  • is there any fuzz has germenuim and silicon both?

  • @normalsigara Yes! Sybil fuzz.

  • @EXcorporation696 billy cox wrote it man

  • why nobody has said about him playing jeff beck here!?!?!? led boots!!!

  • @stratmaniac Jeff Beck Rules!

  • the 2nd is better than the 1st the 2nd is warmer i think

  • @dumadave10 different transistors...different sounds

  • @Nimrod9458 true

  • FUCK YEAH QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE @2:42

  • Andy, does this fuzz have annoying oscillation when a wah is placed before it? I can't decide whether to buy this MJM London II or the MXR Classic 108 fuzz.

  • @The1970sInfatuate - That is entirely dependent on the wah. The fuzz pedal doesn't have anything to do with it. Many newer wahs have what's called "fuzz friendly circuitry"...google the Foxrox Wah Retrofit for more info. Hope that helps. Thanks!

  • @ProGuitarShopDemos Okay, well my particular wah pedal is a Vox V847.

  • This MJM fuzz definitely sounds the best to me out of all the other MJM fuzz boxes.

  • can it run on batterys ?

  • hey pgs, i love the fuzz pedals, reviews have been really helpful!

what mjm fuzz pedal would you recommend to run in front of a slightly distorted amp?

    cheers

    joe

  • @whenmonsterswalk IMO, any fuzz pedal sounds best in front of something slightly distorted or overdriven :p

For vintage tones, check out the london fuzz or the london fuzz II. I bought the germanium one, liked it so much that I decided to try the other one too xD they're both still a bit different in sound as you'll hear. Second, the silicon fuzz II is a bit easier in use, since it doesnt require a seperate power source, is less temperature dependant. the II's got more high end, not in a bad way

  • Hey just got this pedal!

Any tips of adjusting the little internal bias control?

It sounds GREAT btw but im always open to tonal variety

  • wooot im getting this one friday <3

  • volume pedal?

  • I didn't know a silicon Fuzz could sound that GREAT through a Fender amp.. fuzzes into Fenders tend to sound like a bee in a can sometimes.

  • That's true sometimes! The secret is keeping that tone knob on your guitar back.

  • @Renhjarta yeah, gilmour's sound on Time is awful... :P

  • Them Changes and a little Jeff Beck - Led Boots...I Love it!!! Both LF's are a must have if you ask me!

  • I love this fuzz! When using humbuckers, I prefer it to the germanium, red London Fuzz.

  • who else prefers the original?

  • You mean the germanium one?

  • Yeh boi!

  • i think i do too

  • idk, i like them both.. i think it will depend on what gear you are using which one sounds the best

  • i think either of the two london fuzz'es will get you closer to hendrix than the dunlop jimi hendrix face..

  • @bloodgulge the germanium is closer imo, i find the silicon, although more reliable, doesn't have the same dark sound.

  • What Fuzz Is Best For Cream/Hendrix Tones..and what about The White Stripes distortion?

  • I think the MJM Foxey Fuzz is better for White Stripes sounding stuff, and that the Red London Fuzz is better for that early Hendrix sounds. Think the "Are You Experienced" album with that pedal. I'm getting both. :)

  • i do agree , fuzz pedals and fender amps are not friends, i have a BOYC fuzz , and plugged it to a Twin reverb ...not a good idea !!! i am able to get a good crunch as a booster but the fuzz that is coming out is way too trebly , but i also noticed that if you hook cab the fender to a 4x12 speaker cab , it will overdrive fuzz more .

  • i like how it says 'amp/axe' haha

yet again, loving the QOTSA riff

  • i heard tension head by queens of the stone age :D

  • nails the tone doesn't it :O

    long live QotSA

  • is the deluxe reverb reissue a tube amp please? and what exactly is a tube amp, what's the difference between it and a normal amp? many thanks

  • Yes, it's a tube amp.

The difference is that there are vacuum tubes in the preamp and amp circuitry. This is older technology (versus solid state), but provides for far superior tone. Everybody who's anybody plays a tube amp (and anybody who has good tone). Any good or famous amp is a tube amp (with the exception of the JC-120). However, tube amps are usually 4 to 5 times the cost of "comparable" solid state amps. But it is well worth the money.

  • who is the fucker who i always see holding up the solid state marshall on the card board cutouts?

the answer? Who cares, he plays a solid state

  • google it. It's too much to explain in a youtube comment.

  • Awesome. I want one really badly.

  • hell yesss man play some jimi for me baby

  • Who would´nt want a little more splat in their lives?

  • JEFF BECK!!! Led Boots!!! Awesome

  • great demo as always, but whats happened to showing the clean tone before switching on the pedal to give a comparison?

    sounds pretty damn good though!

  • 'splattier.'

  • i have one of these new london fuzzes from mjm, and they sound awesome, very thick and harmonically rich, and they sound best through a tube amp right on the brink of overdrive, sweet stuff

  • well, EVERYTHING sounds better through a tube amp

  • hey hey! of course dude!

  • could you have a little box telling us which riffs you're playing in these videos, because its really annoying me.

  • That's what I was thinking too. But then I realized that it's part of the charm of these videos. It's fun to try and name the riffs. Plus most of the time people leave comments saying what they are anyway.

  • the "axe" verbage is so funny

  • Only to those who don't talk guitars.

  • JEFF BECK!!! LED BOOTS!!!

  • This is the first fuzz pedal I've heard that I actually like!! Awesome review!

  • queens of the stone age!

  • the big muff owns this though.

  • i disagree. big muff is FAR too distorted-its a distortion pedal! this one really emulates the fuzz of the 60's. i'll admit though, i use a russian big muff reissue for fuzz :/

  • your right

  • this fuzz sounds real hendrix its awsome

  • at the risk of asking a stupid question, what's the first song?

  • "Changes" by Jimi and the Band of Gypsys

  • its changes by the band of gypsys (jimi hendrix)

  • Them Changes

  • that's a great sounding fuzz.

  • i got the London(germanium) gonna get the London II just because, the mjm fuzzface clones not only covers alot of hendrix tones but in the right amp-guitar-pickups,.....his fuzz pedals are truly great.make your guitar feel more alive than any overdrive pedal.with a strat or tele, woah!!!!!

  • Ah...the fuzzier the better...

  • I like this, is this using similar parts to what Hendrix used? Would anyone recommend this for Hendrix? Thanks.

  • def sounds like hendrix stuff

put with a neck strat pick up and a good ole marshall and its there

  • The first thing hes play's is jimi.

  • For Hendrix (RIP) i would recommend the Jimi Hendrix Dunlop Fuzz Face pedal. Its has the exact same specs as the one he used.

  • But made differently, in a more modernized way. . . If you listen to this, than the Hendrix, this sounds much more like Silicon-era Hendrix. The Hendrix pedal is much looser and brighter. . . It still sounds pretty damn cool, but this one sounds more like Hendrix

  • i don't have one so i can't say for sure but it sounds like it would be great!

  • Get either the Dunlop Fuzz Face (If you can find an original Arbiter Fuzz Face, you'll be real lucky, 'cause that's what he used), or get the MXR Classic 108 Silicon Fuzz (It's pretty much the same as the Fuzz Face, but in a pedalboard-friendly box, with a buffer switch to limit oscillation). But I honestly think any silicon fuzz pedal will do, especially something with a BC-108 transistor.

  • This is an exact replica of a late 60's early 70's fuzz with silicon transistors. This, a Strat, and a Marshall, and you'll be wailing out Spanish Castles Magic all day. Be warned though, although they sound decent on recordings such as this, silicon fuzzes normally don't cooperate with Fender tube amps very well.

  • he is using a fender deluxe reverb, it sounds fine here

  • WOOOTT CHANGES!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is a great fuzz, I love smooth fuzz pedals. I have a question for you, I hope you can answer. How come on your channel, on the standard and little big muff, it sounds so grainy, but on say, GearManDude's demo of the muffs, they sound so smooth? Is it the mic, the amp, the settings, the axe? What is a good way to get a smooth sound from a fuzz- especially a muff.

  • Yeah, it's the mic. It's a cheaper mic into a cheaper audio system, causing MASS compression. But, Muff's sound good into non-Fender amps (like nearly every fuzz). Germanium fuzz pedals are creamy on their own, but to get a creamy Big Muff tone with, say, a Marshall, just twiddle the tone knob until it sounds good to you

  • try a russian big muff into a vox ac30. it sounds so creamy you'd want to pour in into your morning coffee

  • Jeff Beck, woot! MJM and Analogman are putting out the best fuzzfaces on the planet right now, great stuff.

  • Only company that puts out more fuzz is Devi Ever..

  • are there fuzzes good i have never heard one but i always see them

  • Its like distortion, but fuzzier, :D

  • Geeze these guys put out fuzz pedals left and right

  • Oh and: First!

  • Yeah. I think there's too many fuzz pedals. They all do the same thing.

  • I dont think so. To consider that every fuzz pedal out there is the same is being kinda superficial.
