the Cocteau Twins music my friend :-))

  • @shum65 I have for years and will continue to do so for years to come. Timeless.

  • @ditimely Thats so true, their music is timeless, and just gets

better as the years go bye :)

  • spill thingle fall.......quaint-by-numbers in places[and othere places]

  • @posypity Cheers my friend :)

  • This song and Hitherto and several others reminds me of my soph year in high school.... sigh..

bye so quickly, at least we have this heavenly music to listen to, bringing back

all those good times my friend, I echo your sigh.... :D

  • @shum65 The years have definitely flown by. I remember taping all their records so that I listen to them on my mini-boom box before I fell asleep. Oh how their music incorporated itself into my dreams.

  • @vaqardi I use to tape all my vinyl LPs and 12inches of theirs onto tapes,

and play them over and over,to save scratching or wearing the records..

I agree their music is so dreamy... :)

  • I too have this on vinyl and like Olivia I'm NEVER selling it!! Still superb after 27 years and one of the first tracks I play when people ask about Cocteau Twins.

  • @Dellboyflyer Thats so right my friend, never sell these classics on vinyl, this song

always stands out in my mind way back in the day, like all their music, it was so

different to anything else out back then or now, love-it :)

  • Hi DShum!, Sure, I do rate all your vids as a sheer vivid description of art! I do enjoy the others also.. however, when it comes to cocteau twins yours are heaps better. (as far as I´m concerned). "just speaking my mind"!

  • Amazing ,i have this on vinyl and i'm never selling it for anything!

  • @oliviaisgod Me to, your right, keep a good hold of all these treasures Olivia....!!! :)

  • This song is indescribably beautiful. When all around them were hurriedly racing towards the cash registers, the Cocteau's were sinking deeper and deeper into their own wonderfully artistic abyss.

  • @CONSIDERABLYMORE1 So true my friend, they sure put talent 2 the fore, and the cash just

didnt materialise as a reward until towards the latter end. but we reaped the benefits for sure-

with so much dreamy music to treasure....!!! :)

  • sure you´re a spangle maker! those vids you produce really rock! and they fit in perfectly with all Cocteau tracks!

So.....you´re the spangle maker yourself, Buddy!

Keep up the good work and keep sending along more new vids you upload, Shum!

this vid just makes me cm!!!!

You´re a psychedilic spangle maker yourself!

    GREAT VID SHUM!

    All the very best,

  • @salsollo Many thanks dear Sollo, thats a lovely compliment my friend..

Hope U're OK, so nice hearing from ya buddy...

    Take Care Sollo... ;))

    Dave..xxx

  • @shum65

    Ciao Bello!

    Dear Davey,

What truly amazes me about this track and all of my boyhood "Cocteau Twins" favorites, is that through this technology here on YT, I'm actually able to introduce this great music to people who were not even a speck in the consciousness of their parents, when this music was first released! And in so doing, I'm able to take their breath away! Just as mine was taken away from me as a boy, when I first heard it!

    Sinceramente!

    Il Suo Amico Per Sempre!

    Blaine

  • @blainebill39 Hi buddy,great hearing from you..hows things going?

I so agree about YT and the music of the Cocteau Twins being spread

far and wide across the globe..that can only be a good thing..!! :))

Like U say, introducing new generations to such genius..

Cheers dear Blaine, have a lovely weekend buddy.... :)

  • @SeanIsaacBillings @ 3:36 i start bawling

  • @SeanIsaacBillings Ha-ha...cheers.. :)

  • @SeanIsaacBillings I'm always bawling my eyes out m8...its good for the soul, ha-ha...!!

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!!! Have since it came out!!! So cool to be able to see/hear it again after all these years...

it takes me back to great days, have a lovely weekend my friend... :))

  • great video dave! the emotional power of their music still amazes me. this song and Wax and Wane were in heavy rotation for me back in 84, what a great year for music. have a great new year and enjoy everything to the limit! thanks VERY VERY VERY

  • @rme2121 Hi There Scott, your so right the CTs have amazing emotional power to their music,

I,ll be making a new video next week buddy, 84 was indeed a great musical year,

I hope all is well for you my friend, take care, and have a Happy New Year....!!!

Keep on enjoying the music buddy.......!!!! :)))

  • @TheCocteautwin1975 Hiya dear friend, its great to hear from ya...

Love your comments, perfectly said as always m8.......!!!

I loved doing the video to this classic track...as you said,

This Is Music....so very true...!!! :-))

  • Ohh, this is most favourite song for me too ! How beautiful and pleasant...beyond words. The explosion at the end always gives me a supreme bliss! Well... it's not by this mint chocolate...really. Thank you for uploading !

  • @rhapsodyblue56 Hi There, your so right my friend, the explosion

of sound towards its climax is amazing, it brings back many happy

memories indeed, I,m so pleased you enjoyed hearing it again to.

    great hearing from you rhapsodyblue56.....!!!

  • @shum65 Wanna listen this more loud... I remember the vinyl of this song was a bit low volumed, wasn't it ? I don't have a vinyl player now so can't make sure of it thou... BTW is that brick architecture with gable roof an infant school, or a quarry ? So lovely... And I love the trees you chose and filmed (also in the other vids), they are so beautiful. When you filmed even the grass by the wayside looks beautiful and dreamy. Exactly fit for Cocteau's sound.

  • @rhapsodyblue56 Wow, amazing comments my friend, I,ll need

to dig out my 12inch of this track to checkout its volume I can

vaguely recall it was quiet I,m sure, yeah that Infant school is

were I went long ago, theirs lots of memories their 4 sure.

Many thanks for your lovely comments on my videos, your very

kind indeed..always great to hear fromk ya dear friend.....!!!

  • @shum65 Does Infant school mean elementary school? How envy... You'd went such a lovely place everyday. Most of schools in my country are tasteless buildings like white boxes nowadays. I wish our builders learnt from great english architecture as 200 years ago.

It was rainy 'n chilly yesterday, I found this song suits a rainy day too.

  • @rhapsodyblue56 Hi There, Infant school is where we all went from aged 5-7 years old, It was a fab old building, with outside toilets, sadly its not used anymore as a school but a community centre, I think it closed as a school back in 1980.Hey its great hearing from you my friend, glad you enjoy our old buildings too, they have lots of character and history, your right this song does suit the rainy

weather, have a great Halloween weekend.....!!!!

  • @shum65 Thank you, I got it. It's fantastic that children spend their early days in such an old beautiful school. I think structures has a great influence on our life...

I enjoyed a Halloween. We went downtown there are full of baloons of jack o' lantern and ghosts like cotton candies, my son was happy to get baloons and toys. Then we met a little wizard, a grown-up pirate, and a batman accompanied by some bats. why batman...

How was your Halloween? Did the neighbors children come?

  • @rhapsodyblue56

I still have the vinyl , yes it is very low and you must play it LOUD!

Wonderful video @shum65, as all yours :)

    Heidica xxx

  • @12Heidica Ah, that's what I thought... I remember that I used to turn the stereo up everytime. All my vinyls are sleeping in the closet now. I miss the vinyl player my father bought for me, both of him and the player gone to heaven already.

  • @12Heidica Cheers my friend, I much appreciate your comments..

Wonder why this was so quiet on the vinyl, all the more reason to turn

it up nice and loud as you said... enjoy the rest of the week dear friend..

    Davey..xxx

  • This is simply one of my favourite songs of all time! Can anyone believe this was a b side? I have it on the 12" single of Pearly Dewdrops Drops and again on the CD box set of singles. It is simply sublime especially when it "explodes" at the end.

  • @keith904A Hi their, its hard to believe any Cocteaus songs could

be a b-side, I,ve still got my original 12inch vinyl, your so right about

the explosion of sound towards the end, Lizs vocals are classic....

and too is the heavenly music by the guys....a classic, cheers m8..!!!

  • One of my favorite Twins songs ever. Great great great job!

  • @chasingparkedcars Its a brilliant song, love how it slowly builds

and takes off into orbit...pure class, cheers my friend.......!!!

  • Your very kind my friend....I always appear

in my videos, thats my hand at the start,

holding the scissors, and throughout the

rest of the video....plus other scenes...

    sorta like Hitchcock....ha-ha..!!

  • Yeah, I do all my own videos here on my

channel, its been such an honour....

plus hearing from the band themselves.

    Many thanx my friend....!!!

  • Hi mate...I always remember filming this

video,it was such fun to do...

And what a song, your right its a treasure!!

    I like your plan...ha-ha..!!

  • best band ever

  • Cheers Retrogramme..Totally agree mate

    I like your style.....!!

  • "Spangle Maker" is like sex...the first poart is the build up, then when the tempo changes, that's the orgasm. Try it with someone you love.

  • Cheers eric..sounds like a cool idea mate

I,ll try anything, now,who could I ring up??

  • i believe the song lyrics are actually regarding orgasm if i heard correctly :) sneaky!

  • Hi nislive, its a great idea for a song thats

    for sure..my friend..ha-ha...!!

  • I've loved this song for so long, through so many changes in life and love. I still go crazy over the ending portion - from about 3:36 on - it gives me chills even after all these years. Another great video, dear friend.

  • Hi Bobby..your so right, this is such a top

song...I can still remember filming some

of the scenes outside my old infant school

it was a cool showery day, and I got lots of

    stares from people,wondering what the

hell I was doing walking around filming..

That ending is superb your right, it always

    gives me goosebumps too....

Thanx for your lovely words fella...!!!

  • every time i hear this song or any C.T. songs this kind of images come to my mind

  • Hi totoro...Thanks my friend, I,m pleased

you enjoyed my video to this classic track.

I really enjoyed doing the filming for it....

    Good to hear from ya.....!!!

  • No other band can match their unique talent.

  • Their,ll never be another,thats for sure..!!!

Just so original..and so damn good....

    Cheers tinkerkor....!!!

  • This song is amazing. My all time favorite.

  • Hi mate..its a brilliant song, I so agree...

    Great, great choice my friend....!!!

loved doing this video, still a fave of mine.

  • Is it Yorkshire stone? Halifax/Hebden/Clayton?

    Where are your videos filmed?

  • Hi mate, I film my videos around the small

village were I live called Billinge, its in the

North West of the UK, thats were all the

stone you can see, came from also, their

was a quarry here for hundreds of years,

until it closed down some 20 years ago.

    Cheers mate...

  • Not too far away...like the videos very... bontesque.

  • Cheers....Its been really brilliant filming

these videos, to such amazing music...!!

Simon Raymonde was really cool about

them as well, he,s a great bloke....

    Thanx for your comments mate....!!!

  • Amazing...I had completely forgotten about this tune and it used to be one of my favorite songs when it came out.....(Can anyone say SERIOUS 80's LSD??) Thanks for posting this. It just grabbed me by the heart...again.

  • Hi sdwolfcub...Awesome track ain't it..

You don't hear anything like this anymore.

Glad ya enjoyed it mate...hope it keeps on

    grabbing your heart my friend...!!

    Good to hear from ya..

  • I love this song.

It sounds so emotional and I think this is more powerful than 1/2 of the '80s ballads.

Partially because the poignance of the music comes through the combination of vocals and instrumentation to the point that it's not important that the lyrics aren't decipherable.

It's that very last detail which, while it may turn off people who like to have the lyrics spoon-fed to them, it helped make CT thought-provoking and critic-proof (no-one could say they had generic lyrics).

  • Hi Joseph, you speak words of wisdom..

I so agree with your thoughts my friend,

I,ve never wanted nor needed to know the

words to the Cocteau's world...its just as

you have said, The Cocteau Twins are so

Thought Provoking, your not spoon fed -

lyrics, your own mind and soul tells you

what you feel to their awesome sound....

    Excellent comments mate....!!!!

  • why does this vid only have 3000 or so hits? should be more like 3 mill, people have no taste, i guess.

  • Wow..now thats a huge compliment....!!!!

Much thanks my friend, your very kind...

I,m really pleased you liked this video, its

one of my faves too, and was so inspired

by this classic track by the Cocteau Twins.

I had a fantastic time doing this video,

Yeah, 3 million hits would be real cool....

A pleasure hearing from ya my friend...

  • verry niiice, shummy, a good holiday viddy ;)

really like the outdoorsy trippy shots and woozy liz pix--very evocative of those dreamy album covers & the dark filagree of this particular track itself...

  • Hi their desertshore!glad ya liked the trip!

Takes you back doesn't it,I enjoyed all those

wavy bits too,its always something I have in

mind with the Cocteau's, as ya say-dreamy!!

    Thanks mate!!

  • One of my favorites! I always loved how the drums really kick in toward the end of the song. Shum, did you see the award the Cocteau'x recently got? They truly deserve it after all this time. It was so good to see all 3 of them on stage together again!!! Just type in "Q Awards cocteau twins" here at youtube to watch it. It's their 1st award, finally some recognition for the best band EVER!!!!!!

  • The last fourth or so of the song is indeed magnificent - everything kicks in triumphantly - the music, the vocals, the harmony - superb.

  • Cheers dear bobbs, that's the thing I love about

this track, how it all slowly builds to its

    awesome conclusion!!

    The drums,the voice,the guitars,its all so

    dark,and powerful,as ya say-Superb!!

  • Cheers Fuzzi,Top ending your right!!

Yeah my friend,I did see them finally getting

their first (unbelievable!)award! Ive even -

included the clip in a couple of my videos.

An absolute disgrace they havent ever won some

    top awards over the years!!

I just took it for-granted they had!!

    Thanks mate,for your comments!!

  • 999 things are going on in here, at last count. Once again, shum buddy, you have me very intrigued. Specially those sharp pointy and/or thrashing objects, like what looks like a stiletto you brandish in the beginning and at subsequent moments, the scissors you slice in time, the barbed wire fencing, maybe even the wipers slicing across the windshield. What's it all about? Oh, the brief shot of the stained-glass window, suddenly pixilated, is stunning, too! But I need answers, mystery man!

  • Hi bobbs, your so right,I tried to fit in as much as possible,The scissors are brandished a lot in the video, sometimes cutting, then I,m holding them shut.like a weapon almost!! Their windscreen wipers (We,ve had lots of - rain all week!) then my old infant school, with the stone wall around,The iron fencing is at a local petrol station, called their on Monday! The wire fencing is at the local farm over the road. As to its meaning, well what ever you want it to really,Symbolism,I guess?
