I dare say, this is an invalid comparison? Comparing the D90 to the D3 is like comparing a Datsun to a Lamborghini Reventon. They're clearly both aimed at different kinds of photographers - amateur/enthusiast to professional. The D3 is a great camera, no doubt about that but I'd settle for a D90 or even a D7000 because I'm not looking into splashing huge amounts of cash on something I only consider a hobby, not a profession.

Hold down the shutter button (Next to the AF button on the top). NOT the actual shutter....

Whilst holding down scroll the back wheel until is says "H". This will allow you to fire 4.5 fps.

You really don't need to spend that much money on a camera such as the D3 unless you're specifically doing sports photography. Other than that, the D90 is by far the best all around camera for it's price. I love the D90

Yeah I was looking at buying a D90 or a D3 and as I was looking at the specs, I realized that the D3 is really, really, really similar to the D90 minus a few things that wouldn't make a difference. But as far as quality, it's the same exact specs. And thanks! I was studying world religion back in school and I was really interested in knowing more about Hinduism. Seems as if we can relate to life's perspectives.

Full sensor vs cropped. The incredible high ISO performance of the D3 vs the respectable ISO performance of the D90. The D3 is weather sealed, the D90 is not. The FPS matched with ISO performance on the D3 makes it an excellent sports camera, the D90 is not. The tonal range of the D3 is better, the camera offers better features like time-lapse photography, and the D3 allows you to edit raw images in the body. Do I need to go into superior metering, white balance and the view finder as well?

My point exactly. It's a great sports camera...I'm not a sports photographer, so fast shutter speeds won't do me any good. As far as time lapse, I don't do that either. As far as in-camera editing; I have software for that. As far as the ISO, it's extremely similar; no MAJOR difference. You listed me things that I wouldn't use

The ISO performance is NOT similar to the D90.  I own a D90 and am very familiar with its low light performance. Don't kid yourself, the D90 is not a professional camera. The vastly superior ISO performance matched with the full frame sensor makes the D3 a photographer' dream. You either do not own a dslr or have no idea what I'm talking about if you think these cameras are at all similar.

Yes it does. It is relevant because you said a D90 is not a professional camera. A person who owns a D3x may say a D300 is not a professional camera and their photos can look like complete shit compared to a person who uses the D300. But anyways, I own a D60. Had it for a year or so and ready to upgrade.

Sure. I don't do a lot of indoor shooting. I have software that corrects white balance and the 51 AF and full frame sensor is nice...Don't get me wrong and the word "superior" is an opinionated word. So do explain why you say the view finder is "superior" in your opinion.

It sounds like you need to do some more research before your purchase. The D90 is great and I'd highly recommend it. For the money, it's arguably better than the D300. The D700 is awesome and that's as much as I'd spend on a camera given my needs, though the D90 gives me enough performance where an upgrade is not warranted for a loooong time. Good luck with the purchase.

I think that is an excellent comparison being that many custom sports car have more power and better handling than an Indy car. But the point would be, what was the point you bought it for in the first place. Racing in ovals,(Sports photography) or what have you. But in the end, I believe that it would be much more wise to invest in the lenses which would allow you to shoot sports.. a good f2.8 400mm would be the best for sports. Buy a good lens instead.

Ok, you should put the grip on the D90 to give it a few fps more, D3 has it already built in by default and it makes him much taller...yes, and the same lens of course...that would decrease the size diference by avg 70%.

Lol. I have D90 with MB-D80 too so i don't understand it. I even took one battery out of grip and i see no difference. In D90 specifications we can read that it has 4,5fps and that's all. When you read D300 tests there is mentioned that when you add grip, burst mode become faster.
