  • finger dexterity... i didnt even see the pick move much... i cant do that. lol.

  • I rather not use distortion. my amp has a "metal" effect and i just use it...

  • do you need pedal?

  • Hi, no im not using a pedal, just distortion from the amp.

  • Are you playing the different pentatonic patterns up and down the neck?

  • Hi, no its the first 6 notes of the G major scale....

    Dan

  • Oh - so it's just the G scale but you're going higher and higher in octaves?

  • Yep, on the low E is frets 3,5,7,5,3,5,7 then the same on the A string. This pattern is repeated up a further two octaves.

  • good player...

  • Do you rest your right hand on the bridge? If not, where do you put it!?!?!?

  • Hi, it sort of hovers above the strings. sometimes i mute strings im not using by placing part of my hand on them. I do that here.

  • I do the same thing lol

  • thats all legatto aint it?

  • Hi,yeah its all hammer ons and pull offs apart from when i change strings. I pick then. Thats a good rule for a smooth sound - only pick when you have to.

  • fukin hell i dont get shredding so many different types. some ppl like ur vid just hammer on all the notes without hittin ever stroke, other just have insane speed with picking....such a hard technique to learn by myself :(

    any tips dude?

  • Hi. Well I allways find that legato (hammer-ons and pull-offs) advances quicker than alternate picking really fast. I learned alot about legato from Joe Satriani and for picking check out Paul Gilbert. Or maybe john petrucci if you like metal stuff? Personally i like a mix of the two techniques and i hardly ever sweep pick because i often arrange large intervals with string skipping.....

You can message me sometime if you want some help : )

  • Its frets 3,5,7,5,3,5,7 on the low E then the same on the A string. Then repeat up in octaves. Im only picking the first note on each string. And, its grouped in 7's....

  • Your the dude that lives in portsmouth? Referring to the Uk's portsmouth right? Ha, nice one. mee too!. Im glad there is good shredder's like us around man. give me a mail or something some time.

  • Yeah near there.... Do i know you?

  • Chances are you do not know me man , no. i been playing for around a year and a half. just come across your video, saw in your caption that your local, i'll hook you up i think.

  • hey man, could you help me learn that? like, tabs or something? thats sooo sik. youre really good? do you play in a band or have a solo project or something?

  • Yep he sure does but im giving a legato example. On one of the other clips i have done there is a Paul Gilbert style alternate picking lick...

  • does gilbert not alternate pick?

  • What kind of pickups do u got?

I got a Ibanez RG350DX with inf 2 and 3´s which is just so and so!

  • Hi, i fitted a set of dimarzio evo's in a while ago. There better than the stock dimarzio's it came with....And i love the white and black design ;)

  • Cheers i love paul gilbert. Hes incredible live.

Im just using a line 6 spider 30 watt amp and sometimes a external compression pedal so i can lay off the gain.

I havent done any more work on the tutorial for a while as i have been teaching quite a bit, and uni is keeping me busy, lol.

  • good=) What amp do you use?

  • man your awesome , paul gilbert style , yeah
