GTI is the type of igntion they use for the car. Look it up I believe it's gran turismo igintion.. That's why there are GTI 1.8T and GTI VR6 because they use the same type of ignition whicch is a different set up then the regular golf

the gti is the body that the car is just like the jetta and the carrado ect. the vr6 is the engine thats inside the gti this is why it says "2001 gti vr6 run" and the guy talkin about the r32 is correct its just the r32 cause they only put that motor into the golf/gti body

In terms of performance mods I just have a K&N drop-in filter and a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust. It's a little quicker than stock but nothing crazy. I definitely notice that there's no need to rev past 6000 with the stock cams and ECU but it's got plenty of torque from 3000-6000 so it's a good daily driver. I'm thinking about doing a chip now that gas prices are back in the $2 range so we'll see. Being a VW, I have some maintenance issues I need to address first before I do any more mods =)

I have an '01 Jetta VR6 and there is no way I can hit 100 in 3rd. I take it your chip has a higher rev limit than stock? This video makes me wanna chip mine, cause I'm probably running damn near 7.0 0-60 and yours is definitely quicker. Even though the GTI is lighter it's probably only about 100 lbs lighter than the Jetta.
