also, do you think a guy with 2 years bjj experience can counter a lifetime of sambo and sumission training? Finally, someone with knowledge about fight history. Mirko, Hunt, Fujita (in thier primes) all showed that winning against Fedor isn't impossibly out of reach. I can't say that I'd like to see him lose but I'm sure it'll happen. I think the biggest factor in his success is his focus. If you haven't yet, watch "Baddest man on the planet" Fedors comments about not being the best fighter and not adjusting his training regimen to accomodate each opponents fighting style is pretty compelling.
fedor has alot of discipline.... he's showed that in alot of his past fights.. but what happened last nite was exactly what was expected... like I said, everyone knew AA was gonna come out sharp, but we also knew fedor was gonna test his chin... and he did... personally I want fedor to fight barnett then allistair then antonio silva...

I don't get the dominating part either.. the fight was 3 minutes long AA hitt'em with only glancing blows. cro cop and fujita both had fedor rocked... I also disagree with the wild haymaker.. when cro cop had fedor on his heels backin up, fedor fires the same overhand right and alomost takes cc's head off. he also uses the same right to stop hunt from advancing... its a defensive strike that fedor has trained, just like cro cop straight left counter, its used to stop an advancing opponent...

I would say thats dangerously close to finishing. being in a controlling position for 80% of the fight, taking your opponent several times and attempting to submit constantly..... your rite, the 3-4 punches fedor landed and all the submission defense fedor had to do was enough to win the fight... can you remind me who was bleeding during the fight?
fedor had the guillotine locked 3 times but arona was able to get out of it. he also had him in an ankle lock and hit him. i would say those sub attempts outweigh arona being on top and doing absolutely NOTHING. he did NOTHING. none of the takedowns were hard at all. and he didnt do anything standing. i watched the fight again and the decision was correct. he was on his back and had his arms wrapped around his face nowhere near the neck.

So arona attempted over almost 3x the subs fedor attempted... took fedor down atleast 5-6 times, held mount for minutes at a time, had side control for long portions of the rounds and throw in that retardo won all the scrambles... you also brought up that retardo just layed on him and didn't do anything, your wrong he controlled fedor and the fight... so being controlled on your back for over 80% of the fight, attempting much less submisions, not getting any takedowns and landing 3 punches wins?

well not since ufc one. but for around 5 years and not just ufc. ive kept up with pride and other organizations. and when did arona come close to finishing the fight. because he would grab an arm sometimes but never came close to locking in a submission. i just watched the fight again and arona didnt do much of anything. he had some really slow tripping take downs but nothing really worth paying attention to. i would have given the first two rounds a draw just like they did

Im curious what kind of game plan Andrei has. His been training with Freddie roach on his boxing part so just curious what will andrei gonna try to do. Is he gonna try to pick him apart and ply it safe or wait till fedor comes in and try to counter him? Who knows either way Its gonna be a great weekend with Affliction and Mosley vs Margarito. Gonna stay open minded bout Fedor vs Arlvski cause I think Andrei has a good chance of beating Fedor if he connects, but Im still rooting for Fedor.
yeah. i don't see arlovski being the aggressr in this fight, he has backpedalled before, and fedor is always aggressive and non-stop with his aggression. the way i see it, andrei's best chance is to keep movin and use ANGLES on his feet, if he stands in front of fedor hes gonna get KO'd, n fedor will finish him on the ground.

All respect to AA but FE will take him out rather quick. You cant beat FE in an all over-game. You have to be a couple of notches better than FE on at least one aspect of the game and then take it there. Some what like tried to do: take it to the ground, since regarding grappling Nog can take FE. The problem is that right now, nobody can beat FE although I think Mir would give him the toughest match or maybe Lesnar if he survives the first round..
correction: Nog = Nogueira, and it was him who was trying to take the fight to the ground...I think Mir or Lesnar might be the two fighters competing for the spot behind FE...that doesn't have to mean that they are good, but I think they'd make the best (least bad) fight against FE..
andrei is somewhat conservative in his punches, despite the strength. he has to be more aggressive and attack more boldly...if he wants to remain standing with Fedor. No doubt, fedor will win.
Arlovski's only chance is in the stand up to use his jab and keep his distance. He needs to make this into a boxing match utilizing footwork to stick and move. Once this fight goes to the ground it's a wrap.
Two of my favorite fighters of all time going at it. Prediction is fedor to beat him pretty badly. But Andrei can slug some heavy punches. So any real puncher always has a chance should be a great fight to watch.

Finally, someone with knowledge about fight history. Mirko, Hunt, Fujita (in thier primes) all showed that winning against Fedor isn't impossibly out of reach. I can't say that I'd like to see him lose but I'm sure it'll happen. I think the biggest factor in his success is his focus. If you haven't yet, watch "Baddest man on the planet" Fedors comments about not being the best fighter and not adjusting his training regimen to accomodate each opponents fighting style is pretty compelling.

I would say thats dangerously close to finishing. being in a controlling position for 80% of the fight, taking your opponent several times and attempting to submit constantly..... your rite, the 3-4 punches fedor landed and all the submission defense fedor had to do was enough to win the fight... can you remind me who was bleeding during the fight?

fedor had the guillotine locked 3 times but arona was able to get out of it. he also had him in an ankle lock and hit him. i would say those sub attempts outweigh arona being on top and doing absolutely NOTHING. he did NOTHING. none of the takedowns were hard at all. and he didnt do anything standing. i watched the fight again and the decision was correct. he was on his back and had his arms wrapped around his face nowhere near the neck.

So arona attempted over almost 3x the subs fedor attempted... took fedor down atleast 5-6 times, held mount for minutes at a time, had side control for long portions of the rounds and throw in that retardo won all the scrambles... you also brought up that retardo just layed on him and didn't do anything, your wrong he controlled fedor and the fight... so being controlled on your back for over 80% of the fight, attempting much less submisions, not getting any takedowns and landing 3 punches wins?

well not since ufc one. but for around 5 years and not just ufc. ive kept up with pride and other organizations. and when did arona come close to finishing the fight. because he would grab an arm sometimes but never came close to locking in a submission. i just watched the fight again and arona didnt do much of anything. he had some really slow tripping take downs but nothing really worth paying attention to. i would have given the first two rounds a draw just like they did

ya I was rootin for hunt when the fight happened... when it came to decision time like randy coutoure I felt wanderlei did enough to sqeak out the decision. and being in pride if the fight was close japanese judges usually give the nod to the smaller fighter but, pride had other plans for hunt (cro cop/fedor)... with rampage and ninja, the winner of that fight got an invite to the mwgp. having shogun and wand already involved in the tourney it made no sense to have ninja. so page gets the dec.

Im curious what kind of game plan Andrei has. His been training with Freddie roach on his boxing part so just curious what will andrei gonna try to do. You have to be a couple of notches better than FE on at least one aspect of the game and then take it there. Some what like tried to do: take it to the ground, since regarding grappling Nog can take FE. i believe fedor will win but i think ur right arlovski has the best chance of anybody based on quick straight punches compared to fedor's round lopping punches if arlovski can make it a boxing match he can win .. problem is if it goes to the ground or if fedor can land one of his looping hay-makers.. should be intresting and fun fight .. have u notice ufc commericals about ufc fight with jnegora n they never mention his losses to fedor ..

I feel bad for andrei after seeing this.... he´s a good guy. I think andrei´s training should be in Siberia like the Rocky Balboa´s on Rocky IV against Ivan Drago, Andrei is going to fight a Skynet machine, i hope this fight to be a fuckin war, i dont want another Tim Sylvia, Andrei looks more focus though.

he's kicking this way because that how your supposed to kick in an mma match. Ur completely right that he needs to turn his hips over more for more power but that would leave him off balance and wide open for take downs. He also is using that technique so there not as obvious and telegraphed as the traditional style of kicking.

He doesn't twist his lead foot when he throws his roundkick. He is loosing power because of that. He is also dropping his left hand too much while doing so too.
If I was Fedor I would be waiting for that drop and then I would floor him.

arlovski is in for a whoopin, watch and see. he is a very good fighter at times, but he will be totally dominated in every possible situation that comes up. fedor is in a class all by himself. the only worry is a very hard,straight right down the middle when fedor comes in with his lightning hooks. barring that, fedor stays #1, and arlovski probably stays top 5 or so, unless he really looks like shit.

Striking they are on par, considering Fedor will nullify Andrei's kick's. He made Mirko look silly and Mirko is a MUCH better kicker then Andrei. Submission's goes to Fedor. Wrestling/Sambo goes to Fedor. Really don't know a single area that Andrei is better in. Andrei is a great fighter but he is outclassed. He will choke the same way he did with Tim Sylvia. He is known for being amazing in some fights and being complete shit in others. This will be a fight in which he is shitty, watch and see.

Andrei has never been complete shit in any fight. You are severely underestimating him, and I doubt you are a fighter yourself. For starters, "wrestling/sambo" do not go together like they are the same thing...they're not. Fedor is probably better at Sambo, and better at submissions, but Andrei is the better wrestler. If Fedor gets it to the ground, he'll have the advantage, but that's a big if. Just because fighter A has better kicks than Fighter B, does not mean Fighter B can't use them.

He has fought better wrestler's, better submission artist's, and better striker's and he has dropped them all. I really want to hear your example's of why you think Fedor won't drop Andrei lol. You aren't understanding what "dropped" means. I mean, one punch K.O.'s. And, literally, knocking an opponent to the ground. Fedor knocked out his first opponent, sense then, who has he dropped? Tim, but who hasn't? He never dropped Minotauro, or Cro Cop, or anyone else outside of rings. And this isn't a video game, just because he beat one opponent who is better at a specific thing, does not mean Andrei can't use that specific thing effectively.

You just don't seem to be able to comprehend anything; it's pathetic. Nogueira was put down by Sylvia, Herring, Barnett, and Cro Cop. Arlovski has finished far more opponents with striking than Fedor. Just in his last few fights, he's been dominating with knock outs. Fedor has knocked out one opponent, and besides severely overmatched opponents that he shouldn't have been fighting in the first place, he either wins by submission or decision.
