I have to disagree with your video, I'm not a fanboy of neither AMD or Intel....but the 980x destroys the 1100t hands down. Yes the 1100ot is good for the price but this is an outright slaughter house. I think comparing the 970 or 950 to 1100t is more of a valid discussion. Yes one is Quad (hyper thread) and the other is true six core, but even so for a quad to still beat a hexa-core shows how munch ahead Intel is.
2 AMD cores=1 intel core w/o hyper threading. 3 AMD cores=1 i7 2600k core with hyperthreading. You get better performance per watt and core with Intel. BTW 8150 was a big let down. Im gonna stick with my i5 sandy bridge until Ivy Bridge comes out.

The main reason Apple chose Intel over AMD is because of the hyper threading on i5 and i7 CPUs and benchmark performance scores, they wipe the floor with AMD's low processing performance as seen on pressmark website. But AMD being cheaper would make everything lower in price. Mac Mini $400, iMac $700, Macbook Air $600, Macbook Pro $700. Apple wouldn't do it though because they want performance in there computers.
@ViciousDave4Life Dave are you getting the new 8150 or are you gonna upgrade to an 2011 cpu or Ivy Bridge? I feel that Amd has to go back to the drawing board and rearrange their architecture to get better performance out of the 8 cores. So they'll probly come out with a new socket next fall. More cores doesn't always mean better performance. The i5 2500k matches up to the 8150 and is $40 less.

After that it is the 980x, and after that it's a few of the new sandybridge i7s, and than 2500k i5. It's been benchmarked everywhere that the old Intel's score higher benchmarks than the new sandybridge processors.

Well from a gaming standpoin you 're much better of with an i5 Sandy Bridge.On the other hand if you 're looking for a CPU that meets your daily professional requirements Phenom X6 is the way to go. Most of the top ones are Xeons and Core i7 980x range along with 3 core i5s. AMD is low powered. I needed to upgrade from my Phenom II x4 940 - I priced all of the AM3 boards and CPUs - I considered a hexacore AMD. @bobdude17 Yeah, check out passmark. They have listed all the CPUs of AMD and Intel, and AMD doesn't even show up on the high end chart until 45th with it's AMD Phenom II x6 1100T. Every single Intel Core i7 is above that accept for the ones below 2.6GHZ, and all the Xeons are above also. With AMDs top processor only at 45, they fail compared to i7 and Xeon. Although, I've found these top cards at $300+ more cost.

Second intel uses hyperthreading on their cpus and this means that their 4 core processors have 4 physical cores and 4 virtual cores... do some simple addition and you get 8 cores, so this 6 core intel verses your 6 core amd was not a fair fight because you just compared a 6 core processor to a 12 core processor. In benchmarks, Intel 6 cores is one of the top ten best desktop CPUs on the entire market, while AMD top CPU is only 14th mark3dbenchmark website. Threading is good, but they are not cores, it's virtual. More power? Technically yes, but the power of cores does more.
@ViciousDave4Life I did watch the whole video and i do not recall you mentioning the threading, BUT i may have missed it. Even if the threads arent technical cores they allow the core to do two things at once therefor almost doubling the processing power of the cpu. In the end it performs on a 12ish core level if the ish makes you feel better. If you test them in a program made for testing your cpu i believe it picks up the threads as a core anyway. Dont quote me on that but i believe thats true

@Randallquezada L2 cache runs at core speed and has the raw data and instructions. There is L1 too, L1 cache has decoded all the instructions so L1 is super fast but expensive since it's higly integrated into the CPU and becomes very complex when it's large. L2 is basically a piece of memory close to the CPU that contains recently accessed data and instructions. L3 is slower than L2 but it's less complex, cheaper in terms of CPU complexity and it's vastly superior to system RAM. Check Wikipedia.

Mac's FTW, better UI. I completely agree, AMD is way better for gaming, and better power conservation. Intel is only meant for editing. My current i5 3.6 Ghz has it's ass handed to it in a game of Crisis 2, vs the Phenom II X4. looking at purchasing a new 6 core soon. they only good thing about intel is....good for editing...nothing else.
This guy doesn't know what he is talking about. You can't compare two CPU's by their cache only. The $800 provides a much better instruction set with Intel than AMD. The 1075T (which is AMD's hexacore processor) gets pummeled by old i7 (not even the Sandy Bridge ones). So his logic doesn't make sense (i7 4 cores beats 1075T six cores). I am not an Intel fanatic by the way, I am about to buy a 1075 because it is so cheap. He should do more research.

This makes Mac OS X look old, I know, but Windows is still using a DLL registry and NTFS file system, that's old too. Mac OS X and Windows both run on old tech, they've been improving over time an this old tech, nothing really "new" has been made, just improvements to old software formats.

Here is another thing to think about I did my research on Processor Supporting memory the Intel i7's CPU can only handle 1033-1333 DDR3 memory chips and for AMD 6 cores same 1033-1333 DDR3 so that means it does not matter if you buy DDR3 PC2000 or DDR3 1600 these processors will down grade to their own speed of '1033-1333Mhz' so don't wast your money on high end DDR3 PC2000 it's pointless, buy DDR3 PC1600 is good enough!
Very Good and stable processor! easy overclocking, plays all my games without no problems very fast and smooth. If you are comparing this to Intel i7 920, 930 or 950 8 cores in reality it's only running 4 cores 'quad cores' because intel processors have threads and what that does is they input a program on their chip to double there cores it's a software controlled, so 4 cores + 4 software comtrolled cores. On the other hand we all know that AMD is 100% 6 cores raw power!
Both processors are built differently. L3 cache does nothing for the Phenoms. You could save some money by getting a Athlon instead

I have to disagree with your video, I'm not a fanboy of neither AMD or Intel....but the 980x destroys the 1100t hands down. Yes the 1100ot is good for the price but this is an outright slaughter house. I think comparing the 970 or 950 to 1100t is more of a valid discussion. Yes one is Quad (hyper thread) and the other is true six core, but even so for a quad to still beat a hexa-core shows how munch ahead Intel is.

2 AMD cores=1 intel core w/o hyper threading. 3 AMD cores=1 i7 2600k core with hyperthreading. You get better performance per watt and core with Intel. BTW 8150 was a big let down. Im gonna stick with my i5 sandy bridge until Ivy Bridge comes out.

The main reason Apple chose Intel over AMD is because of the hyper threading on i5 and i7 CPUs and benchmark performance scores, they wipe the floor with AMD's low processing performance as seen on pressmark website. But AMD being cheaper would make everything lower in price. Mac Mini $400, iMac $700, Macbook Air $600, Macbook Pro $700. Apple wouldn't do it though because they want performance in there computers.

I feel that Amd has to go back to the drawing board and rearrange their architecture to get better performance out of the 8 cores. So they'll probly come out with a new socket next fall. More cores doesn't always mean better performance. The i5 2500k matches up to the 8150 and is $40 less.

After that it is the 980x, and after that it's a few of the new sandybridge i7s, and than 2500k i5. It's been benchmarked everywhere that the old Intel's score higher benchmarks than the new sandybridge processors.

Well from a gaming standpoin you 're much better of with an i5 Sandy Bridge.On the other hand if you 're looking for a CPU that meets your daily professional requirements Phenom X6 is the way to go. If you want a future proof CPU then go for the Phenom X6 since it's gonna be a long time before quad cores are fully utilized, not to mention the hexacores. And as for price / performance ratio in terms of gaming, Phenom X6 wins by far. 980 is 1.5x times faster while it's 10x more expensive!!!!

Most of the top ones are Xeons and Core i7 980x range along with 3 core i5s. AMD is low powered. I needed to upgrade from my Phenom II x4 940 - I priced all of the AM3 boards and CPUs - I considered a hexacore AMD. I looked at the Intel X58 boards and i7s - I changed to i7 950, EVGA X58 SLI3 and 12 GB of RAM (moving to 24 GB soon) - why? Benchmarks - i7s were walking all over my precious AMDs - and it was only $100 difference (roughly) - no more AMD for me. I am sold on Intel!

@bobdude17 Yeah, check out passmark. They have listed all the CPUs of AMD and Intel, and AMD doesn't even show up on the high end chart until 45th with it's AMD Phenom II x6 1100T. Every single Intel Core i7 is above that accept for the ones below 2.6GHZ, and all the Xeons are above also. With AMDs top processor only at 45, they fail compared to i7 and Xeon. Although, I've found these top cards at $300+ more cost.

Second intel uses hyperthreading on their cpus and this means that their 4 core processors have 4 physical cores and 4 virtual cores... do some simple addition and you get 8 cores, so this 6 core intel verses your 6 core amd was not a fair fight because you just compared a 6 core processor to a 12 core processor. Please do a little more research in the future and not just look at the thumbnails.

Threading is good, but they are not cores, it's virtual. More power? Technically yes, but the power of cores does more.

Even if the threads arent technical cores they allow the core to do two things at once therefor almost doubling the processing power of the cpu. In the end it performs on a 12ish core level if the ish makes you feel better. If you test them in a program made for testing your cpu i believe it picks up the threads as a core anyway. Dont quote me on that but i believe thats true

@Randallquezada L2 cache runs at core speed and has the raw data and instructions. There is L1 too, L1 cache has decoded all the instructions so L1 is super fast but expensive since it's higly integrated into the CPU and becomes very complex when it's large. L2 is basically a piece of memory close to the CPU that contains recently accessed data and instructions. L3 is slower than L2 but it's less complex, cheaper in terms of CPU complexity and it's vastly superior to system RAM. Check Wikipedia.

It's not symetrical computing, because the core 2 duo and the other core 2 duo have no share in cache and are not attached. Read and learn about stuff before you speak. Google it, it's been known for years since 2005 or so when the Intel Core 2 Quad came out.

This guy doesn't know what he is talking about. You can't compare two CPU's by their cache only. The $800 provides a much better instruction set with Intel than AMD. The 1075T (which is AMD's hexacore processor) gets pummeled by old i7 (not even the Sandy Bridge ones). So his logic doesn't make sense (i7 4 cores beats 1075T six cores). I am not an Intel fanatic by the way, I am about to buy a 1075 because it is so cheap. He should do more research.

This makes Mac OS X look old, I know, but Windows is still using a DLL registry and NTFS file system, that's old too. Mac OS X and Windows both run on old tech, they've been improving over time an this old tech, nothing really "new" has been made, just improvements to old software formats.

Here is another thing to think about I did my research on Processor Supporting memory the Intel i7's CPU can only handle 1033-1333 DDR3 memory chips and for AMD 6 cores same 1033-1333 DDR3 so that means it does not matter if you buy DDR3 PC2000 or DDR3 1600 these processors will down grade to their own speed of '1033-1333Mhz' so don't wast your money on high end DDR3 PC2000 it's pointless, buy DDR3 PC1600 is good enough!

Very Good and stable processor! easy overclocking, plays all my games without no problems very fast and smooth. If you are comparing this to Intel i7 920, 930 or 950 8 cores in reality it's only running 4 cores 'quad cores' because intel processors have threads and what that does is they input a program on their chip to double there cores it's a software controlled, so 4 cores + 4 software comtrolled cores. On the other hand we all know that AMD is 100% 6 cores raw power!
