It's one of the greatest song of all time, I lost my best friend and any time I listen to this song it takes me to those childhood days . These 3 are true legend
Thespadecaller thanks for the upload, the audio was very good, and the accompanying visuals were spot on, this was just as good as it gets when it comes to memorializing "Old Friends", all three singers were like visiting an almost forgotten former acquaintance, just wonderful and beautiful! Thanks also to You Tube!
RIP Daddy 2-5-10 Thanks for turning me on to merle and all the others for I would have never known had you not let me know!! I love and miss you daddy
I think this is one of the top three best songs regarding friends that there ever was! These guys are wonderful too. Makes my heart smile when I hear this. I'm blessed with many friends that I've had a few decades. WOW and I'm so young too. :0
Old friends are the BEST friends, they have loved you through it all and in spite of it all and are still around. I dedicate this song to my Old friends who have been there for me for a long, long time. I love you guys.
Reminds me of when I was a boy scout in Rinngold Georgia---pretty recently, i guess 2002-03, I'm 20 now but life is kinda sucky right now soo. good song.
Ol' friends are more than special....they share heartaches, happiness and your closest thoughts, without fear of ridicule. True ol' friends can be counted on the fingers of one hand.....this song says it all...thank you for sharing it.
Nice touch by having Ray Price singing right in the middle. He always sounds great with Willie and nicely compliments Roger. Sounds great. Thanks for posting.
mysteriousyoungman..i really and truly hope that you do have old friends someday, they are the greatest. i have some very old and dear friends that i dont get to see very often..this song makes me miss them a lot.
Harleyspoon, I just want to say God bless your father. He sounds like a hero that should always be remembered. My pawpaw was also a WWII vet who knew the value of a friend. I can't say that I have any friends that I can call "old friend", but I pray that I shall in the future. God bless old friends.
This was a featured song at my Dad's funeral in 1989...He knew these guys..Willie and Ray performed at his convention center in Waco often. He took good care of these old friends when they came ot Waco. Roger was only there once. My Dad was a WW2, Korean and Vietnam war vet. He knew what friends meant...He cherished his friends. That is why that song was so important at his funeral..the floors were wet with tears when the song ended and we finally said goodbye to Red Spoon...one of a kind.

Hi mplovejoy, You said a mouthful when you said that acquaintances are countless, but OLD FRIENDS ARE RARE TREASURES! !
I served in the military and I believe can appreciate the sentiments expressed, and who better to express them than Roger Miller
Please accept my condolences;

Long ago I went to a Ray Price concert. Roger came on stage, unannounced. What a thrill that was!
Seems all three remained friends, and all three are now in The Country Music Hall of Fame.
I miss Roger. He made me smile with his funny songs, and sigh with his songs of utter loneliness.
