I saw this movie when I was living in Japan and visited Hiroshima at the age of 10. I can tell you that 10 years later, I still remember this part of the movie and found myself traumatized by it...

i can only hope videos like this have made it across to viewers in china and other countries that fell under Japan's invasive cruelty in WWII- especially the younger audience. They have a right to be angry about the lack truth in japanese text books regarding Nanjing and other places invaded. It did not, however, rape women and children to death, chop them to pieces and (in a very few cases to be fair, it's not like this was the norm) eat them. Look I agree that the nukes were horrible, but the alternative was a land invasion, which would have been a lot worse. The japanese slaughter was disgusting, pointless, and actively committed by people.

There were no "good" guys on war, that´s impossible, at the very least there were "less evil" guys than others. i can only hope videos like this have made it across to viewers in china and other countries that fell under Japan's invasive cruelty in WWII- especially the younger audience. The reason stated here for dropping the bombs on Japan is that bombing stopped war and saved millions of lives. But face the facts - in 1945, Germany was defeated, so Japanese would have to fight not with USA only, but with Russia too, It means war against the whole world. Do you think Japanese would do it? Sometimes in war there are no nice ways to win. WWII was an exhibition of man's capacity for cruelty, and I pray we never see a war like it again.

There was also experimentation on Japanese civilians, which claimed hundreds of thousands of innocent lives. Research "Unit 731."
I believe what the US did was unacceptable, but I do not believe in economic sanctions for any country, because it punishes civilians. I am consistent.

I have said before that I am against sanctions, but I am also against our involvement in the UN for that very reason. The permanent solution should be removing the US from its seat of power entirely.
I would support this, because the US does not act in its own interests either when it invades or imposes sanctions on other countries.

@stovnergutt it killed people over a longer time than a conventional warhead due to secondary effects. Some of those effects were agonizing. It did not, however, rape women and children to death, chop them to pieces and (in a very few cases to be fair, it's not like this was the norm) eat them. Look I agree that the nukes were horrible, but the alternative was a land invasion, which would have been a lot worse. The japanese slaughter was disgusting, pointless, and actively committed by people.

@gangstafy But America wouldn't have done anything if they hadn't made it personal. It wasn't really about any of the douchebaggery Japan was committing in mainland Asia, it was simply about Pearl Harbor. That's the thing about America, we never really care unless it's personal... No matter how small it is.

I'm american and i don't support war, i'm all about peace, this is too inhumane, how could we do something like this? >.< war is nothing pretty to talk about, and the military upholds this evil deed. Which is why i'm all against anything about the military.

@snorlax140 without the military you probably would not exist your parents or grandparents would be dead from mass extermination and slaughter via Hitler. War is cruel, no doubt about it, but sometimes it is indeed necessary. Although the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were overkill. That much I can agree on, but to say that the military is completely unnecessary is to deny the fact that there is actual evil in the world that is worth destroying.
