  • Nice jams here; if you'll check out Tim Lerch's demo of this pickup in the neck position of his Tele, you'll find that this Lollar p.u.is absolutely built for jazz. Nevermind the fact that he could make a 2x4 plank sound musical ...

  • @vampyros1 Thank you for watching. I have to say one thing about my guitar. It has no tone control. This means no circuit that makes treble roll-off. I tried Valley-arts Tele with Lollar CC. It was really jazzy :-) Thanks

  • うーーーーーん

    達人ですな!

  • @yakimonoya ありがとうございます。恐縮です。

  • Hey, this sounds really nice, thank you.

I am in the process of building a Thinline Telecaster with a Lollar CC neck pickup. Can't wait to hear the result. My Telly will have swamp ash body and maple neck though. So theoretically it should sound a bit brighter than yours.

I love the sound of the Lollar CC, warm and jazzy/bluesy but still clear sounding.

  • Thank you for watching.

Yes,maybe it will be brighter a little. I like ash bodied thinline, too.

Good Maho has very wide freq range. So my thinline is very loud like acoustic guitar.

Now Lollar has CC bridge pickup and I installed it on this thinline.

    Thank you.

  • If you can, I would love to see a video of the bridge pickup. No rush, but that would be really helpful for a future guitar project. I've seen one video of that pickup, but the demonstration was a little limited.

If a video is in the works, I'd love to see it!

Love this video BTW. Great guitar sound and great song.

  • Thanks. I've been thinking I have to do since I installed it.

I will do ASAP but it will be in another style of blues.

Because the programing for the horn section is very hard and it takes time to complete:-)

  • Awesome :-) Thanks for the response... again, love your playing

  • do you know what value potentiometers you have in this guitar?

  • I didn't change the pot from the previous one. So It's 250k.

    Thanks.

  • This is brighter sounding than I expected it to be! What is your telecaster made of? Also, is it like a standard chambered Fender Tele with the sides hollowed out and just a soundblock running through the middle?

  • The body is mahogany and the neck is maple. The body is not laminated. It is a solid one piece.

This thinline sounds very loud like acoustic guitar even in unplugged. So Lollar CC pickup is picking up that brighter sound. I think that is the reason why this guitar sounds brighter.

CC pickup is not humbucker. So this is its correct sound,I think.

    Thank you so much.

    Thank you.

  • Thanks for the response. One question though. Does the thinline have the bottom side (side with the controls) hollowed or chambered out like a 69 thinline body, or is it like a 72 thinline where the bottom side is solid while the side with the f-hole is chambered?

  • Ummm...At first, this was made as custom guitar for me.

So The construction is different from the current and past Fender thinline. The first time I ordered this guitar, I didn't think of jazz-like guitar. This was a trial for wide frequency ranged guitar. So the taste remains even if the pickups were replaced with Lollar CC.

If you want Jazz-sound with Lollar CC,other set-up for jazz will be also needed. I want to show you if I can. It's hard to explain for me :-) Thanks.

  • Hmm, I think I understand. So then the construction is not like any of the Fender Thinlines. If I wanted a Jazzier sounding guitar with the Lollar CC, I would need different construction. Is that correct? If somehow there was a way for me to see the insides of the guitar, that would be fantastic, but I really doubt that's possible! Thanks for all the help!

  • I think current Fender 70s Thinline (with two hums) is better for Jazz. If you install Lollar CC on it,it may be the one closer to what you need(Maybe :-))

I think remarkable taste of LollarCC is the mid-range.

The high-end and lo-end are just the bodys are.

That's why I think 70Thinline is better for jazz.

I did not expect Jazz sound. I expected smoky bluesy sound. So I succeeded :-)

    Thanks. Good luck!

  • great replica pickup and playing!

  • Thanks. Yes,I love this pickup :-)

  • hi,what bridge pickup do you install ?thanks

  • Before replacing the neck pickup to Lollar CC,a pair of AERO pickups were mounted. So the bridge PU is AERO.

Though AERO is not so popular brand, their pickups are excellent. (They are well-known as Fodera bass' pickups by bass players)

But I haven't tried any other bridge PUs yet. I will check some major PUs.

AERO has very clean and rich tone but it maybe too clean for combination with Lollar CC because it is smokey :-)

    Thank you for watching this.

  • from the metal side of music, love your blues!!!

  • Thank you.

    It's a music of good old easy-going time :-)

  • Konichiwa. Great man, very great your deal. I suscribe, this is Madrid Spain. Blues Bless U.

  • Hi,kon-nichiwa.

Thank you for comment and subs.

  • T-Bone's definitely smilin'. Well done. Fantastic playing.

  • Thank you.

I thought the best way to express the tone of this pickup was to play like T-Bone.

The vids on your channel are also nice.

    Thanks

  • Sounds a lot like Cornell Dupree!! great!!

  • Cornell Dupree? Really?:-)

This time,I tried T-bone and C Gatemouth Brown styles :-)

Anyway so glad to hear that from you.

Please watch my 66Telecaster demo video.

That is C.Dupree style I imagined.

    Thank you so much.

  • Yeah you're touch and attack remind me of him. That guy was a phenomonal R & B rhythm player.

  • I am not an expert with pickups, but it seems that you were right: it works very well for Jump Blues and your playin' is marvelous. 10 points if it were possibel, so five. :=)

  • Thank you Lena-san.

I also have National electric guitar demo tune.

But I didn't take any video then.

    Someday I'll re-make it.

    Thanks.

  • Mandy-san:-)

My next video will be a loose and dull blues :-)

  • Thanks,Rodney-san.

    You too!!

  • Oh my gosh!! This was awesome Gomente!! I was dancin'!!!!! WooHoo!! You are so awesome my friend!!! I'm favin' this one so I can listen a lot!! LOLLL

  • Sherri-san I have plans of two more video I have to make.

    Two demos in different style.

It's hard to make but fun! :-)

    Thank you.

  • Great playing Gomente!

  • Pablo-san Gokuro-san :-)

    Ganbatte!!

  • Hey Gomente!! This was hot!! I love this jumping blues/swing sound!! One of my favorite sounds of all!!! Great! I wish the volume was consistant too but I know it is great!! Wish you lived closer!! We would have a blast I think jamming!

  • Haha..Thank you Suzie-san.

Yes,I like T-bone walker and have been thinking of video in his style.

I wanted to wear white suit and tie but gave up.

It's too hot to wear it now in Tokyo !:-)

Of course I wish I visit Canada someday (If I have patience of no-smoking for 11 hours:-))

  • Terry (BocaFriend) led me here. This is very nice indeed.

  • Thank you. I love both "fender" and "mac" :-)

Terry-san and I have common friends. I was amazed! What a small world!

  • Thanks for the warning about the volume so I could be quick to make adjustments when it suddenly bloomed up, but, aside from that tech glitch, this was just outstanding! It's awesome to watch you accompany yourself like this! How is it that some YouTube musicians can post in stereo while others do not. Would that possibly help to even out your volume dynamics with guitar, horns, bass? ~Terry

  • Terry-san,Thank you.

I heard that stereo-posting is available by taking a special tips. But for people playing old songs like me,mono is OK :-)

But if the stereo-posting solve that issue,I will try it next time.

    Thank you.

  • I have no idea if posting in stereo would help or if it would be double trouble! But maybe someone else with experience in stereo YT posts

will answer. Meanwhile, whatever it takes to keep the great tunes flowing...(I'd rather have it too loud than too soft or sound drops!) ~T

  • Hi,Mandy-san. Thank you.

This time, the best players in the vid are "GOMENTE HORNS" in my Mac :-):-)

  • Oh..Rodney-san. How are you doing?

Also I've not posted any videos since 3month ago.

Because I've not had any ideas for my vids.

Thank you. Look forward to hear your voices again

  • Outstanding Blues playing my friend! That was excellent, I enjoyed it... FrAnK (5*****)

  • Hi,FrAnk-san!!

In fact,I played this guitar too much before the recording. So my fingers were aching and tired when recording :-)

    Thank you.

  • Oh yea!! Dancin' in my chair!! Sounds awesome!!

  • Yes!! Of course I made this thinking of dancing Sherri-san and Artie-san :-):-)

(Especially thinking of Sherri-san lifting Artie-san up!!:-):-))

Thank you. Soon I will visit your page!

  • awesome - I am a huge fan of Charlie Christian and really thought your choice of using a semi-hollow tele was cool. Nice job. 5*s

  • Thank you. In fact,it was hard work for me to make this.

I purchased the sampled horn software and had to study how to operate it.

This is a very real horns but is hard to program instead:-).

  • Yaaaaay Jazzy! It's almost as cool as your humour =D

  • Haha..

    I'm always serious!! :-):-)

    Thank you!!

  • smokin' !!

  • Yeah. 'Cuz I'm a smoker! :-):-)

    Thank you!
