@shirleygibson Radio & 5 live are both broadcast from BBC TV Centre the same as BBC TV news. Thats why they got affected as well.

Watching these videos makes me wonder how TV stations around the world operate.

I know this sounds hard, but in other places there are (virtually) no outages. And even if there are, they are typically fixed within an hour or so. At least the bavarian broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk has emergency power to power at least one radio channel even in the event of a power outage.

it was actually a complex event, they have backups of course, but the powercut caused a freak electrical problem that caused overheating in electrical equipment that stopped the backup diesel generators working

Hello! wow in the uk the reporters actually tell the viewers, the reason for the problems the television chanel is having, or why a television show was cancel. Here in the states you get only get an explanation only for the president's speach. Oh I just love your country!

Wonder how ITV and C4 would cope without the use of the London Studios due to Power Cuts?

C5 have Sky for backup there ok but Sky only i think has one centre so c5 looks in trouble also.

There was no power Failure in 2002, and the

third power failure came on by the end of

November 2003, BBC News 24 was evacuted and

moved to Westminister. BBC Radio 4 and BBC

Radio Five Live went off air during Breakfast

programes, BBC1 and BBC2 is holding normal

afternoon programes.
