@braider1100 That is a normal to lowish price, maybe a little high since you haven't had a ton of experience with it (sounds that way anyway). My closest dread salon charges an arm and a leg, here in Tampa Bay, for about $425. I'm not IN the actual city of Tampa, a suburb about 25-30 miles away. I hope that helps!

you wanna know the best and most natural way to do it??? Braid your hair, and give it about 3-5 years and it will be the most amazing dreads ever, if you sit there and find ways to speed up the process they will only loosen, just braid your hair and you will have thick nice dreads trust me its better to wait and not use glue and shit, but dont get me wrong back combing is a good way to start but the best way is to braid your hair

DO NOT EVER USE WAX!!!!! I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS EVEN A HAIR STYLIST LIKE HER! no matter how much they talk it up and say all kind of snazzy things about the wax and that its a HUGE NO NO! u can make amazing, lost lasting dreads without the wax and starter kit. get a comb or brush of ur liking that is good for backcombing (teasing) and maybe a crochet hook if u want to incorporate the ends. u can also cut the tips off or roll them up into a knot. but again please please please no wax! :)

I have dreads and i used Bees Wax. And I have had no problem it took about 5 washes and all of the wax came out. Although we did not use rubber bands. I have heard people of using them to section but cutting them out after a couple of weeks. Becuz if not the whole dread will fall out.

Twisting doesn't help all that much, you need to backcomb well, palmrolling can cause root damage and generally doesn't aid much, and rubber band at the end will not help, they can get stuck and swallowed in the hair. Hair needs to move to knot, no wax, no bands, time and patience. To give it credit, this video is better than most BUT, not great. check out dreadlocktruth . com
