    Regards

    Deepak

  • Thanks for your feedback, Deepak :)

  • Dear Sir,

    I have a question.

In this video, at 1:38, u say the pattern is the chords based on the 1st, 4th and 5th note of the scale.

In the other video (lesson 2 part 1) at 7:22, u say these notes are 1st, 5th and 7th notes of the scale.

Could you please shed some light?

  • the first one uses a diatonic or standard major scale, and the chords are based 1,4,5 notes. Eg if u r playing in C major, the chords will be C, F and G, which are the 1st, 4th and 5th notes in the C scale. If u r playing in mixlydian mode which was covered in the 2nd lesson, the notes change to C D E F G A Bb, and the 3 chord trick changes to C, F and Bb, which are the 1st, 4th and 7th notes of that scale ...

  • u call that lesson useful?

    u must be kiddin' me..

    the word is awesome!!

    God bless you!

    Regards

    Abhishek

  • thanks abai :)

    pawan

  • u mean selflessness?

  • sir,

u've done a tremendous job for all da guitar fans out here to learn guitar...(useless reiterating dis point)

however i fail to understand wat benefits u stand to gain by posting dese lessons monetary or otherwise and dis stupefies me the most. i think dis is wat is called selflessness.

    rgds,

    ritwik

  • thanks for your sweet note, ritwik :)

i started this as an experiment, but never had an inkling it will be so popular ...

i do play music professionally, but this is still more of a passion, and not my source of sustenance.

i do have plans to take this to a commercial level, but i won't desert my youtube viewers ....

    stay tuned ...

    pawan

  • Hi Pawan, your great knowledge in guitar has convinced me to sign in and subscribe. I did have a question. In this video you played each note of the song. This is exactly what I am after rather than playing a whole song in chords. Are you able to help me in the right direction where I can learn to play each note rather than just chords. I think playing note sounds better than just chords. Thank you once again.

  • thanks, my friend :)

spanish guitar is not ideal for playing the melody itself - if that's ur interest, u shud probably switch to keyboard ...

  • Thanks Pawan.. I have become a BIG fan of yours. Thanks for sharing your priceless knowledge through such simple and effective lessons... I will go through all your lessons and wait eagerly for your future posts. Pls keep posting and God bless you!!

  • thanks, amod :)

I thank you from the bottom of my heart .. :)

You are the first one who has posted these valuable lessons, and these are helping me a lot in picking up the chords for songs myself rather than relying on the internet videos.

    Many thanks sir.

  • Sir,

Please tell me the price in indian currency. And where will i get it in Mumbai.

  • Very sound advice on chords and melodies. Keep up the good work.

  • thanks, man :)

  • Comment removed

  • thanks kapil - did not understand your question, what is your problem ?

  • Great work, sir! Your playing skills, theoretical knowledge and teaching style really rock!

  • thanks, my friend :)

  • awesomeeeeeee... u rock..\m/

  • thanks manmeet :)

  • That lesson was really useful Pawan, u teach really well.

Btw, any tips on how to develop the ear to recognise the key that a song is in?

  • good question, and tough to answer, chintan :)

if u have a good ear for music, and keep practising more and more songs, it will develop over time - as it did for me - i will try to cover this later in my series and show some tips to find out the key - but it won't be easy !!

  • Boss, excellent lesson .... no doubt you have a good command over music theory and teaching , a rare teacher

  • thanks, aryan :)

  • one more thing.. Can u relate this with a few more examples.. and also using the circle of fifths.. I would also like to know how to remember the notes of the scale on head.. Is there an easy way there ? Last ( but not least :) ) also tell us in wat situations wud one play G in pos 1 and C in pos 2. . the 1,4,5 prog is true however .. 4 and 5 Maj can be played on pos 2 as well.. Is it only wat mood u want to create.. ??

  • very good questions - rt now i am trying to keep my lessons very simple so it benefits beginners as well - don't wanna get into circle of fifths yet :)

positioning truly depends on the note - for instance, theoretically, if the note is B and you are playing in the scale of G, and you want to play G Major chord, you should be playing the first inversion which is B-D-G - now that's convenient on keyboard, but difficult to perfect on guitar ...

  • excellent job.. i could benefit more as i have been readiing quite a lot of theory aruond this.. Thanks again.. :)

  • thanks for your feedback, friend :)

  • THATS WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR..SINCE A LONG TIME..i also use this method..god ..and now make it better......PAWAN DA .THANKS...

  • thanks, my friend :)

  • Great Lesson !!!!!

  • thanx!
