yea i remember watching this, he was running from the police, and had a super huge lead because he was on a bike...so they used the chopper to follow him...first officer on the scene was a motorcycle cop. the guy lived.
this was a police chase in southern california. The news helicopter was following because the motorcycle was going too fast and it was unsafe for the police to keep chasing.
Perhaps because everyone was aware that he was being chased by the police, so people were hesitate to help the criminal & hope the police themselves to handle that guy.
