He made the best decision for those on his flight as well as those on land who could have been killed had he tried to land at one of the airports...unsuccessfully. Everwhere underneath them was filled with population...except for the river. It just had a few bridges and stuff in the way.

You have got to be kidding me. Do you get out much? Do you realize that there are approximately 7000 birds sucked into one or more engines of a jet every year? It's an act of nature. Sure, it sucks for the birds but do you think the pilots were actually aiming to hit them? This pilot, the co-pilot, the flight attendants and everyone that was involved in the rescue efforts are all heroes. They all put their lives on the line. Last time I checked there are 2 pilots up front. And at USAir because of furloughs, they were both Captains, just one more senior than the other. Great job to the entire crew for getting it down in one piece, and great job for cabin crew keeping the pax from opening the rear doors and sinking the plane before everyone could get out.

It was not the pilot, it was the plane and the ingeneers who constructed a plane that can float in the air without engines, that has a stable construction able to do emergency landings on water without breaking into pieces. And, last not least, the construction of the plane allows the plane to swim on the water. Boeings and most of the planes constructed in the US would have crashed. Sullenberger did only what he had learned.

You have got to be kidding me. Do you get out much? Do you realize that there are approximately 7000 birds sucked into one or more engines of a jet every year? It's an act of nature. Sure, it sucks for the birds but do you think the pilots were actually aiming to hit them? This pilot, the co-pilot, the flight attendants and everyone that was involved in the rescue efforts are all heroes. They all put their lives on the line. The crew puts its life on the line every single flight they take.

he not only brought the plane down safely,he had about 30 seconds to decide the best course of action. he was 100% correct in all of his actions both mentally and physically.he didn't leave until he was sure no one else was left on the plane.he deserves a thank you from all of us for his humanity.thank god for placing this heroic pilot on this plane.a man who handled the situation with perfection saving over 150 human lives.

i think if the pilot had landed on land there wouldnt have been any survivors...and landing on water is even more scary in the first place but thats a great idea...i think he is a real hero because the passengers were not even hurt even if they were a majority of them came out unhurt so he did a very good job...its a very rare sight to see passengers come out of a plane unhurt...

Last time I checked there are 2 pilots up front. And at USAir because of furloughs, they were both Captains, just one more senior than the other. Great job to the entire crew for getting it down in one piece, and great job for cabin crew keeping the pax from opening the rear doors and sinking the plane before everyone could get out.

It was not the pilot, it was the plane and the ingeneers who constructed a plane that can float in the air without engines, that has a stable construction able to do emergency landings on water without breaking into pieces. And, last not least, the construction of the plane allows the plane to swim on the water. Boeings and most of the planes constructed in the US would have crashed. Sullenberger did only what he had learned.
Arland D. Williams jr. was a heroe.
The heroe here is the plane.

You out of your mind? First of all, where did you learn to spell?! Second, the pilot had complete control of the aircraft, and without his experience, knowledge and a little bit of luck on his side, the wreck would of been much worse. The plane had 1 engine functioning, that is why it stayed in the air! It just didn't float in the air!!!! The plane swam on the water???? Where do planes go for swimming lessons? Give credit when credit is do!!

I give credit to real heroes. For every nurse who risks her life in Gaza to save children from the bombs, to every doctor who is ready to help in Iraq and Afghanistan the US-murderers have devastated in the last years. On my search in Youtube I couldn't find one video from a US-citizen that gives credits to the victims of the crimes the US-soldiers comitted in the last years.

i couldn't believe what i was seeing on tv yesterday. before the people were taken out of the plane, my heart was breaking for those people. but god was on those peoples side to have such as wonderful , and skillful pilot at the wheel when this horrible incident happended. it is miracle combined with the skills this pilot and his crew displayed during this terrifying moment.
