All proffessional footballers are over paid for a start BUT...

Ronaldo is definitely glorified, he dissapears against any top class opposition and only plays well against 2nd rate full backs.

Rooney on the other hand is the heart beat of United. He does so much work off the ball but isn't rated enough purely because he doesn't get the goals. But the man gets plenty of assists, both direct and indirect, and he ALWAYS shows up in the big games (unlike Ronaldo).

Definitely 2nd rate. I hate Ashley Cole (obviously) but he, just like my man Clichy, usually takes care of Ronaldo. Looking at all the big CL games, no-one can argue that Ronaldo doesn't go missing from time to time. Rooney on the other hand, is immensly talented, particularly in the techincal side of his game. He's good enough to take over Scholes' role after he retires. Passing, movement, vision, he's got it. For me, Ronaldo is just a winger, and as players, wingers (of his mould) are limited.
