  • I love the Kaiser Chiefs, really did The Beatles justice.

  • you really need to see how they record this songs if you see that you will rethink about the kaiser chiefs XD

praise the audio engineer for the great work back then and even now :)

  • @RVDBWOW I'm not sure if that a praise or not for KCs but I don't care either way.. I liked this version maybe as much as the Beatles..

but I came here to say if you like the engineer you should read Geoff Emmerick's book about working with the Beatles starting with Revolver when he was 19 (!) through St. Pepper and the 'awful' White Album sessions.. it's pretty fascinating!

  • @redcrosseknightmusic thx m8 will do will be fun for my class aswell :)

  • fantastic cover

  • The original was a great exercise in minimalism. There wasn't anything else to strip out of the song. And the auto-tune vocals suck

  • my 2 fav bands! The Beatles! (the song) and The Kaiser Cheifs! =)

  • I dislike most of the bands that took part in this. But they all did a decent job

  • Nice job boys.

  • Wow.

  • hate autotune... or that fckn' shit on his voice....

  • being from up north does not give the excuse to perform beatles songs badly. this song doesn't even suit you, every other word isn't "oh", "na" or "da"

  • the timing is all off ... sounds paint by numbers. no feeling. sorry about that. can't all be oasis. i'm not an oasis fan but they blew everyone else away in these sessions.

  • Apparently it was very cold in the studio...:-)

  • not bad...

  • wow ricky has a really simalar voice!

  • I reckon Ricky's vocal's sound a bit to robotic and he didn't sound like he was putting a lot into it really :(

  • Vocals are great... could use some more guitar. The bass is a nice departure without showing off. Nice.

  • Abysmal-all over the fucking place

  • Do you hear something from John in Ricks voice?

  • i think ricky does humble justice to maca's voice, very good cover

  • that was pretty amazing :D

  • kaisers are awesome. jonas brothers? WHO THE FUCK ARE JONAS BROTHERS LOL?!

  • @Theris1337 i am tired of guys mentioning the jonas brothers justin bieber, i dont know some random disney kid in EVERY FUCKING VIDEO

  • I love how thy didn't ruin the song with the new gay style of music such as glee's cover of hello goodbye , Jonas Brothers version of hello goodbye , and Godheads cover of Eleanor Rigby , This has to be the best cover of a song i've ever seen. :)

  • @TheBeatlesRUL3

You haven't heard the Dirt Poor Robins' cover of Eleanor Rigby I take it?

  • This is fucking atrocious

  • Could've used a little more guitar. Just a little.

  • Yes, respectful... so that it's kind of lifeless. Like playing classical music, when all the fire and danger and invention of the original has been laid dead on a page. Like a high school girl, politely playing a Beethoven piano sonata, without a flicker of passion. Now imagine playing 'Getting Better' if you'd only just written it - and just before the first take, you suddenly thought of adding that wonderful grinding chord that hangs in the middle. Will it work? Let's see! 1-2-3 FOH!

  • I once had a football kicked very forcefully into my bollocks. They seemed to spend several agonising seconds slowly sinking back into position having been propelled up towards my stomach. I sank to my knees and cried like a baby.

Fun and games compared to listening to this, though.

  • almost all cover versions of other people's songs suck but the kaiser chiefs have nailed it and made it sound good (perhaps better) than the orignal version.

  • @TheSebMyster1 Except the vocals then... You need to listen to Slade s version of it!

  • @TheSebMyster1 Better? Nah.

  • i love this cover

  • this cover and the one Travis makes are the only good covers of this cover sessions

  • Comment removed

  • @sumerez Wow you think this is great? How about the vocals and drums? I am not so sure...

  • It's great to see Geoff Emerick. He was 19 when he started recording the Beatles!

  • love it... sends goose bumps! Good ones x

  • what a shiit!

  • Wow. Really not together

  • Was this tribute album ever recorded? I cannot find it on iTunes.

  • itunes doesnt have everything and yes it was recorded i have it. Doesnt beat the beatles lol not even close ut at least they tried

  • Great cover! Right on!

  • Not bad, really. I see some people complain about how poor the guitar is, or the voice... yes, it sounds a bit plain, but it has to do with the fact that The Beatles did things in studio that not even themselves were able to do again...

    Cheers!

  • Getting better since you've been mine... :)

  • wow. this really has the beatles style to it!

  • @carlphone

naturally... lets see if we have the same idea of a bealtes like cover...

  • This is just embarrassing-not used to recording without pro-tools obviously

  • @thenowuk Noone is these days. It's takes years to learn how to record properly with 60's equipment. And whats the point, you can just record with better equipment now. You really think the Beatles would have recorded on low quality 4 track recorders if they had another solution?

  • @jjay75 Lots of musicians still use old analogue gear,tapes,etc....the warmth of sound is incomparable,Jack White for example.....anyway,the point was, they're performance is all over the place, timing etc is shockingly bad

  • @thenowuk I'm not arguing the Kaiser Chiefs are a good band or anything. But analogue equipment these days is either of a very high standard or the bands that use it are trying to sound cheap and live.

The Beatles would have embraced all modern recording technology is my point.

  • @jjay75 how do they record music today anyway?

  • @sathanocracy generally through extended digital techniques that allow them to mesh huge amounts of different stuff together effortlessly, when it used to take the beatles days.

  • @jjay75 don't exactly know what knowledge you have on audio production but as a sound engineer I know for a fact that digital doesnt compare to analogue in terms of warth, depth or clarity. The Beatles would not have used digital as their engineer, George Martin embraced analogue sound even into the days of digital, so sit down and shut up, 'kay?

  • Awsome cover! by the Chiefs bout the only 1 that they do (part from Jam ones)

  • shite.

  • just, amazing.

  • NICE!

    BEATLES FOREVER...

  • very brilliant cover!

  • SHITE!

  • I like all the covers (except magic numbers) very refreshing and shows what brilliant songs they are

  • "have to admit it's getting BETTER" ???? singer misses the right note, totally

  • @uburei EXATCLY he dosen't go high enough

  • So lame.

I don't get why people cover beatles song.

Nothing can ever compare to the originals, and why listen to a cover of people playing the same fucking thing when you can listen the geniuses do it themselves.

  • Because not everyone in the world is an elitist music douche snob, simply put.

  • @carlphone lol.

its been 50 years and the beatles are still popular as all hell.

this band is already washed up and will be forgotten in no time.

And I will glady stick with my 'geniuses'.

  • Comment removed

  • @anewamericanclassic Is hell a popular place?

  • @carlphone i don't know how you could like this cover.

the guitars quiet but aint bad, but the drummer cant fill worth shit, and the vocalist makes me want to shoot myself in the fucking face.

  • Comment removed

  • @anewamericanclassic Don t understand english verbal vandalism but I won t stop you from killing yourself if you want to do that if that is what you are saying (haha)

  • poop

  • quality

  • Sorry.....they have just killed a great song

  • no they didnt, they did what they were supposed to do. make a cover version of the song. and thats what they did.

  • @h15jkc Vocals not so good, original sound though. Not a great song by the Beatles

  • Bloody great cover.

Saw the beatles live in Leeds in 65 they were not this good.

    Well done Kaisers!

  • Way too fast. The singer just sounds not that great. The structure was altered a little too. Other than that, it was alright.

  • didn't like it! the lead singer sounds like a monotonous robot, or he just can't sing!

he sounded out of breath and the whole session felt strained.

  • don't like it so much, but a good try. especially the ending!

  • great cover...cant top the beatles but i like the way they put their own kaiser chiefs sound to it:)<3 beautiful!!

  • I like the vocals - needs that working class attitude, but what the hell were they doing with backing, a wasted chance - is it even in time?

  • needs the droning G

  • buen cover

kaiser chiefs es re buena banda

  • GREAT COVER

  • From revo9 - 7/10 for effort lads, if just for effort, can be done so much better.

Vocals rigid, missing that loose feelgood vibe. Nice faithful inclusion of Lennon's harmonies through the verses.

    Loosen up.

    Less is more.

  • @cheziecat can't agree anymore

    just listened to the original

    which sounded much better

  • Vocals are good, but the instrumentation has nothing on the original. Seems as they were trying to recapture the original i would say they have pretty much failed.

Oh the backing vocals are weak too.

  • I liked it!!! xD

  • This is good

  • Not bad. Kept it close to the same which is a safe. Putting a modern spin on a cover is risky and usally fails. Guitar was weak. Vocals were very well done. Drums were pretty good and a decent bass.

  • Good vocal harmonies.the instrumental part is not good.Guitarist is very weak, he adds very little to the song

  • great cover

  • A great cover, feel proud KC... honest x

  • this is terrible

  • where can i download this?

  • get the youtube to mp3 converter add on for firefox .only takes a mo

  • Google "youtube downloader" and you should be able to find some software that can download the video's (or as mp3's if you like) to your ipod or mp3 player!

  • For what it's worth, I think this is one of the best Beatles cover versions around. Not a massive fan of the Kaiser Chiefs, but gotta give them this one, they did a cracking job with it.

  • thats time im never getting back

  • this was a really good cover... they didn't change it too much where it sounds bad... but they didn't stick so closely to the original to make it not worth listening to instead of listening to the original

  • The instrumental part was so-so, but that's just because The Beatles did a LOT of thing in the studio...but the vocals were really great :O

  • They did very LITTLE with the instrumental part in the studio on this song, actually. This is a very heavily vocal song, and it sounds so thick because they just about always have a three-part harmony running.

  • It's not the best cover in the world. The original has so many sounds going on in the background, it's fab.

  • Bear in mind there are two guitarists in The Beatles, both of which are admittedly better than Whitey. That said, the Kaiser Chiefs take a big chunk of influence from The Beatles and this is a pretty good cover.

(Don't take this as me hating the Chiefs - best live band I've seen - full of energy!)

  • hosti.... Ricky se esta tranquilo... que cosa mas rara... mola esta versión... lo que pasa es que los Beatles son intocables pero no esta nada mal...

    KAISER CHIEFS RULES!!!!

  • Está muy pitera esta versión de los Kaiser...

  • I was expecting this to be a terrible version of the song but they actually did a really good job. Not perfect but still highly enjoyable

  • Pretty good, nothing to say about it.

  • I loved that documentary.... But i wish u cld buy the cd some where... Does any1 know where i can get it? :P xXx

  • Awesome !!!! The new Beatles :PP Congratulations !!!!

  • these guys at least respect the beatles and don't do a gay stupid version of the song

  • It's completely ridiculous to compare Kaiser Chiefs with the Jonas Brothers

  • @AGENT24 That's right-they're both shit

  • @AGENT24 I agree. Shame!

  • @AGENT24 yes. that is true :D

  • r u serious???

  • great job chiefs!

  • oh i hope that is irony...

  • The Beatles are my favourite band; Kaiser Chiefs are my second favourite. My eyes changed to the shape of hearts when I found this!! I really love the cover. To be fair, the original is better than 95% of all covers, but IMO I think they did a good job!

  • Reading again it sounded a bit unclear; I meant that in 95% of the cases originals are better than covers, ofcourse, not just on this song.

  • Alright! So it's not the Beatles . .

but what better salute to a GREAT band, than young bands 40 YEARS LATER still playing their tunes - as they were originally meant to be played, no new arrangements - raw.

I watched this when it aired on the BBC - FAB!

  • me too ! It was pretty late on air , wasn't it ?

  • it sounds rushed toward the end, but other than that, this is one of the best covers i've heard :)

  • very poor these boys. it hurts to hear it any longer

  • It's recorded 1960's style on analgoue 4-track. What did you expect?!

  • ricky wilson is changing his shirt after a fev seconds... wtf?

    xD

i love the kaiser chiefs. and the drummer is hot.

  • i think the drummer is the worst bit.. but its not THAT bad............ maybe u guys are really really hardcore beatles fanatics? but its not like they messed up or anything...

  • oh c'mon.

    it's not bad.

  • What was john's line..."Can't get no worse". Guess he was right after all.

  • I didn't know this song could be so lousily played

  • ha paul mccartney said he liked this band...lame

  • Lamentable.

  • wtf? this sucks. damn guitarist didn't even attempt to play what's on the record. fucking gay. take this shit down.

  • lol-on all the covers from these sessions they miss the intricate and subtle music of the originals-especially the basslines which they play so poorly

  • Abysmal.

  • I enjoyed it, no it's not the original, but still cool to listen to.

  • now you can hear how actually amazing the beatles were when you hear this crap.

  • love it

  • shit

  • isn't so bad

  • they just ruined a great song..

  • LOL !

  • I absolutely love the Kaiser Chiefs, but I find this a bit mediocre.

Covering certain Beatles songs is never an easy task.

  • and this is *only* the 20th take

  • he do it better than u 4 sure

  • the jonas i FUKING HATE!! bunch ov american twats! how dare they try re-creat a english bands song! ... must agree with the guy below that this is a gud cover version,

  • Most of the time when bands take great Beatles songs and butcher them. But Kaiser Chiefs did amazing with this song, but that Jonas Brothers remake of Hello Goodbye was terrible. I was genuinely pissed when i heard them play that song.

  • The Jonas Brothers should never have done that remake. It sounded like crap. I think it actually IS crap.

  • The first time i heard it i was both horrified and angry. Actually i was horrified, then angry.

  • I'm sure Macca was not too pleased either. Why do those little anal fissures think they can cover a Beatles song? They're no more than 20 years old.

  • And they just plain suck. Their voice alone makes my ears bleed.

  • my daughter has the hots for the Jonas Brothers. She's too young to know about the Beatles too, so I guess she doesn't realize how big of an injustice that song is to the Beales.

  • How old is your daughter? I'm only 13 and i realize the injustice of that remake.

  • she's 19. You pay attention. Too bad the Jonas Brothers didn't read up on the Beatles.

  • It's a shame. Wow 19, well, my Dad used to sing the Beatles to me every night for my bedtime song, so i guess that's why it left such a big imprint on me.

  • I saw Sean Lennon live last year. He's funny like his dad.

  • Sweet! I would have loved to see that, but i live in Wisconsin and nothing ever happens here.

  • I live in Vermont. I was astounded that he came here. I was glad!

  • That's so lucky! The last interesting thing to happen here was a snowstorm that left 14 inches. Do you realize that we took up an entire page of comments?

  • I didn't realize that until you mentioned it. That's pretty funny...
