it's really good maybe throw in some different chords though do something called a deceptive cadence where instead of going V i, go V VI. which in the key of C# minor would be G# major to A major. and maybe have more of a climax or a big chorus part, it seems to be building to nothing. it's really good though
Nice composition, I think that U have great talent and this can be your first composition of your album. If u product some, I am sure, I will buy it:-)
I absolutely love this. It has that intriguing characteristic to it...almost mystifying and wonderful at the same time. This is beautiful :) I just finished composing my own song, well it's a work in progress, but this is really inspiring. Thanks so much for putting this up! And never stop playing!!
It's amazing and i would like to mention that similar chords I heard from a Tamil movie called "Kadhalil Vizhundhen" which was released in Sept 2008 and the song name "Unakena naan enakena nee". Furthermore, it's available in same Youtube.
Cheers and please let me know if my observation is accurate.
Take care and b in touch......all the best....my friend
Man, seriously, when I listened to the first seconds of this music, I fell in love with it. Do not listen to people that are saying that your music repeats the same chords. This gives a kind of "charm" to the music
You MUST never stop playing, you should compose musics like this one
So tell me again....why haven't you got a CD? Cause with this song, I'd say you could create a CD for just piano songs and THIS should be the highlight of it.
hey i really want to learn that music plz and i dont going to steal you its just im new in piano and i love it and i love learn beatifull pieces so plz make a sheet and send me a copy ty
I love music pieces where the same chords are used over and over again, it gives that kind of repetitive feeling that I love. You should never stop playing!
This I could be listening to every day in more than five weeks, without getting bored!'
Left hand was mediocre, slightly interesting for the first few measures but after several repeats it got dull and boring. Theres so many things you could do with the right hand for example you could add ornaments which will make the piece even more beautiful. The harmony is boring after a while because it revolves around a main tune. More dynamics would be interesting. Perhaps you could play broken chords for your right hand but then again it is your composition.
@Vesivian how many people do that? not too many. i'm not saying that they're the only person to have ever done it. and to compose their own song using their left hand the most, they've already created their style. don't make mean comments based off of your assumptions.
its beautiful though it is the same chords i do not mind for there is subtle changes in them which makes it simple and pleasant instead of drastic changes which can be nice but i prefer more basic changes, keep up your creations they are very pleasant to hear
i'm fourteen, i've taught myself piano for nearly four years now and am at about grade five or six.....i can play anything i want to play, but i just wish i could compose something - all i can do is play other people's pieces and not anything of my own because i can never think of anything.....if anyone has any tips on how to get started, i would very much appreciate it!
@iluvKH4eva to start, listen to a song you like, get part of it stuck in your head. play it through in your head until you reach the end - now comes the composing part. Just start making your own tune at the end of what you think it should sound like, and keep twiddling bits around in your head until you like it. It's a useful way to start off any compositions.
SIR: I am 15 years old. I have been learning the keyboard for 3 years or so. And of late I have started composing my own songs. They are all HAPPY kind of songs and are ATTRACTIVE, but after a week or two, I start disliking them. Moreover, they do not have any DISTINCT rhythm. The right hand is a mere repition of the chords. So please advise how to compose.
Your composition was something which brought some EMOTION. so please advise how to make SUCh types of song.
you're very talented. it sounds lovely, but it doesn't feel as though it progresses. I agree with the suggestion that you should play the right hand parts louder or the left hand parts more softly. maybe also add in a crescendo so it builds?
I´m :O. Its amazing, incredible, ecc.It is very similar to my compositions. Gloria in excelsis piano. Do you speak spanish?, because I can´t express totally my ideas in english.
DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh I kept watching this OVER and OVER!!! I have to say, this is amazing!!! I could listen to this song all day. I love the chords throughout the song. Perhaps you could expand and try more chords to deepen the range....just a suggestion. I always have trouble with using only about two or three chords. so I know it's a pain. Overall, keep it up. =) You are VERY talented. I think you should make a tutorial of this song, because I would like to learn it. =)

Well, your composition isn't too bad, but you keep using the same chords over and over again. Maybe you should make a bridge or something and maybe you shouldn't start with the chords you play almost the whole composition with. Also your right hands does'nt play any fast notes. Maybe you should make the melody faster at some parts and slower at other parts. The last advice I will give not to play the left hand to loud, because it makes the accompany sound more important than the melody.
that was great, could improve if the left hand didnt repeat itself throughout the whole song. The right hand also played single notes throughout the whole song.
Really good piece, i like how the left hand flows and the how right hand joins in at 0:17 adding to the melody. Also, the change in right hand at 0:54 keeps the song interesting and not repetitive. Maybe you could make that change at 0:54 more flowing as there is a slight pause when moving your hands to the keys. You could also experiment more with the left hand as it is repetitive throughout the whole song and changing it a little might give something new to it. Overall though, great song! xx
holy crap!!! your like freaking Mozart or something!!! great job... u should hear my friend... she composes hecka good pieces... althougg i still rate yours above hers... :p

Oh wow, same 4 chords in left hand the whole time. Very nice. I would have loved to hear you play the right hand at least once an octave higher would have been a nice touch and resolving back to the range you were playing, know what I mean, still very nice. I will have to try this pattern is very impressive. Thank you.
Just make it go somewhere. Tell us a story; entertain us.
Another thing, don't be afraid to steal the sounds of more famous composers. There's not a single composer, famous or otherwise, who has not started out by emulating past masters.
Anyway, this sounds great. Don't listen to the haters - composition is not easy.
I totally agree with Witchcraftlord, this melody has already been heard over and over again, I don't mean that it isn't pleasant to listen to it, it is actually, but it doesn't bring anything new, as if the player had to stay on that boring melody. Actually, this is not composition, this is masturbation...
this is boring , like alot of other peoples "own compositions" its sounds too commercial, too pop music like the other peoples "own compositions" , ive heard this style before, its been done too much, most of the time i hear repeated chord progressions, dirges, i wanna hear some counterpoint, you need to compose music where the bass and treble is its own independent melody or voice, not just come up with a predictable left hand progression with a slow right hand accompaniment
This is wonderful, and enchanting. Somehow listening to it feels like reliving a childhood memory. I'm sorry if this makes no sense, it was just how it made me feel.
this is a nice piece, don't get me wrong. however, it would be great for you to step out of your comfort zone. the bass c#m A major, f# minor, to the e/G# is a nice progression, but go somewhere with it. I don't know what kind of music you listen to, but try the later beethoven sonatas, or chromatic bach pieces for examples of this. you have a good start but you could definately expand your horizons and try something "scary" it would do you a world of good compositionally.
Yes modern music uses this system very frequently for some reason. Classical music almost never used this method. When i try to compose a song it is really difficult to expand the bass line because of this "down-third, down-third down-third up-second" system stuck in my head.
your left hand playing is totally awesome, very fluid, the melody is good, the construction is good, the sound is godd, all is good, that's a very great video here, 5stars, i love this song now ;)
It's great! When I hear a song on piano, including songs I know, I think to myself: It sounds so simple, I could have composed that , (why didn't i think of that!) but then I come to a realisation that I can't! Unless of coarse, the reason I can't is because I have such a negative view :). Anyway, I enjoyed it, although you should keep moulding the song, and keep experimenting! Sometimes I make 'mistakes' when trying to compose, but they turn out great! But I forget what i played sometimes :(
@IkTheNew Not really try, older pianos tend to have 85 keys but any new piano I have seen/used/bought has always had 88 and many companies have be known to make keys which have more than this too.
Its a really nice song, I like it and it sounds great. I don't wanne offend you you any way, but hope to try to give you some new idea's.
If you anylise it, its not to complicated or renewing. I've been composing piano music for some time now, and i've learned a few new things ( had some lessons in it from Klas Torstenson a swedish modern music composer) This song is written as a classic song, with the known sounds, accords and ye, 'flow'. its sounds relaxing, not disturbing or ..
something. I found it fun also to compose a bit more disturbing, unpredictable music. I don't know if you played music like "Bela bartok", but it is different than the more classic music, the rythme, the accords ext. Try and find some of that music, and compose a song a different way. The sound (as complete) will be strange at first, but if you get a hang on it, you get a sort of new perspective with composing music. and find the balance between the known and the *new* just how you want it to be
I know it's a little bit weird, but can you make a tutorial of it?

this is boring , like alot of other peoples "own compositions" its sounds too commercial, too pop music like the other peoples "own compositions" , ive heard this style before, its been done too much, most of the time i hear repeated chord progressions, dirges, i wanna hear some counterpoint, you need to compose music where the bass and treble is its own independent melody or voice, not just come up with a predictable left hand progression with a slow right hand accompaniment

Lol, you don't know what your talking about ^^.. funny :D
1 point i agree, if the bass is a repeted sequence, then it do sounds a lil boring. All other things you said were very immature

you should be a film music writer or something.

This is wonderful, and enchanting. Somehow listening to it feels like reliving a childhood memory. I'm sorry if this makes no sense, it was just how it made me feel.

A million times better than my vid
Nice one man

Sometimes the melody fades out because of a left hand, and I thing it needs some slower, more cheerful part, this is a bit monotonous
But I like it, so I'm going to vote 4**** stars!

this is a nice piece, don't get me wrong. however, it would be great for you to step out of your comfort zone. the bass c#m A major, f# minor, to the e/G# is a nice progression, but go somewhere with it. I don't know what kind of music you listen to, but try the later beethoven sonatas, or chromatic bach pieces for examples of this. you have a good start but you could definately expand your horizons and try something "scary" it would do you a world of good compositionally.
nice job though
roper92592 2 years ago
Yes modern music uses this system very frequently for some reason. Classical music almost never used this method. When i try to compose a song it is really difficult to expand the bass line because of this "down-third, down-third down-third up-second" system stuck in my head.

It would sound so beautiful if you do it a little bit slower.

your left hand playing is totally awesome, very fluid, the melody is good, the construction is good, the sound is godd, all is good, that's a very great video here, 5stars, i love this song now ;)

Wow you are a genius! I could never do something like that!! Do you have the sheet music?

Great job. Love the bass. Reminds me of Jervy Hou.

it sounds nice:) it but it's not so complicated. You play in the same accords the whole time.
vaallkk3 2 years ago
why is that important? Music is about a moment in time. Of course it wouldnt hurt to modulate or even have ABA form... but who cares.
bae215 2 years ago
you realize that with more than 85 keys on the piano you can play more than only 4 chords!? :/
ArnoArtner 2 years ago
you realize that you have a video of a sonic the hedgehog collection?
Vudar 2 years ago
@ArnoArtner on a piano there are 88 keys not 85 ! !
alinello1 1 year ago
wrong... On a normal piano there are 85 keys, on concert-pianos there are 88 keys.
IkTheNew 1 year ago
@IkTheNew Not really try, older pianos tend to have 85 keys but any new piano I have seen/used/bought has always had 88 and many companies have be known to make keys which have more than this too.
Isythos 1 year ago
@Isythos Also that is not true... I've a piano, made in ~1880, and it got 88 keys...
IkTheNew 1 year ago
@IkTheNew Older pianos TEND to have 85 not all of them. :|

it difers some have extra base keys, you genius

First of all
Its a really nice song, I like it and it sounds great.
1Gurtjan1 2 years ago
something. I found it fun also to compose a bit more disturbing, unpredictable music. I don't know if you played music like "Bela bartok", but it is different than the more classic music, the rythme, the accords ext. Try and find some of that music, and compose a song a different way. The sound (as complete) will be strange at first, but if you get a hang on it, you get a sort of new perspective with composing music. and find the balance between the known and the *new* just how you want it to be
1Gurtjan1 2 years ago
ok, the story is bit vague, its kinde hard to write down what i mean, but anyway, its a good song.
