Your voice reminds me of the guy that does the Motel 6 commercials :). I lived the first 16 years of my life in Wisconsin, and Walker revolts me-- Though Arizona isn't much better :( .
Congratulations, Wisconsin!!!!! Round one is over and you reign victorious! Now, on to November and making sure those same ONE MILLION recall petition signers get out to vote!
Hopefully, Michigan will be following suit this spring when Recall Snyder 2.0 begins.
We had a similar sewing machine while I was at home. I made many Barbie dresses on that machine. We also had my grandmother's treadle machine. I LOVED playing with that thing but Mom never let me sew on it. :-(
@debbieomi It's pretty damned unlikely that nearly half of the signatures will get thrown out so it does look like we've accomplished the first step. The representative for my district is up for recall too, but I haven't been able to find any numbers for him.
ADORABLE KITTY!!!!! On a more intellectual note, your idea of limiting a legislator's pay to the average income is a pretty good idea. Don't think it'll happen any time soon, but it's still a great idea. Also, THAT KITTY WAS SO ADORABLE, I WANT TO SQUEEZE IT!!!!!
@GurrenPrime You'd have to catch her first, Pansy is still pretty wild. She has settled down some, I can get within about a foot of her before she bolts.
Getting the pay pegged to the median income would never make it through a legislature, but I bet it would pass nearly unanimously as a referendum or ballot inititive.
Those old sewing machines were built like tanks. My wife has a super-duper newy-dewy computer controlled machine that needs repair if you so much as breathe on the damn thing. I'll take my Grandma's old machine any day. You can sew sheet metal on those monsters!
@ozmoroid It's hard to stop 25 pounds of cast iron and machined steel. I've heard from more than one person who works with leather that they do their sewing with an old treadle powered Singer just for that reason.
I had to check to make sure Koch Industries isn't responsible for Koch headphones. It appears they are not, which is good, because I love those headphones. They sound good.
Better than "Scott Walker, Wisconsin governor," at any rate.
Well, looks as though there are one million signatures for the recall, as you probably are aware. They're just awaiting verification. I was all over the state during the holidays, from the Northwoods to the Fox Valley to Milwaukee, and saw the petitions everywhere. Had to keep telling the volunteers, "Sorry, can't: already signed."
I used to have a sewing machine like that, I picked it up at a yardsale. I have no idea what ever became of it. Interesting intro to Gov. Walker by saying Panzie. Fitting, very fitting.
@comslave Good catch, I picked up the habit back when I was working for the Department of Redundency Department. :) But you missed the part where I said "certification project" instead of "process".
OMFG brother, @ 1:59 that is a hell'f a segway!! its 2am (long night) & i was dozin off tryin to catch up on my subs. when that happened i ROFLd so damn hard my neighbors must be thinking "mhm he's finally cracked, knew it was bound to happen eventually w'im glued to that pc so much" >.<
@AuntieDiluvian Thanks, but maybe I shouldn't have done so well. Now the Mrs. wants me to rebuild the old Singer treadle machine we have out in the shed.
dang, mudbrooker...i can't vote for you...unless it counts that i ALSO live in a state that begins with "W"..and includes the letters w,s,o,n?i could start a write in campaign! thumbs up for the dog and the cat...we CAN all get along!
Cool sewing machine. Cute biiig pup and little kitteh.
I like that protester's sign-tell it like it is. I've been keeping up with what y'all have been doing, and that burn notice bit made me really mad-in a tiny part because I really like the tv show Burn Notice.
Bet they didn't expect this to happen when they were running over y'all like a locomotive from hell. Derailing them must feel very satisfying. : )
@phenixwryter I have high hopes for the recall effort, If we can force a new election and win, it will show everybody that the next step for the occupy movement is to move from the streets and start occupying the polls.
Love this approach, you're one of my favorite Youtube video makers. My great aunt had the sewing machine, (but that's not why I like your approach....even tho restoring something that old is a tribute to your skills as a mechanic .) Hope Gov Walker goes down and that there's some way for the voters to get back any tax money paid to him because he ran on a false promise to voters.
I have never seen this much buyer's remorse with regard to politicians... at least not in my lifetime. Not like it will get any better no matter who is voted in. They are all crooks, whether they have a D or an R in front of the name. Then again, I could just be cynical.
@tattooskin72 Yeah, all the the most ignorant teabaggers have been less than impressed by the people they put in office. But then again Walker won by a very narrow margin in the first place so his support was never all that deep. If I get elected I'll be sure to put an FR (Fake Republican) in front of my name. Hopefully people won't confuse me with a Catholic priest.
Nice, sounds like a project I would have taken on myself(sewing machine). Having skills can save a substantial amount of cash, not to mention the sense of achievement associated with tackling such a task. I had a Singer with the same problem, the oil turned to hardened glue.
@JesusFknChrist666 I do pretty much everything around here myself, carpentry, plumbing, electrical and mechanical. Comes of never having the money to hire it done. That and I like doing things for myself anyway.
@TheMudbrooker Exactly how I learned to do everything mentioned. What little money I've had never seemed to be enough to have the work done by a hired hand. Have a Great Day.
Koch Industries is on my shit list along with Monsanto. Most of the people (in upper management positions, for these two companies) should be seen as enemies of the people. If nothing else they should not be trusted!
Looks like a lotta' work invested in restoring that sewing machine.
Politicians need to stop being schemers, and function as a public servants working for the interest of the people.
@EuphoricImpact It would be nice indeed if our politicians didn't view their positions as a stepping stone to a cushy lobbyist job when they leave office.
I like the the pay idea. The minimum wage should be linked as well. If congressmen need a raise and cant get by, seems it would be true of people making the minimum.
@TheFeltbegone Last year, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan was pissing and moaning that he could barely make ends meet on his salary of $160,000+ per year. The average individual in Wisconsin makes about $25,000 a year. Needless to say, he didn't get a lot of sympathy.
