Nice truck. Good luck with it. I got my 2011 Chevy 2500hd, Duramax, 4x4, Crew Cab LTZ, steel green a few months back and I absolutely love it. You get a whole new appreciation for the LML when you're merging onto the highway with an 8,000lb trailer, you go to check your mirror, and then glance back at your speedometer and you're unknowingly going 85 MPH.
@BallzDeepClan1 I posted it somewhere earlier down here.... the sticker was $63K, (Dealer), and $61K factory. and I paid $59K ... this was in Oct 2010 and they were brand new... today they're not quite as fresh news and so it might be softer.. this was a loaded LTZ ...
@peanuttization that's likely part of it, and the LT is a lot less to begin with... LTZ package and rear DVD/NAV and a few other items adds up fast.. Z71 is a $300 option I think, and I only opted for the protection plates part of that as I don't go off road.
@TheOfficerBell I get 17-21 mpg average now.... I've seen 22 on straight and level roads over a distance using the onboard computer however while traveling at 65.
@Nekrophiliac333 thanks, yeah, it was sad... I went to all 3 manufacturers dealers and ended up schooling all 3 salesmen on the difference and similarity between them all.... worse one was frankly the Chevy guy who was nothing but a go between for the sales manager... I was already sold on the truck before I walked back on the lot.. anyway...thanks
@auburnboy141 No, I'm going to keep it bone stock.... I see no advantage to making it louder or smokier... that just adds to the hate some people have for diesel trucks... the idea for me is to encourage more people to get these, not discourage it by making them into something that turns off a lot of people.
Nice truck man! I've been meaning to trade in my 2004 GMC 2500hd for awhile now but just haven't got around to it. The interior quality is so much nicer on these newer trucks.
@TriggerHappyLunatics yeah, I know some like the big tire look, I honestly prefer the stock look.... if it were a 4 wheeling truck, maybe, but it's a road vehicle..
@CE750 Well the tires I have on my Silverado are road tires, but they are wider and and have high sidewalls, I believe they are Wrangler RT/S P265/75r16.
@CE750 both the towing is the same the payload isnt i own a GMC denahli HD and at the dealer they said that and i found out the towing pretty impressive for a 12 yr old huh?
@theDscotty 12-18 mpg depending on whether it's city or highway.. worse I've seen is about 10mpg in stop and go type city.. and best is 19mpg with cruise control at 60mph on a level road.
@mwd92 I see 18-19 on the highway driving at about 65-70.. I have only towed with it once, about 6000lbs.. and that was showing 15mpg highway... For in town driving, I'm averaging about 13mpg.. Not at all bad for the size and power output.. plus, I am running B20 which is going to hit the milage a bit.
Love the video that's the exsact same truck I'm lookin for can't wait to test drive and hopefully purchase one! 2011 2500hd Alison transmission duramax diesel 4x4 the only way to go!! Love it man! Thanks for the video alota usefully info
@Collecian no regrets at all... absolutely love it. The 2007-10's are a bit lighter, but still a whole lot more truck that I need... And you don't have to worry about the Urea fluid issue.
Great truck man. The 2011 really makes me wish I had waited another 2 years before getting a new Duramax. Mine's a 2009 GMC. I like the 2011's mainly for the new chassis and suspension, especially the front suspension. It's a lot sturdier and more durable than the previous years. I'm not a fan of the new emissions though. How often do you have to refill the urea tank?
@BBTthetank Well, I keep a spare gallon in the truck just incase I run out (though you get multiple layers of warnings)... but it's a 5 gallon tank, and I'm at 1600 miles now and it's hard to tell, but I think it's about 2/3's full... at about $7/gallon it's about $35 every oil change more cost... but it's amazing to see absolutely no smoke (even at full throttle) and have lower NOs emissions than many gassers.. As for waiting... it's like computers man, you can just keep waiting... I never do!
@YoungDuramax gotta take it into the dealer and demand they get it working right... there are a few of these having issues with cold weather start/run... it's probably a case of a faulty sensor, or heater in the DEF system.
Nice truck, personally i prefer a manual transmission, but as far as i know, that isn´t awable on the Silverados. I do have a Isuzu-engine myself, then rather in the other end of the scale. it´s a puny 1.7 Diesel wint a 124 Foot-Pounds of torque. But thats what you get if you can´t spend to much on a car. I´m really dreaming of buying a Toyota HiLux myelf. In Norway we do have an real rare edition of it, whom i´d like to buy.
@Torvikholm Yes, for a while these had the option for a ZF6 transmission, but GM decided the Allison was more heavy duty (it's basically a version of the commercial Allison 1000), so that's all we can get with the diesel engine option. Toyota makes a good and reliable truck, the problem is they don't make a true heavy duty truck for personal use... they're talking about a diesel powered "HD" truck, but I've not seen anything here other than Tundra.
@wacey2002 that would be the 5 gallon Urea tank.. it hangs down about the same as the frame so its not a "low point" .. that angle makes it look a lot lower... there's about 12" clearance from the tank to the ground.
@bloodlett1 which oil is the best is very subjective.. most of the brand name synthetics are good... Mobil 1 Delvac, Amsoil and Scaheffer are three that I like... I went with Schatfer for the additive package. Also, there is no long break in on these newer duramax engines... 1000 miles is plenty.. newer engines are very high tolerance and don't need that 10k break in anymore.
@ABWarMachine I am using Schaffer 9000 (fully synthetic) commercial duty diesel oil.. but I also like the Mobil 1 Synthetic Delvac.. the Schaffer seems to have a very good reputation among fleet and commercial users.
@ABWarMachine I'm interested in the cab lights if you know a good source for them, let me know... but the running boards aren't my cut of tea... just don't like how they look on a truck.. (to each their own i guess.)
@CE750 I shopped around before getting them frm the dealer, but the dealer price & install was to good to pass up. JC Whitney sells them. The cab lights I have are frm Pacer brand. Recon also makes them.
@HOMI3INK not sure what you mean about the mudflaps... I had them installed at the dealer if that's what you're asking... as for limp mode... no, I have only had the truck a month and a half, with 1200 miles.. so until I go closer to 5000, I won't get to where the DEF is low enough.. but since it's cheap, I just keep topping it off when ever I pop the hood and that way, no worries!
@HOMI3INK mud guards are like that...some love em, some hate em... I fall into the former. As for milage, it's 13-14 in town, and 22-23 highway @ 65, no load from the few times I checked it.... I'd like to do a longer range run, but this is from Portland to Salem, about 30 miles.
@1smokingunz good luck... so often they don't give you anything fair for a trade.. but if they don't, at least demand a great price on the buy.. I got 3K off sticker.. and soon, they'll be clearing 2011's and it's gonna be closer to 5K+
@jeepguinness that is the wonderful thing about living in the USA... we can have a choice between which we like best and vote with our wallet.. clearly I don't agree or Ford would have gotten my $62K but again, that's what's nice about freedom.. plus we get competition which makes for better trucks.
I really love the current generation Silverados and Sierras, but those wheels are pretty bad... They have a windmill design that I don't particularly like, but other than that, beautiful truck.
wow, awesome truck. i think that every option you can get. didnt even know about the trans cover. i hope you have the marker roof lamps, i didnt see them in the vid. congrats on the truck
@arfbarg Thanks, I got just about all the major factory options I wanted... there were a few major things I didn't get... like Z-71 (although I had the dealer put on the one part I really wanted, the skid plates) since I don't really plan to do a lot of off roading . The covers were done at the dealer, not the factory, but you can easily order them from a lot of authorized resellers for Mag-Hytec.
