchs are worst than clubs when it come to men and women hooking up.women are guilty to because they be looking for men in church.they think a church going man is going to be faithful lol thats a joke in most cases.some churchs teach GOD is going to send u a mate and thats not the truth u pick who u want.men use that lie on women by saying GOD sent me to u.God doesnt do hook up's adam is the only one that could point at GOD about his mate and he was wrong for being weak.

I think there is no way churches can possibly be worse than clubs when it comes to men and women fornicating. I mean,everybody or close to it goes to clubs to get laid. Not everyone goes to church for that purpose.Come on now. You're exaggerating.
I think women are really looking for husbands in churches but they often end up with guys that are not even fit to talk to let alone marry. They just are weak to that flesh.
God will give you a mate.My dad asked God for a wife. Married 50 yrs now.

you'll be surprised what goes down in churches nowadays...but we don't go to church for mates and such...we go to church for edification, fellowship and worship to god as a whole! we find our mate in the spirit, not in the church (John 4:24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.") acts 2:42 is a pretty good example of fellowship. impossible and exaggerating are words i despise for the context the hold....limited and defeating words i don't agree with

godsholywoman are u a black woman dating a white man or some other race ? My ex left me for a white guy she work with and she is a christan.I dont blame her for leaving me at that point because i was a playa which made me a man living a lie and a lier.I dont think the black churchs discourage black women from dating out of there race.

I do not think they discourage them by preaching against interracial dating but they do not encourage Black women to date outside their race by telling them they can do so either. In other words,they do not give them the idea that if Christian Black men are not finding them maybe they should allow themselves to be found by Christian men regardless of their race. Again,I reiterate,it is unBiblical for women to go looking for husbands.Women that do so are endangering themselves.

My church is very active in the Black Community, especially concerning youth. The Police Department heard about what we were doing, and they hosted a summer program at our church.

There is a lot of fornication,period. It is just that churches have their fair share of fornicators,unfortunately. What churches need to do is focus more on singles ministries and helping to facilitate like minded compatible Christians meeting and getting married. They need to establish church run dating services. We do not go to church to meet mates but we as Christians sure hope we find wives and husbands in the church or they find us. I do not care for Hip Hop either.

Ministers should never pressure men to marry women or vice versa.If a person marries it should be out of love,not because they have to. However,ministers should always make it clear that fornication is not tolerated among God's people and that members who fornicate will face consequences both from God and man.The Bible actually commands believers to not even eat with a brother or sister that is committed to sinning.Nothing wrong with interracial marriages. Hip Hop Gospel works for some.

Considering that Christianity originated in the Middle East it is ludicrous for anyone to say that it is a White man's religion. However,you are correct. What is important is a person's personal relationship with the one and only true God,not religion.
The church or the body of Christ has remain unspotted from the world but not every church that claims to be Christian is of the body of Christ.

Bethel Gospel Assembly has drug and alcohol ministry, business group, women abuse ministry, jail ministry. They help members with taxes, fix their credit, feed homeless, respite for abused children, stay healthy. Currently they are under construction and have employed members to run the cafe, catering, construction, and maintenance. They also are a missions based church where they go to Africa, the Caribbean, and South America.

Sounds like the kind of church that maybe could help Tonya find her way to the one and only true God. If she was discouraged from the Christian faith by witnessing the behavior of false Christians in Christian churches in which the people were not following Christ then maybe a good Christian church like yours can encourage her to return to the faith. Please understand every church has false christians. Even the ones who are trying to be Christ like have flaws. However, the majority or the ones in charge of those that I mentioned are really trying to do the work of the Lord. Unfortunately, they get little to no publicity.

I think some of what you pointed out is right but if and when you do a little more research you'll find that black churches are doing a lot for the community. We just don't hear about it because we are always focused on the negative. If a Pastor, or Deacon, or what ever, visits someone in the hospital, something is being done for the community.

Tonya, YOU are SO RIGHT! Unfortunately, where religion is concerned black folks lose their minds altogether. I see the same ills here in Atlanta that you see. So many churches want the empowerment to be ascribed to their church and their senior pastor but not to the PEOPLE who comprise the church. SO, in my opinion, what are churches doing to uplift the community? Not enough. So many pastors dont even care to know their congregation just preach at them on Sunday. I know God is not pleased
