Thank you for posting this. I'd been searching for this song for decades at used record shops after I heard it on late-night radio in the '70s. What a great singer.
His voice WAS the instrument... the music was just the posing as the background singers...His voice is unparallelled by anyone of any race to this day!!
The voice that could travel anywhere and speak any language and most importantly touch any soul all you have to do is listen! What a special voice and talent he was it has been said that if God travel through the sound of voice he must have used Sam to reach us then and even now!
A bit of a different sound than classics like "You Send Me" and "Wonderful World", but "The Innovator Of Soul" neva failed. There wasn't a song he couldn't sing... what's crazy is his death came in such at such an unorthodox time for em... if he were able to live on in the physical form, perhaps the entire world would hail him as the greatest to eva blow a note... I know I can't deny his melodic vocal range... the closest thing to heaven we'll get in this lifetime.
all i can say is oh my GOD!!!

Written by Louis Alter....featured in the 1936 movie "The Trail of the Lonesome Pine" starring Henry Fonda. Sam Cooke 1961 version is great.

Gone is the class of singers past, and of Sam, who truly was one of a kind.

Sam Cooke was like no other, and we are fortunate to have had him sing so many wonderful songs. How he is missed!

Sam Cooke does great covers, I didn't realize this was sung by Nat.
I'll have to listen to his version.

Excellent song. I like Nat King Cole's version better. Maybe that's because it's the one I heard first. Unfortunately I cant find it on UTube.
