There are a lot of problems with this design. First of all the angle of the cockpit window would create impossible optical diffraction when underwater. Second, it has a combustion engine, which requires an air intake that obviously can't operate underwater. So to even claim this thing "flies" underwater is utter BS.
There aren't any problems!!! It's NOT B.S!!! I work at the place that builds these in nor-cal......AND it's not a combustion engine....It's ROTARY..engineers with 20yrs experience have designed these...
I guess I didn't mean "problems" per se, in that I'm sure the thing works as a souped-up jet ski. I was referring mainly to its claim to fly under water, which is clearly false. An atkins rotary marine engine is still a combustion engine, in that it uses a hydrocarbon fuel and requires oxygen.
You are right gibbo. I can do just as much with my old standup jet ski as you can with the "Bionic dolphin" I saw this thing back when it was still in the project stage. If they had gone more towards a submersible design it would have been alot better. The thing is so positively bouyant that it can barely submerge at full throttle. LAME.
