well she should give him the spurs FIRST. that`s with lazy horses n mules. my way: 1st: leg pressure, 2. spurs (notmal feet), 3rd: one rein (ride western). Doesn`t hurt the horse but you have to keep the same procedure till the horse follows you. but then you have to stop :) easy way
The mule is smarter then the people make the bad comments, cause they mule is not jumping off the side of thetrail in the bottom or is he going crazy on the rider. Another thing the people make this comments on mule that are bad i have mules that will out perform alot horse on anything from barrels to trails to poles or even taking then on rides in the mountains. Dont miss your time man, use a sharp long no-rolling pair of spurs and you will see the horse taking you fast to the top.
