I have a couple of VS pedals; the reason for the boost in vol. between pedals is that 'bass boost' switch on the VS rte.808. Ihave the same switch on mine & it adds quite a bit of a vol. boost to the overall vol. output...

ts808 sounds ever so slightly warmer and seems more true to the natural vintage over-driven tone that you would be trying to achieve with either of these pedals, despite the fact that it is slightly lower level-wise, that is easily adjustable... but it does cost around double. I wouldn't compromise my tone for practicality/ cost.. but I can understand the attraction to the vs808, it's definitely not a bad pedal.

I find this video hard to beleive as I've heard Digitech overdrives sound beter then that 808... something is off with this video.

Ha!! And some people claim that Tubescreamers don't sound good through Vox amps... This sounds GREAT imho!

@ec101dm Yes i also heard that (read that) a lot, I got an ac15c1 and it sounds Great with my Jekyll (route 808)....and it comes to its highest point when i staked it with my Timmy!

I have the VS Double Trouble, basically 2 Route 808's in a double pedal. AWESOME is all I gotta say.

with the bass boost turned off they sound identical to the TS808 but louder.

I like to set my Double Trouble with OD 1 as a boost and then crank the drive on the OD2. They sound good by themselves but putting them togther pushes a tube amp into total meltdown. ;)
