You know those sample sizes from EDM that come in those 5g jars but has 1g of product? Well, I used less than that amount, about 3/4 of it and it filled the whole bottom of the pan. If you can spread it out to fill up the bottom of the pan then it's fine. For me, the matte colors held up better than the shimmery ones. HTH =)
hey girlly. i got my palette today! i ordered it from starsmakeuphaven. just wondering.. about how much eyeshadow fits in the pan? cause i wanted to press my pure luxe eyeshadows but i dont think theres enough product in the sample size...let me know! xoxo
Thanks for showing this. I planned on getting their empty pans, also for my Bare Minerals loose shadows, but I think I want to get the MAC palette since it's magnetic and there's no foam. I was worried the CS pans wouldn't fit in the MAC palette, so now I'm happy!
Thanks to your vid I tried pressing myself. With a few drops of a binder, since I wanted to "press" sheen ones, and in the jars (I love the sample jars)
But I'm not total happy with the result. I used the binder of CS but I fear I used too much - the eye shadow did dry rather fast but it feels kind fo creamy and it's not blending as good as the loose one anymore. (It looks so little when pressed :p)
Aww that sucks. So far the alcohol method for me works best with any matte powders or sheen blushes. The shimmer and pearl eyeshadows hold together loosely no matter how much alcohol I used. With the non-shimmer powders I can rub my brush on there pretty hard and it doesn't get powdery where you have to blow on it. I love pressing my concealers but some people say it's bad for your face which I don't think so cuz the alcohol completely evaporates. 91% is best I think =)
I've been combing the internet for empty pans that fit MAC blush palettes, but haven't found any so far. Do you find that the eyeshadow-sized blushes you pressed are big enough?
Oh, and I watched EnKore's video for mineralized pressings-- you kind of need something different from alcohol if you want minerals to stick together better. But yours look good with just alcohol!
Makeupsquare also has a video for making your own, albeit flimsy, pans out of aluminum foil : )
u pressed mineral eyeshadow WITH ALCOHAL? how do u do that?? i tried pressing my bare escentual mineral eyeshdaow n it became loose right when i dip my brush in..lol
Yes I used 90% isopropyl alcohol. I did two Bare Minerals eyeshadows and I did notice that they held up very loosely, even if I used the same method with my Everyday Minerals eyeshadows, which seem to hold up much better than the BM ones.
It took me a while to get good at pressing eyeshadows. My coastal scents 24 palette came with one shadow broken but I was able to press it back. I would recommend a little more alcohol. It takes a little longer to dry but the eyeshadow comes out better. Great video =)
OMG thanks for doing this vid! I saw the pics on cs but of course they barely tell us anything!can you update when you get the magnetic sheets? thanks!
I love pressing pigments ..its so fun haha..mac pigments are a lot easier to press huh? ..i tried pressing some of my beauty from the earth minerals and didnt turn out so hot :( ..hehe great review!
I'm sorry I didn't put it in there exactly. I just used 90% Rubbing Alcohol (Isopropyl Alcohol), a sample jar to mix the shadow in, some bent up bobby pins to mix it, an eyedropper to drop in the alcohol, a sterilized quarter wrapped in a T-shirt to press it and that's it! HTH =)
Hey there, great video! Do the pans come with it or do you have to buy them seperatly because it doesn't say anything about it on the website

I just got the idea to press the EDM e/s I only use as liner with this method *laughs* since those don't need to blend. ^^

The eyeshadow sized pans are too small for the blush palettes....And the eyeshadows I pressed with alcohol are holding up really well.

Thanks for doing this review:)..im going to order one

I LOVE your music selection!
I always look forward watching your video because of the music you pick =+
freshxsoul 3 years ago
Thanks! I'll usually play somethings Old School or a B-Side R&B track. Rarely do I select something new because they get old quicker! =)
Lostris143 3 years ago
I agree. None of the new joints can't compare to the Old School ones.
Thanks for posting this video ! (I got completely thrown off by your music, I didn't thank you for the information you posted .. =) )

Thanks, girl! Yes, the cover is as hard and sturdy as the MAC palette. The foam is a kind of hard foam and it's glued down. Small but cute! HTH :)

I had my eyes on that palette since I first saw it on their website. So after watching your video I want it even more :)
