How fucking stupid can you be to vote for MCCAIN/PALIN? They're the biggest fucking joke ever! McCain fought for our country, and that REAAALY Qualifies him for office! Yeah, and get the fuck out of that excuse because John Kerry was also a war hero, yeah, hmmm, can't do that.

Ok.... You mean the regulations that FDR put in, that kept a recession from happening, the ones that Reagen removed? The Ones that kept people from making ridiculous amounts of money, the ones that kept people for living beyond their means? I wonder what they talk about when they say "The economy is Strong" when they only look at certain things, wake up people! Moving money around "Rich Investing" Does not create wealth!

Since Bernanke is a monetarist as well, printing money, pimping easy credit, and causing inflation so the gubmint can more easily afford to pay the debts it has accrued living beyond its means, and Obama is deficit spending, and encouraging Americans to consume what they cannot afford, what's Changed® exactly?

MacGhil: No one has the time or patience to read your long-winded manifesto. Why don't you try getting off the internet every once in a while and do something positive to help the situation instead of just replying to every friggin' comment someone makes? The other choice was McCain who did even know there was an economic crisis at hand. Give Obama a chance. you're condemning him before his plan has even had a chance to work.

Your answer to the current condition is to start two more wars? Bombing Iran would lead to the deaths of hundreds, if not thousands of American troops stationed in the middle east. Have you forgotten that Iran and Iraq share a border?
The same thing would happen in Korea. Japan and South Korea (our allies) would be opened to attack and steam rolled. China and Russia may even back N Korea.
Congrats, you would have just started WWIII. Except this time both sides would have nukes.

Mr President, how much do you love your wife and kids? I am sure very much. As you love your family we also do. Do you know what your heroes are doing in Afghanistan? They are killing innocent children and women. How would you feel if one of those were your beloved daughter, maybe wife or friend? On behalf of those helpless people I would like to make this comment and ask you please stop killing innocent Afghans. You will never bring democracy to the country by killing those people.

Hamid, you convince AlQaeda to stop attacking civilians around the world, and we will convince our President to pull troops out of Afghanistan. Our Heroes don't strap a bomb to their chest and walk into a crowded market place, but they will provide aide to the wounded after the "martyr" is done. Civilians caught in the crossfire have been killed, or property damaged, but it was never our intent to cause that harm. Yet as the dust settles, our heroes will be there to help you rebuild. Will yours?

The only reason those people blow up themselves is because they do not have aircraft, tanks, artilleries, helicopters, battleships, missiles, or godknowswhatevers. Their families are killed, their natural resources ripped off, homes destroyed, and country torn apart. They are willing to sacrifice their own lives because that is all they have left. 9/11 killed 3000 people, but the death toll for US invasions in Iraq and Afghanistan is close to a million. That should tell you something.

Ok, now what percentage of those million were armed insurgents? From whats left, how many were actually killed by a US soldier, be it from a rifle or from 30.000 feet?
I served in Iraq for 18 months. I won't tell you that in all that time a US soldier didn't kill an Iraqi civilian by mistake. It was war, it happens. What i will tell you is the total number of insurgents and civilians killed by US forces in that time was trivial compared to the number of civilians killed by their own people.

The Wall Street bailout was never about stabilizing the economy, much less fixing it. It was simply a means of insulating the banks from the consequences of their actions and the consequences that their actions have had on the economy.
Years before the current crisis became evident, it was apparent that Washington runs for the benefit of the bankers, not the electorate. Which is why, as more and more economists are coming to realize, it simply isn't going to work.

If the banks had gone bankrupt, they would have gone into receivership and have been sold to new owners with new management anyway.
What's the difference?
With Republicans in charge of all three branches of government and with a Republican-appointed chairman of the Federal Reserve . . . the system collapsed. The banks failed.
Now, thank God, the cavalry has arrived to clean up the mess and get the whole system back on track.

1) Many banks are now insolvent.
"...many major US banks are now legitimately insolvent. This insolvency can no longer be viewed as an artifact of bank assets being marked to artificially depressed prices coming out of an illiquid market. It means that bank assets are being fairly priced at valuations that sum to less than bank liabilities."

2) Supporting markets in toxic assets has no purpose other than transfering money from taxpayers to banks.

3) We're making it worse.
