  • The Thin Red Line. The swimming scene.

  • Totally 28 Days Later, Come on... Anybody???

  • sounds infinitely more uplifting with thc in your system.

  • Magnifique ! Un pouce vert !

Ecoutez "Maîtrise de Nîmes In paradisum".

    C'est bien aussi !

  • Just exquisite. Thank you for posting.

  • magic ...

  • Bonito e humano.

  • This is indeed soulful and sombre, but it is exquisite even as it can bring tears to the listener. We all need to cry sometimes as well as laugh, play and sing to know and feel that we are alive. Blessings fo this...

  • Jazz isn't real music

  • @bassbass99able you're so ridiculously wrong

  • I first heard this on Inspector Morse when Morse was dieing and staggering about with his heart attack . Then I used it for my dad s funeral. I still sob when iI hear it .

  • Although in those days every composer was obliged to write a requiem, only a few made it to world wide recognition. Just like Mozart's. But. there are more then a few hundred known masses for the dead composed in de last centuries and present days. There are grimm versions but also sensual and Rock-versions. Some musicals from the last decades are in fact requiem's too. What about All That Jazz?

  • I remember reading somewhere that the music is structured somewhat like a "berceuse", or cradle song, with the lilting upward and downward notes. Imagine - paradise, a place where you are rocked along... Stunning.

  • this reminds me of The Beach Boys the surprising chord changes and amazing heavenly harmonies. Anyone like them?

  • very beautiful

  • @trecedelemos

May the angels lead you into paradise,

    May the martyrs receive you

    In your coming,

    And may they guide you

    Into the holy city, Jerusalem.

May the chorus of angels receive you

    And with Lazarus once poor

    May you have eternal rest.

  • This is a lovely piece of music. In fact, I first heard it in Emmerdale last year when Mark Wylde got killed.

  • I'd like to hear Jonsi perform this.

  • This music literally shakes my soul to the core. It is music like this that reaffirms the value of humankind and create bridges between us all. How sad this quality is slowly escaping us in the twenty first century.

  • @charlatanbaby It's not escaping us. We still have it and we have a new generation who really do appreciate this music and I'm talking of teenagers and up. No need to be sad we still have a wonderful world of wonderful talented people who need to be challenged. :)

  • @charlatanbaby haha like any other century was different. Pessimism breeds dead ends

  • Truly one of the World's outstanding compositions!

  • Twenty years since I first heard this piece, and I still get chills every single time. That's everlasting beauty. Thank you for sharing.

  • And to think: all the singers are boys.

Back then, it was believed that a young boy had a more pure voice then a girl. They even went as far as to castrate them so that they wouldn't lose the high voice when they hit puperty.

(Says my choir teacher when we began to learn this song. A beautiful piece. ^.^)

  • My favorite requien is Victoria's

  • The best requiem ever.

  • homepages.luc.edu/~avande1/requiem.htm

    lyrics: latin & english translation

  • I'm a grown man crying like a baby, how can anyone listen to this and not be moved to total admiration of genius like this

  • @Hatenbom

  • @Hatenbom I'm crying too. And I played it a few years ago.

  • @Hatenbom

ti adoro, sto piangendo anch'io come un bambino...

    I love you...

  • @Hatenbom You are not alone. This is such a wonderfully moving piece of music. Magnificently sung and perfectly harmonised. I am convinced Gabriel Faure would have let out a very deep sigh of sheer joy and would have been on his knees had he been alive to hear this. Absolutely STUNNINGLY sung!

  • @Hatenbom I hear you. I started listening to the Requiem a few months ago and I have the same experience every time. It's the most beautiful, emotional piece of music ever written.

  • Please can anyone recommend any similar haunting choral works. Big gap in knowledge and need to buy more like it!!

    Thank you!!

  • Try the Agnus Dei, by Samuel Barber.

A superb version here in youtube by the Trinity Collegue. If you're buying, get the version by The Sixteen.

    Ther songs:

    Geistliches Lied (Brahms)

Psalm 23: Gott ist mein Hirt (Schubert)

    Ave Maria (Motet), Bruckner.

    Good luck.

  • @mariliendo where i buy in shop in UK? cos i love it!

  • soothing. i could listen to this all day. can anyone tell me what its about?

  • @slimithy12 The reasons for Faure composing this are uncertain - could have been as a result of his father's death... translation... "May the angels lead you into paradise, May the martyrs receive you In your coming, And may they guide you Into the holy city, Jerusalem. May the chorus of angels receive you And with Lazarus once poor May you have eternal rest. " Hope this helps
  • thanks, i googled it in the end, so i already know now but thanks anyway :)
