  • The makers of 300 ought to be shot for crimes against history.

  • The history of Naghshe Rostam in Iran

    youtube.com/watch?v=tHZadCpLMPA

  • look ok... the persians tried to take greece and failed. the greeks took persia but the empire was short lived. after that they both went there seperate ways. persia would go on to make the parthian and the sassanid empires. the greeks...after alexander died...rebelled and killed each other until ancient greece was no more...bad example

  • @nintengameguy You seem to read only the headlines of history....

Every strong nation evolves through time, like Iranians that after Greek, Parthian and Arabic invasions they evolved becoming...Iranians!

So did the Greeks, that all Western Europeans repeat the same old shit about the "death of Greece", dreamming that "real ancient Greeks" were "whites" and therefore heirs of Greece are the Westerners!LOL

Rome, Byzantium and the Ottomans are now part of our heritage too, but we are still Greeks!

  • fuck! this ain't the cartoon!!!!

  • this video is full of bullshit

  • great video, thank you very much for uploading!

  • @azf94 My point was exactly what I said. Being appreciative of violence and death, using vulgarities in an open forum, it doesn't make YOU sound like you know what you're talking about. You may want to reread my original comment.

  • @azf94 I'm not talking about your point. I'm talking about the way that you're voicing it. Hatred begets hatred, death begets death. You also seem to have a bit of an inflated ego, if such can be deduced from a Youtube comment, for assuming based on what I said that a) I don't know anything about Alexander and b) That you are somehow more informed than others commenting on this video. Some people may disagree with you knowing all of the facts you do. Ultimately, that wasn't my point. My

  • @azf94 Try voicing your opinion with facts, evidence, reason and philosophy. You very well may be, but you don't sound very educated spewing this volatility.

  • @azf94 Shut up... I am a Persian myself and i respect my foe.

Alexander was just like Cyrus The Great and wanted to create one nation of many people. Cyrus succeed, Alexander succeed to, but unfortunatly his empire did not last long.

Respect the Greeks. YEah we lost 3 wars against them, but we also won. We won against the Lydian greeks in the ballte of Thymbra where persians where outnumbered 1 against 2.

We won at northern greece and in asia minor.

But then they won against us at last :P

  • Muhahahaha, long live Greeks,Kurds and Persians!

  • Very interesting and perfect documentary ..

  • A Farsi subtitle or dubbed would be great for Iranians

  • persian word english use comes from pars iranian word so is kinda close. is the name of old iran

  • i hate when people pronounce persepolis incorrectly. fucking hell.

  • im iranian and not persian, persian is the word that yurops used against iranians.

but hey, persian sounds nice as well.

    IRANIAN =ARYAN

    IRAN PRIDE

  • For all English speaking people, "Cyrus" = Kourosh.

  • thank you for uploading this. I hope I can make my trip there.

  • Vivat Persia! Deus conservet Iran! God bless persia and all the people in it! Persian Pride! fuck our enemies!in the past and in the future !

  • Any idea where to find 'glory of persepolis'?

    thank you very much.

  • Persia !!! Next on my list to visit :-)

  • I love my country!

  • Awesome video

  • This place is FANTASTIC. As a persian, I proude to my history and kings. This is our identity.I recommend you all to go and see one of the breath-taking places in the world, PERSEPOLIS.

  • Eearthspeed. I admire your true words!

  • Mr omidir. I demand you to remove this video from youtube. Instead have a trailer and place a link to a store or site in which you can buy this video. The people that made it deserves every dollar he can make for the countles hours they have put into it.

  • Islamic history is not that powerful.

It only succeeded in destroying the Original themes of the ancient Perisians and subplanted by some third grade Arab culture !

    Muchas gracias.

  • The Persian Empire was faired by us Greeks, and it's history and culture admired. Yes we were enemies ! We fought several times. Acropolis was burned, Delphi was sacked, and for revenge a greek hore convinced Alexander to take revenge by burning Persepolis, at least that is what some historians reveals to us from older texts. Nowadays in Greece their is only admiration for Persian people, probably from respect from the historical facts, that do not do justice for either part. ....

  • @earthspeed ok thirstly cyrus's empire expands the likes of alexanders. perspolis was richer than sparta and athens. and this happened thousands of years ago. alexander, cyrus, xerxes, the persian empire, the macedonan empire..all gone

  • i thought he had a red beared?? persians were brown haired back then not dark.

  • too bad our great persian history is being ruined by the modern iran , long live cyrus and darius

  • its not....your islamic histroy is also as powerfull and as influencing as the hero of the east and the farsi empire!!salam!!

  • I wonder why persian history is not taught in schools like greek or egypt .. They have a hugh impact on today world

  • Yes, but the westerners are so prejudiced that they do not want to highlight any greatness from Aisa !

  • @sahajad If I were to be invited to Iran to tour its wonders, with a promise that I would be respected as a stranger to the country, I'd DEFINITELY go!!!

  • I'm currently reading the Cyropaedia and I found this to be a good supplemental video for it. Thank you.

  • happy to hear that :)

  • its true! Cyrus the great is "The Annointed One"! among the Jews! why cant any modern Persian rulers be friends with Jews?

  • for your info, iran hosts the largest population of jews in the region :)

  • earthquakes??!! there goes my plan to restore the entire complex. i guess only two or three buildings might be ok to restore, but the rest is to risky because of earthquake threat. such a shame. it would have been glorious to have it all intact.

  • I am a successful Persian business man in Europe. I am 110% inspired by my ancestors, Cyrus and Darius and their way of ruling by peace and respect for others. I have their ideals deep in my heart when doing business and building up my own empire.

  • Then you should enjoy Omid Jalili's joke:

He begins by saying, "There once was an

    honest Persian businessman...as if!"

  • in a sense it is quite good that iran is kept quite secrete, instead of other stupid nations tryin to steal from it...

  • Yeah Persian Empire was Rich and has such great culture and richs, i would love to see it being shown more as well, u say Greek culture is shown a lot, that is true but at the same time like u say Political issues aswell as well as other major issues effect greece, like Turkey trying to get control over the aegean islands closer to turkey and Fyrom trying to grab a piece of Greek History, but the most complex is Turkey attempting once again at pissing allover things that are so beautiful. so i.

  • Alexander The madman was obsessed by Persia empire.

He had the complex not been wanted and loved by his father. He was just a psycho.

  • this video is great.. but Its annoying why the graphic designers didn't put lighting inside the halls !!

  • Yeah you are correct, but you also have to base ur comments from more then just one source, you call him a wild tyrant.. i call him the best strategic military general that was capable of capturing the persian empire with only 40,000 troops Head On!! and he burnt persepolis, so what the persians burnt athens acropolis before, and the sole perpose for alexanders campaign was to seek revenge against the persians... i have no hate for persians i think of them as our closest cousins and brothers!

  • he also showed respect to the Persian royal family, there is historical evidence for this, too .... he burnt down persepolis in a symbolic way, to indicate the defeat of the persian glory, voluptuous luxury and domination. Persepolis consisted a part of international cultural heritage and we are not glad at its present-day state of decadence, but that's how things worked in expeditions........

  • now that it's all along time ago why don't we let little things like that go and respect the fact that we were and are probably the richest cultures on earth. With all the political crap in Iran, the culture is still alive and always will be just as much as it is in greece. I just wish my country will be free one day so we can show our rich culture to the world like you guys do.

  • I think that modern Greeks are not equal to their ancient ancestors.. I mean, we don't make the most of the knowledge and the cultural heritage that was given to us in such a splendid way... everything is sacrificed upon ignorance and commercial profit :(

  • I'm Iranian, and I got mad love for ze greeks, they are indeed our brothers!

Also, Alexander was a Shanhanshah of Persia =)

So, you could say he was a achaemenid... his son "had persian blood" ^^

  • respect brother! he did indeed have many sons infact. stretched across the areas he conquered. unfortunatly the persian son is said to have been killed by one of the greek generals to stop an heir to the throne.

  • Don' be a traitor to your country. Alexander was nothing but an invader who did much damage to Persepolis and destroyed it.

Of course he admired the Persian culture and Cyrus the great etc, but nevertheless he did some damage to your country !

Therefore being Iranian, please do not bother about Alexander as he should be categorised somewhat like a mixture of George Bush and Obama.

  • Is that with assuming that Obama is a good guy? He is not...

  • No , thats why I said that Alexander is a mixture of those two. All of them are bad.

Besides, Alexander had a son from Roxanna only and she was only a noble woman from Bactria. She has no connection to the Archemenids. Alexander's 2nd wife Stateira who was king Darius's daughter is the only one who had Archemenid blood but Alexander did not live to have a child from her. So your theory that his son had Archemenid blood is wrong !

Long live Kourosh, Cyrus the great !

  • he did have Iranian blood however...

    Bactria was iranian ^^

  • No, Bactria was a land conquered by Cyrus the great. But thye were Aryans too. Anyway his son did not have Archeminied blood and in any case the son was killed when he was 11 yrs. So the matter ends there !

Anyway once again- Long live Kourosh and down with the mad Ayatollahs ! !

  • Iran, land of aryans =)

    Down with the mad Ayatollahs!

  • @MazdakTV dude what the fuck is this bullshit about "iran land of the aryans" all i can say is that being a persian myself whenever one of my fellow countrymen tend to lean the heritage towards aryanism it just upsets and angers me beyond all reason.

  • @ignisacimpetus Dude, sarcasm ;) I'm really anti-nationalistic, internationalism of workers is all for me.

  • @ignisacimpetus you are fucking retarded, not a persian, learn your history cunt.

  • nice doc THANKS omidir

  • was just a movie.. hence the elite force looked like ninjas lol. plus if darius and cryus the great did so much more then alexander why couldnt they ever conquer tiny greece lol? alexander is recognized more because his army was smaller then the persians and his contributions were just as if not more great then darius or cyrus.. lets not forget alexander loved persia and the people he considered persian and greeks equals and respected the language and culture where as persians haveburnedgreece

  • don't forget alexander also burnt perdepolis

  • Keep in mind that managing an empire as great and as huge as the Persian empire was not an easy task without roads, freeways, cars, cellphones, airplanes. Alexander capture the Persian empire, but did not live long enough to manage it. He was a wild tyrant who was not very popular with greeks to begin with and is more well known since Iran's history & history books are burned by alexander and arabs, so what you know is what the Greeks want you to know.

  • Iranians invented post, constructed the silk road and the Suez canal just to be able to get around faster and communicate. Doing those things took time & these kings did not live forever. When Xerxes attacked athens, the greeks RAN and that alone says a lot about their brave soldiers. Cyrus was popular enough to be mentioned in the bible & a copy of his cylinder of human rights is present in the UN building in NYC.

  • You have the right to support your standpoint, but bear in mind that Alexander the Great was not a tyrant as you claim.. On the contrary, he showed great tolerance for the people's religious beliefs that he conquered. For instance, while he was an advocate of the greek pantheon just like all Greeks at the time, he was awarded the title of the Great Pharaoh and the Son of God by the Egyptian clergy, instead of trying to impose violently his religion.

  • Please do not forget what (good things you mentioned above) the Alexander did was what he had heard and learnt from Cyrus.

  • yea you might be right but his tolerance by no means matched that of Cyrus and Darius. I think Xerxes got a tiny bit mad with power

  • Comment removed

  • Dunno why but i was always fascinated by Persia.I remember when i played Age of empires i always chose Persia.

  • it,s wonderful to see this documentary. thank you so much for uploading.

  • Dam you Alexander, Dam you for burning this glory of not only the Iranian people but also the human race!!! >:(

  • if it wasnt for Alexander u would be still in a shithole.....

  • Persia Rules!

  • Just goes to show the fact that Greece could never be compared with Persia.

By the way everyone in the US should know that the UDHR of The UN is a Persian Document as it is based on Xenephons Cyropedia or The Education of Cyrus.

Any way, enough of the Persian pride, I just wonder why it is that no movies have been made about Darius or Cyrus the great as their accomplishments were far greater than that of Alexander the greats or Julius Caesars.

    Great video. Ayval Ayval

  • we shouldn't be satisfied by knowing all of these, we all should find a way, we all should get our aim united and do somthing for our country, I red in a book that darius said: don't look at great people to see what they've done, look how a poor guy does something unexpected.

  • Proud to be PERSIAN, God, IRAN

  • 300 was just more propaganda to demoralize Iranians and make them susceptible to cultural propaganda, the same the Britons used to drug Chinese down and conquer Hong Kong.

  • This is the usual commonly understood story of Persepolis. This was in fact the first United Nations under the mutual respects and fair trade and off course under the united umbrella of the mighty Persian empire as the granter of peace and stability.

The proof is in the building itself. No other monuments of that era could have the Hall of Nations and an Annual celebration (Nowrouz=new year=equinox) like that of General assembly to attend to all member problems.

  • I'm very interested in Persia and their great-kings. Thank you very much for uploading!

  • thank god iam persian..the persian history speaks fo itself :)

  • You should watch this. All 5 parts of it.

  • if you read your history fellow brother (parimda555) you would know that when Xeres reached athens, he burnt it to the ground..however the history between persians greek has always been good...their philosophers who were exiled came to persia and were welcomed! both sides embraced each others cltures

  • XD that is so not true! the greeks always hated the persians they had thair own reasons! and the philosophers of ancient greek never entered persia. you should read some books before you say somthing

  • He is referring to Sassanian times. When the last Greek philosophy school was closed by the Christians, the philosophers were granted sancuary in Persia; and when they wished to return to Greece the Shah interceded on their behalf to ensure their safety.

  • this is very sad for us as persian to watch how our beautiful kingdom and culture went down straight to hell by alexander the great then by arabs....now a days nothing has left of us.our dignity and pride is still runnig in our vains even after arabs concured us...god bless persia

  • Well done, great video! Thanks for charing it!

  • This video is fantastic! I loved it very much. Great job!

  • yea note 2500yrs ago

no mullas no mohamid no problem

    empires dont last

  • i just wanna thank you for uploading this video.

you knwo people someother people from other countries especially americans are disrespecting the history, but we don't care cause we know how great is our empire.

  • AMAZING!!!

  • Thank you for a magnificent work!

The only flaw that is a bit funny, is the cheap and purple attire of the king. His soldiers' golden clothes look more male, and impressive than his.

I am sure this is easy to improve on!

    A great work of art!

    Cheers

  • I really enjoyed the visual recreation of Persopolis. . However I did not like the 'nationalistic propaganda' hidden with, such as that exhibited towards Alexander the Great.

No one is sure why Persopolis burned. Though nothing as crude as the movie 300, there are important details missing. There were brutal aspect of the Persian Empire - but this is always the case for world powers. Regardless the Persian Empire is important to us as humans - and I appreciate the perspective.

  • alexander did burn persepolis, some say it was accident, but he (his army) did burn it.

  • Indeed, I read Herodot and some other old Greek historians and Persia wasn't always nice. It was like any other kingdom at that time. War, taking over, slavery or pay the taxes and submit to the king.

Maybe it's a wrong aspect, but interesting how scared the Greeks were from the despotic Persia.

  • yes, we can change, yes we should (and probably will) however realize also it is not really iran that is the problem, it's islam. And even then, i don't mind odd religions existing however it's the militant branches that need to be removed. hopefully we can remove just those radicals and let tolerance continue.

but it probably won't happen. it'll just turn into a great war. Oh well, jesus had a good idea, the west ran with it, and islam killed it. who knows what the next society will be?

  • you are the pheonix persia rise up upon the ashes of islam light the way and the west shall follow we wait 4 yr call

  • the west has made sure islam stayed in iran. They had all our idealists, reformists and bright ones executed or killed by CIA trained torture police SAVAK during the shahs rule, which was a puppet by USA/britain. Its the Persian people that have to stand up against the Arab theocracy, and kick their asses out of their motherland, and send them packing to the desert where they belong. The west will no allow Iran to return to its GREAT PERSIA status. It isnt profitable for them. They prefer arabs.

  • I wonder when Iran will finally stand up against their government?

  • Thank you! An incredible presentation of Persia's history!

As a journalist, attending an international meeting in Malayhsia, I met delightful Iranians, who invited me to Persia/Iran.

Alas, the senseless war snuffed out that tremendous opportunity.

TOLERANCE! A marvelous example for then, now & the future, shared by Persia! Only ignorance can deny the great accomplishments & examples set by this historic culture.

    Your enlightenment is appreciated!

    Blessings from California

  • i love learning about other cultures, especially ones my government deems evil, when in reality it is my own government who is also evil at this moment. Thank God there is always an ability to change

  • You have done wonderful work like other video

    Very interesting.

    You are great.

    Compliments

  • "Persians formed the largest empire the World has ever seen..."

that should sum it up and no one can change it...it's in our history 4ever"

  • It was the second largest empire, The Mongol Empire was nearly twice the size of ancient Persia at its height.

And by the way, ever heard of nationalistic propoganda?

  • The mongol Empire was larger but it never reached a fully prosperous and peaceful state like the Persians did, it was essentially a large number of conquered lands which seperated not long after the death of Genghis Khan.

While it's wrong to misinform, there is nothing wrong with nationalism (defined as taking pride in ones history, culture and heritage) The "propaganda" u talk about has to do with wrongful patriotism (defined as supporting a nation's government no matter what).

  • The philosophy of nationalism is propoganda. People should and have a duty to understand and be proud of their culture and the history of their heritage but to identify that with nationalism is a misunderstanding. Nationalism came about in 1659 as a means to maintain order amongst the population and to continue an ego for the masses that would benifit the state.

And youre correct that the mongol empire disintegrated nearly at the point of its furthest expansion, but so did Alexander's.

  • The film says "had ever seen" not "has ever seen." The Achaemenids came LONG before the Mongols.

  • Darius made a great empire by peace not by wars and colonizing and the proof is his respect for all nations and cultures that is shown on Persepolis's walls.. do you know how the mongols built their empire??

  • Are you serious?

  • lol, they wont

  • As this video says, Persian Empire was the first nation that was based on respect to all races, religions and thoughts. People were living together in peace in Persian Empire era by respecting each other. But now, after all, we are all fighting over stupid things... The lessons that we must learn from that era is not only the beauty of architecture in Persepolis stones but the beauty of human relationships and how respect could bring unity among people...

Thanks for the video, it's amazing!

  • iran so beatiful.this is nice video.

    thank you.

  • What the fuck are u guys talking about?

this video is about history of iran not who is arab who is not? who is muslim who is not?

and who are u talking about persian history? u all stupid guys

  • This is so fucking typpical.... The last to centuries we in the Middle East been arguing and blaming each other for variuos things sucj the different race, cultures, language and origin and all other stupid shit.... in the mean time The great ancient powers that for centuries were controlling vaste areas even huge parts of Europe were destroyed by the French and ther English. We should learn from that and cooperate against our corrupt governments, who dont give a shit about arabs or persians

  • u fuck off selfish u dont even know english go back and check ur fucking rude comment who dont give a shit or who give a shit hahahahaaaaaaa fuck u .....

  • iranarabi u are a joke, a arabian one

  • Well Iraniarabi I can guess that you are an Arab descent who is just living or used to live in Iran. Either your dad fucked a Persian woman or both your Arab parents fucked each other in Iran cuz there is no other way you could be both Iranian and Arab.

There is a relationship btw Persian's and Arabs (unfortunately, because of existence of idolaters who were forced to convert to Islam)

Also, it is as you say a "WELL-KNOWN fact to WHOLE WORLD" (who knows how to read and do research) that:

  • Context of Relations:Iran is a multi-ethnic and multi-language(mostly Persian)country. About 3 % of Iranians are ethnic Arabs&native speakers of Arabic(see Demography of Iran).Iranians are predominantly Shia Muslims(not all being proud of it)while Arabs(with the exception of Lebanon,Bahrain&Iraq),are predominantly Sunni Muslims.Arab Christians generally follow Eastern Orthodox Christian sects, while Iranian Christians follow non-Orthodox Christian sects.Does this make us Christians or Europeans?

  • Persian language??? what do you mean by that?? How many percent of your daily "persian" talk is persian?? It's FILLED with more than 95% Arabic. DIDN'T YOU KNOW THAT? all your verbs, adjectives, adverbs, etc are arabic.

Now, please my friend don't fool yourself with this "persian" comment, because it doesn't exist in the world any more.

LOOK @ YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR & GET THE FACT.

  • Took you one hour to think of something to write. If you weren't somewhat Iranian I would show you how diff. Arabic is from Persian. Also, I will remind you again Arabs fucked all we had, religion, culture, language, etc.& that's the only thing they can do. Don't you see how they fucked up the whole world & they are still doing it.I no how hard it is to be half something & half Iranian. You r a bit confused otherwise you wouldn't try so hard to prove that Persians r Arabs.Take it easy a bit.

  • im telling u fuck off arab u better go back to ur desert fucking TAZIIIIII

  • hey thing, ( you are not even human) go get the facts . Also comment on your own race not us or in that sense on humanity. Alos put it in your empty head that we are not arabs and will never be the same.

  • wow you;re stupid

grammatically (verbs, adjectives, adverbs you talk about) are in no way farsi

Of course there is a huge influence of arabic on farsi, but did you know that before it was called farsi it was called parsi, it changed to farsi because the arabs couldn't pronounce parsi so they called it farsi.

  • im telling u fuck off arab

u better go back to ur desert fucking TAZIII

  • Babaaak Your comments clearly expresses your level of non-excisting intelligence. Your need is just attention with no further thoughts.... Martikeye khol o chel boro vaghti ke aghl besaret omdad harf bezan

  • Yea fuck tazi arabs.

  • Cyrus has died long ago, and since then many things have changed. (DON'T GET ANGRY BUT REFER TO THE HISTORY)

Now tell me: Is the current persians the same as those of Cyrus era???

    The answer is "NO WAY".

Historical facts such as your arabic look, arabic alphabet, islamic religion, mosques, mollas, etc clearly show that iranians are ARAB descent.

This is a WELL-KNOWN fact to WHOLE WORLD, unless you fool only yourself inside you while the outside is something else (THE FACTS).

  • Because of your rude tune I chose to use the same tune so you would understand me better. Read my above comments.

  • I haven't made any rude comment, but only wrote a bit of fact, you can search in encyclopedia / wikipedia / or any other sources then see THE FACT FOR YOURSELF.

Why iranians genetically look like ARABs?

Have you ever thought of iranian classification in the world?

If you haven't so far, then ask people in the society you live in. Only then you may accept the fact, unless you are adamant which doesn't change the face of the fact.

    FACT IS FACT

  • excuse me iranarabi: yeah cyrus is die yeah?but still there is his civilisation and cultural look i dont wanna be rude to u and ur rilgion if is that all people one day will die but three is soethings which is it will stay in to all or us memoy is that hat person it was he ho mmany arabs like bitch they say some of iranian great persoan are arabs u r all steal and all country want to have our cilvilistion so u get out of this channel cus of ur jelous bitch that it

I wish God gave everything back to Persia that truthfully belonged to them. And that part that it said that the King didn't enforce their religion on his people touched me alot.
