You just got out of high school. How would you know what is discussed regarding complaints? My methods do work. Bullying in school, the workplace or at home. It is all the same. By writing in, you do your cause no harm at all. It also makes you feel better.

I do know about US law. If someone bullies you, and you fight back physically and injure them, the bully will lay a complaint against you. It is then your word against his, and he will win, as he made the complaint. That is how it works.

The Japanese man explained he was Kyoshi. He explained that any strike by a karate practitioner would involve a serious charge. I'm almost glad that I graduated before Myspace really took off... but I do remember there was a forum divided up by school when I was a senior & teens would post horrible things about others. I think the site got shut down because of complaints. I wish to some extent that it was possible to ban teenagers under 18 from having a "social network" page. Bullying needs to stop! Too many are comitting suicide because of it and it doesn't seem to be taken seriously. Words can cut deeper than a knife.

@doda I was a victim too but was fortunate I went to school in the days before Facebook, Myspace, texting, etc. back in the 90s. Even if I was being picked on at school, at least I had peace when I came home. Today's kids don't have that luxury and all parents should be concerned because Phoebe could have been their child. You just got out of high school. How would you know what is discussed regarding complaints? My methods do work. Bullying in school, the workplace or at home. It is all the same. By writing in, you do your cause no harm at all. It also makes you feel better.

@Matttheweatherman13 I have stopped plenty of fights like that. I live in New Zealand. It is much the same as the US. I have lived in the US also. I have intervened there also. I would never strike anyone. I have been in fighting competitions myself.
I do know about US law. If someone bullies you, and you fight back physically and injure them, the bully will lay a complaint against you. It is then your word against his, and he will win, as he made the complaint. That is how it works.

I can tell you that guys like Andy Hug are not pussies. They would never fight against bullies. They like me know that the bully will probably win anyway. Andy always said that in a conflict situation, say sorry, agree with the person, anything to avoid conflict. That is the Karate way.
Conflict should be managed by schools which exclude the bullies.

@Matttheweatherman13 All senior karate people will tell you the same. I once helped out a Japanese man who ws being attacked. He was being beaten. I told the young men to go away. They did. The Japanese man explained he was Kyoshi. He explained that any strike by a karate practitioner would involve a serious charge. Having experience, in dojo training, you are easily able to take punishment.
Fighting is a life and death matter. Only ever use it if you think you will die otherwise.

Chopping off womens' heads may be OK in ancient China, but not in modern day America. Self defense is OK. It means the ability to avoid blows. An actual striking blow, which includes a block is an assault.

Why is everyone on Phoebe Princes side? She was already cutting herself and on Prozac before she ever came to America. Guess what happened to her in Irish schools? @botchalism in fairness this degree of bullying doesn't happen in Irish schools, and I'd know cos I spent 14 years going through the Irish education system. Phoebe would certainly not have been prepared for the level of bullying that goes on in US schools.
