  • Always cracks me up when Ginger says "What?!" at 1:14 lol

  • @canon21100 Seriously, I love the fact that someone else gets a kick out of that! I also appreciate when she informs him that if he prints it, she'll "wrap a chair around [his] neck."

  • I'm 16 and i love this era

  • Back when it was ok for men to dance like this without be labeled as gay. Now to be a man you have to bump and grind and look like a total douche. My how times have changed. =(

  • Ginger was peachy! a uniquely great dancer, actress and comedienne. She had VERVE. A woman self-freed.

  • I was definetly born in the wrong era :)

  • Why,god, why was I born in the wrong era?

  • just saw this movie late night and this part was indeed my favourite!

the part with the gent on his ankle while makin a circle was IMPRESSIVE

  • Fantastic movie! I loved the scene where Miss Rogers tapped out a tune, she put all other tap dancers to shame. Just a fun movie to loose yourself in.

  • Why don't people dance like this anymore?

Think of how amazing school dances would be...maybe I'd actually GO.

  • Well-like Roxie,ya ought .

  • @AutumnEpple WWII/1940s events are becoming more and more common place now. Keep an eye out for them and get tickets as soon as possible :) they are so much fun. And swing dance classes :)

  • @AutumnEpple you should go and just dance like this and see how may people try to keep up with you!!

  • "I don't know if I ought"

LOL Of course you ought, Roxie :-D

  • Ya'all do know this film is what the more recent "Chicago" is from, right?

  • To put it a little more accurately, "Chicago" was originally a play back in the 20's. They made this sanitized movie version of the play with Ginger Rogers in the 40's. Bob Fosse later made a musical version of the original 20's play, which was later adapted and made into the latest "Chicago" movie.

  • Actually I do believe you are absolutely correct! I can't believe I forgot about the original! Talk about an old age brain fart. I remember people I know questioning whether Richard Gere "could do" a musical and my reply was , "It's a stage show, of course he can DO it." Always loved Bob Fosse.

  • that's just great... in this film Ginger sometimes reminds me of Rita Hayworth...

i think it's amazuing how many different parts she was able to play... virtually everything!

  • This is one of my favorite Ginger movies. It is different from the usual movies she was in. Just goes to show you how great a actress she was. She does a great job as a floozy.

  • haha love the move at 00:25 .x

  • hahaha the "black bottom"

  • I seen this movie, one day i just came across it, and it was amazing,.

lol, Roxie had all the men.

  • where did you come across it? online? Can't find it anywhere.

  • No it was on tv one day.

and I just happen to come across it

  • I love this movie and I LOVE Ginger Rogers!

  • I love the style and the class of that era, women got dressed and looked elegant not trashy and men were well groomed and wore hats. Love it.

  • @KurlyQ21 Women today have taken feminism and trashed it up completely.

  • Great video! Does nayone know where to get that version of the song?

    Thanks

  • Hotcha! For a film that was not a musical, love the way that it suddenly vamps into this dance production. Everyone one in it moves like a pro dancer.Wondered if this, and the Charleston scene that was cut,is what helped inspire it to be re written as a stage musical.

  • This is were Bob Fossy got the dance to Chicago

  • Ginger Rogers use to compete in dance competitions in when she lived as a teenager in Texas and usually won them.

That was in the early and mid-twenties and I guess she just used old competition skills.

I hated the hair, but then, Roxie was suppose to be a cheap floozy.

  • Yep, I'm sure she did use her knowledge of 20s dance moves for this film! If you read her autobiography you can get more info about her teen years of Charleston competitions and such.

  • is she doing the black bottom?

  • I am reliably informed by an expert that she does the black bottom for the first 35 seconds. This involves slapping your bottom and stamping or in the US stomping your feet with a heel toe scooping movement. After that it's the Charleston all the way but of course the music is the Black Bottom.

  • Thanks for the information!

  • now that's my idea of a good time

  • I like the new version better but this one is ok!

  • Your video is great and I've given you 5 stars. Please check out my latest clip of 1930's movie icon trading cards when you have time: Ginger Rogers, Heather Angel, Shirley Temple, Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, Katharine Hepburn...and lots more.
