  • does he say anything other than ' hail to the king baby' in this port?

  • The Saturn Version doesn't even use the BUILD engine! It uses the same engine that made Powerslave. The funny thing is, Powerslave was on the BUILD engine when it was ported to PC. Whoever ported this, did a good job at remaking the levels.

  • @MrGerolf Powerslave FTW!!!!!!!!!! My first Saturn game

  • @jackrabbitslim26 Yeah Powerslave was awesome, I've only played the PSX and PC versions, but I plan to get a Saturn soon so I'll try it out there too.

  • What a piece of shit port.

  • the toilets dont have any doors ! What kind of privacy is that ?

  • Looks very good. I like the screen tilting effect very much.

  • i have been hearing that in this one he actually says motherfucker and they don'tt censor it. is this true?

  • @zackfowler19601: Nope, he doesn't even say that phrase atall in the Saturn version, because there's no episode 4, The Birth, so there's no Pigsty mission, where he says the line, and therefore there's no line.

  • @PencilPusher93 thank you for the clarification, my friend. i'm a huge duke fan and cannot wait till duke nukem forever hits the shelves thanks to gearbox. :)

  • this looks sooo much cooler than the ps 1 version. And 64 version

  • This game was best on the PC

  • Damn they should add "walk movements" in eduke 32 (walk movements = camera tilting as in quake)

  • These Guys totally Fucked Up Quake and Duke Nukem 3D with such a Shitty Engine.

  • I own this game on all consoles and emulated it myself onto dream cast

  • the slight tilt everytime duke turns make me want to puke...

  • Considering the Saturn was made a 2D system, with 3D just put in at the last minute of development, this blows the PSX out of the water for 3D quality.

  • @BO3000B

the saturn a 2D system ? is it a joke?

  • @Tigrou7777 well i hate to admit it but 3d was added late in the design process of the saturn .it seemde that sega was well on its way finishing up the hardware untill they saw the specs of the psx and therefore added a second chip for handling 3d.

  • Is this played on the sega saturn, or on your pc on a emul?

  • Isn't there a secret door right next to the end of the level (where it's all red)? I think that is how you access Duke Burger, but I'm not sure if it is in the Saturn port.

  • @Monacomaverick: What you talkin' about? That's not in any of the Duke Nukem versions...

  • @PencilPusher93 Well, my friend got there in the N64 version. I don't know if they included it in the Saturn port or not.

  • @PencilPusher93 there definatly is a duke burger part in first level i dont know how to get there tho. i remember i think on the n64 version seeing it through one of the cameras.

  • @zakkattakk89 no duke burger is in the atomic addition its in the chapter the birth.

  • @PencilPusher93 search for duke nukem 64 on youtube. click on second video down. towards the end of the video you see the area hes talking about. only in duke nukem 64 i beleive

  • @PencilPusher93 yes it is his talking about duke nukem 3d on Nintendo 64

  • @PencilPusher93 Actually Yes It Is, Its In Duke Nukem 64 But Its Not Duke Burger Its Like A Shop Place,

  • @PencilPusher93 There IS a door in the N64 version, but it takes you to a mart.

  • @Monacomaverick that's at the end of level 2 of the n64 version, you stand on a box and a wall opens to a hidden duke burger level

  • @Monacomaverick isn't it hidden behind a wooden wall?

  • @Monacomaverick In the N64 version only, it takes you to an office and a super market. Duke Burger is in Gun Crazy, the level that replaces Red Light District (same level, just strip club is replaced with a trucking site, and the bar is now a kitchen for the newly added Duke Burger restaurant.

  • @Monacomaverick You mean the N64 version. Notice that this is the Sega version.

The door you mean takes you to a grocery store. You can access the Duke Burger in a different level.

  • @Monacomaverick Duke Burger doesn't even exist outside of the Atomic Expansion Pack.

  • @psychogod I could have sworn it was in Duke Nukem 64 after watching videos of it.

  • They should replace Dukes model on HRP to better, and i mean makers.

Like one in install picture :)

  • The backgrounds look like sorta an early high resolution pack and they way the camera moves when he turns kinda tilts

  • it may or may not be true but ive heard that the code had to be almost rewritten fully for this port

  • @tinkerthecat

D3D on the Saturn used a completely different engine and not the original Build engine that D3D was made on.

It had the potential to be something great with the dynamic lighting, 3d model capability, true level over level, etc. but they did a half assed job.

All of the levels are mutilated, game logic went out the window and the entire game looks like rats maps galore. Not to mention maligned and squished textures.

  • at least they were able to port it. ^^

  • Why couldn't the Saturn version of DOOM play as well. Oh well. There's always the PC.

  • That's pretty neat, dynamic lightning and stuff like that.

  • yeah that's really great but i don't understand why they didn't bother to make 3d models for the enemies.

  • I think there weren't any 3D models for Duke enemies until the later Duke games on PSX and N64. Much easier to port the game and add some more pezazz.

It's already impressive since the Saturn's 3D capabilities were lacking.

  • Wow, never knew that level had so many secret. Nice vid.

  • good times :D

  • This version's my favorite.

  • what difficulty are you on?

  • I think it's Piece of Cake.

  • I have this game for PC, PSX, N64 and Saturn

( yes, I'm fan XD ). I think the N64 version is the best console version. But, IMHO, the Saturn version is better than the PSX one.

  • I agree.. N64 is the best version of Duke!

  • @Rajahgaming I have Duke3D(This game)for N64.I'm going to get the complete version from ebay, because I have only a demo of the PC version.I'm a big Duke Nukem fan too.

  • Duke's movements and the lighting on the Saturn version are far superior to the PSX.

  • which version is better the n64 or saturn version to this game?

  • Sega Saturn has the Best Music than all the other versions imo.

  • Agreed.

  • I find this level few without lively to compare with the other versions of the game

  • That colored lighting is pretty cool.

  • Indeed.

  • @rock1644 Its almost like an early version of Polymer

  • @Dakkiller1: Ha, yeah.

  • Maybe they should have done the same with the ps version. This uses the Powerslave engine, which was perfectly identical on both psx and saturn. I see on walls where the textures warp on angle.

The psx version uses the original graphics, but the engine doesn't do the perspective mapped textures (the un warping kind we see today) as well as the psx Doom port's. This is probably what lagged it.

  • Your absolutely right, it's those warped textures, as you said they only appeared on the Saturn version. They also appeared on Exhumed/Powerslave for the Saturn.

  • Yeah, I saw a facinating GBA 3d texture mapping demo of a 3d rectagle with a surface, which shows this very clearly. It has two texture modes, linear (warping) and perspective (non warping of course).

With linear on, it ran pretty smoothly. With perspective, it became lightly chuggy. In some spots it chugged alot.

  • sea saturn is so old :'(

  • Yeah, but still great :)

  • is there a way to still play it online?

  • It doesn't support online play.

  • Yes the netlink still works. It direct dials instead of connecting through a server. So as long as you know someone else with a Saturn and can place a longdistance call on a regular phone line, then yes you can play with the Netlink still. I've got video of an online Duke match I made last week.

  • wow, this must have been a bomb at the time...

  • Sure was!

  • Still IS bomb, son.

  • Sure is, son!

  • This is a good version of "Stalker", better synth than the PC version (I'm guessing that all the audio was recorded on a SoundCanvas and converted to Redbook, the title track definitely was) but it's rather vanilla compared to Mark Knight's remix, which is what is in Total Meltdown for PS1.

  • Absolutely, the Stalker track thats in this version is actual music, unlike the PC version which was all MIDI music, so they made the right descision by remixing the music :). Yeah, Mark Knight's "remix" was really cool, kinda Techno type. All in all, the music is much better than the PC version. :).

  • This version is using Redbook, or CD audio, but it was still the PC MIDI played via a Roland Sound Canvas SC-88 sound module and recorded. If you hook a SC-88 up to the PC, DN3D will sound he same.

  • what is years? 1995? It have really good graphic. 5/5

  • It's 1997, one year after the classic shooter was released on the PC.

  • haha... why are half the doors missing?

  • Heh, dunno, but you should see the Saturn prototype, Jesus Christ.

  • very nice i love the saturn version of Duke Nukem 3D it was the first version of the game i played when i was a young great memories!

i just played the ps1, n64 and pc versions of Duke Nukem 3d recently and i stil prefer the Saturn version it was great, i stil play this game

Duke nukem 3D is like in my top 10 best games i've esver played

i have a question, can you tell me how it was the saturn prototype of this game?

can you tell me were can i find information or videos of the prototype?

  • im with you. I knew this going to be a good game after playing Exhumed & Quake. Lobotomy did a good job with the saturn ports overall imo.

  • Yes, indeed.

  • Preferably I choose the PC version better because that's the first one I played when I was 5 or 6. I think the PC version is better personally but that's just my opinion.

  • Yeah, I completely agree, I think the PC version is well better aswell. =)

  • Considering that this was done on the Sega Saturn, it looks really good. Its better then the N64 and PSX versions. But not better then DOS. But still a great port!

  • The lighting effects are nice.

  • whoa.....this is different from the DOS! A lot of bugs.

  • Indeed... And for some reason, it looks like Duke is like 2 foot tall...

  • I thought I was the only one thinking that. :p

  • Least it's not censored. *looks at n64 port*

  • Yeah thats true, I hate censorship.
