I know, but recenlty I've heard someone say they don't want to use Virtual DJ because they don't want to beatmatch automatically. It really has nothing to do with beatmatching.
Thanks for the video. I use vdj with controllers. Your video shows some of the main differences between serato and vdj. I don't get why most people think vdj is for amateurs just because it has automatic beatmatching. I agree that if someone REALLY wants to learn djing, then they should learn beatmatching by ear. Just because vdj has auto beatmatching, that doesn't mean you have to use it. And it doesn't mean it's for amatuers neither. So people need to get over it, please.
@abh5396 every dj software have auto beatmatch, u can use the saved time to do bunch of amazing stuff such as cue point juggle, 4 deck mixing and blah blah blah...
well i just got vdj 7,i had vdj6, they seem to have matched serato scratching, idk if they truly have done it or not, all i know is that they give the dj the option of no master tempo to get an analog type of scratch instead of a digital scratch (analog being pure sound, digital just doesn't read some pitches of the music)
anyways im not bashing serato, all im saying is that the scratches sound better now,and ive tried serato before,i just didnt like the feel of it,so i switched 2 vdj completely

i use both, but i must say i like virtual dj the most, i use v7 with the numark mixdeck it works great but like u said about the scratch it is not as accurate as serato, but on those nights when im goin full out i bring out the ns7 with serato on the mac which it best mostly for latency and the mac nvr freezes but thats basically all u can do with scratch live is scratch, its more of like a brand thing like nike compared to a no name brand
@ few other people... Most people that dis Virtual DJ has never purchased it they bum a old bootleg copy and then try to compare it to Traktor or Serato. That's like comparing a 2001 Mercedes to a 2010 BMW (not realistic)
In a club setting SSL works a lot better. One night i used VDJ and/or Cue it gave me problems on both mac and pc.
As with SSL its easyer to config.
The clubs that i work in where im at the subs are just about under the DJ booth. so when the subs come in on VDJ u will hear that glitch sound. with SSL u (the DJ) can fix it in the setting.
I'm don't usually get around to responding to questions but @ OrenB217.... as you can see I'm not biased but I you want to scratch you're going to need a turntable with a strong motor. All turntables are not the same... I've used the Stanton 150 and some Numarks for mixing but for scratching I stick to the Technics (hands down)
im starting to get into scratching, but i dont wanna buy technics right away, so are geminis and stantons good? Also a friend of mine wants to sell me serato live, but its only the software not the vinyls or the interface it comes with, what else do i need in addition to the software? I got a denon mixer, no turntables yet (obviously) but what else do i need to start practicing scratching hiphop before i go to clubs?
That would be the way to go "for starters and its a lot lighter then the 1200's i have"
~note
If u don't have the start up money vdj is the best way to go for users just starting. SSL is more for scratching. The DJ does most of the work VDJ doesn't.
@OrenB217 The Serato Scratch Live software is free to download at their site. so if your friend is trying to rip you off if hes just trying to sell you the software without the interface and control records. As far as turntables go, just go with the technics because once you get good, you're just gunna have to upgrade to the technics anyway. Just look around on ebay or something to get them cheaper than $500 a piece.
@kells77 i use traktor pro.. and virtual dj. love traktor but it crashes and lags. virtual dj 7 is the shit, no probles ever, using controllers and a 1200. plenty of cool skins to download as well as effects it you buy it. People.. don't let haters get to you. virtual dj is solid and i would reccomend it to any dj.. just starting out.. or the seasoned pro.
run it in ABS absolute mode as opposed to REL relivent mode. Rel you get "away" wit alot more Absolute is 100X more sensitve! and you get a better "scratch"
hey can i hook up the idj3 up to serato ?

psythik. my mate runs it weekly in the club, its shit, very poor quality compaired to Serato or traktor,
if money is a issue, tracktor is on offer at the mo, another mate has just bought it for £150 !!!!!
the person i know with Virtual DJ is getting ridf of it and getting Serato. anyone serious about their music will NOT use Virtual DJ or a PC in a club
MAC & SERATO For the win everytime

Many people failed to mention VDJ offers more flexibility & capability when it comes to video mixing, with less cost.
I only use serato is it's only music gig with no video.

@kells77 Have you used VDJ 7? Probably not. They dramatically improved the sound quality in the newest version.
Of course, if you're trying to DJ on a Pentium, you're gonna have problems.
