the claim that Hay list is a better horse than rocket man is unproven, I don't think Hay list is better than - Choisir, Fastnet Rock, Alinghi, Takeover Target, Miss Andretti -, but Rocket Man definitively have proven himself in the world class race. No doubt, Black Caviar is the greatest sprinter among them, but don't forget that whenever she raced, there is a few horses on the field only, and she was never challenged by the oversea horses.

I don't think fan's that follow the world's premiere sprinters are ever going to be happy until we get to see a Black Caviar vs. Rocket Man showdown!! Nearly all of the racing fan's in Australia contend that Rocket Man has no chance of beating Black Caviar? That may well be true? But Rocket Man is without question one of the world's premier G1 sprinters that's never finished worse than 2nd in his career. So if he can't run with Black Caviar? @isnanfitri You can't be serious. This horse has never lost, never been close to losing. Runs times and carries weights that have never been done before. RM has lost consistently lost the big races, and he has never faced one close to as good as BC. I seem confident because I am and so are people who know about how the horses are rated and the formlines that align the 2 horses. They haven't met yet but RM will have to improve significantly just to make it an interesting clash.

Rocket Man's the won that I want to see Black Caviar take on. Black Caviar is an amazing mare, that's still unbeaten in her career as a sprinter. But in fairness, she's yet to ever step outside her comfort zone of Australia. Rocket Man has sprinted all over the world, against the world's best, and never finished worse than 2nd in his career. All horses can have off days, and maybe Better Than Ever did have such a day at Meydan, but that does nothing to discredit BC. Personally I cannot wait for the day she races internationally, she will rock your world.

I think the Tapeta surface at Meydan can now be accurately described as heavy and slow. Trainer Bob Baffert described the surface, and this was before the racing began, as being "gooey". I think the times out of Meydan are useful for comparison to races on grass. Finally please stop using Timeform ratings as though they are some work of science; for 2010 the American horse Quality Road is rated higher than Zenyatta and Blame, problem was QR couldn't beat Z and B in live races.

@RSyaiful PS Did Silent Witness win outside of Asia? Pretty sure Starspangledbanner beat JJ as well and try telling any Australian racing student that he is within a bulls roar of BC! Ortensia was beaten less than 2l by JJ/rocket man in the Kris Flyer in December. BC smashed her by 7 lengths eased up 3 starts ago. Grasping at straws citing her lack of travel as reason to maintain that isn't yet the worlds best.

@schardy80 I think you're missing the point here. I'm not saying that BC ain't world class horse. She's a real gem. Beating the likes of HL and Ortensia with ease. But the fact that she don't travel makes it hard for comparison. Even the highest rated horse in the world falls short when travel. I'm just saying that she's a one hell of a gem but only in Australia. Nothing more than that. I do hope though that the RM camp plans later in the year for RM and BC to go against each other in Australia.

@RSyaiful We used to get that all the time: Aussie horses wouldn't beat the refined throughbreds of Europe and the UK. That is until it became easier for our horses to travel and quaranteine regs were relaxed. Choisir, who was never thought of as a great sprinter here, won the King Stand and Golden Jubilee in the same week. Even Starspangledbanner, UK sprinter of the year, is never mentioned in the same breath as Vain and Manikato. But now we have one that is.

@schardy80 We can argue all the facts about BC and RM. But the real fact is that, it takes just the place, surface and conditions of raceday to justify. Forgive me my friend but as of now, for me, BC has yet to establish herself internationally just as RM need to justify himself outside of Asia.

@RSyaiful We breed great sprinters: Singapore champions, Rocket Man, Better Than Ever; Hong Kong greats Silent Witness, Sacred Kingdom and the brilliant Green Birdie; Fravashi and Joy and Fun, 1st and second in the Al Quoz last year, Japanese champion sprinter, Kinshasa no Kisekim and Sprinters Stakes winner Ultra Fantasy were all bred here. Every winner of the Hong Kong Sprint except last year was won by an aussie bred.

He ran the 1200m in 1:11.28. Which is fairly slow even on the Tapeta and well outside Big Jag's race record. He'd have to go a lot quicker than that to worry the Black Flash ;)) Good to see such good performances from the Australian contingent.

Another great result for Aussie bred sprinters. The winner and fourth placed, Green Birdie, which loomed up in the straight, was bred in NZ is from Aussie bred, Golden Slipper winner Cat Bird. Second and third placed in the Al Quoz were also Aussie bred.

@schardy80 Hay List won the Challenge in 56.89s by lng hd, 3/4 lens on a Dead 5 track. That is pretty fast time for Warwick Farm (Course record 56.25, by good sprinter Impaler). It was expected that the track would be slow, but no rain fell on it, so it got to dry out a bit. Hard to see him troubling the great mare, particualrly at WFA.
