@thespeez I had to look it up too. What I learned was that PS is a unit inveted in Germany and widely adopted in Europe. 1 PS = 0.986 bhp. So, PS is 98.6% of horse power. There's only 1.4% difference, and Europe had to invent a new unit for it. Screw them. >:(
This is the way how Kawasaki compete against Thriumph, to capture the European customers. I like to watch this kind of versatility to build fantastic machines :)
@Grvthang Not for 2012 (at least not yet). Hound Kawasaki with requests to bring it here and they might do it! If there's a motorcycle show near you this winter, make sure you attend and tell Kawasaki's reps. this!
Think would like one of these to go with my cb 1300s Honda. In the late 60's had Jap 250's but saw the old bonnies buzzing around "slowley". This look nicely finished but would I soon get frustrated with the lack of power?
I love this ! I ride a Harley but I love all companies I just hate the million Harley clones out there I wouldnt be cought dead on a Kawasaki that looked like a Harley but I would ride the wheels off of this beautiful throw back to the cafe racers of old! Bravo on such a great bike Id give it ten thumbs up if they let me!
I liked the look at it in the shop and was thinking about a test ride - until I saw this add and thought, "Would I be a pretentious pratt like the guy in this video too if I bought one?"
@BringItOnYFD that would be great I'm sure, but hen I think Kawasaki might miss their target audiance. Still, I would prefer to watch a good looking girl ride the bike than that guy.
@BringItOnYFD that would be great I'm sure, but then I think Kawasaki might miss their target audiance. Still, I would prefer to watch a good looking girl ride the bike than that guy.
Looks nice but the Guzzi V7C sounds a hell of a lot fruitier than that sewing machine sound, shame as would probably have one over the Bonneville, ah well, I will stick to my Guzzi :)
I too was disappointed by the sound. The w650 sound awesome. Is it just the pipes on this one (although stock on the older models sound sweet?) or does the maker of this promo really not understand the importance of the bike's sound?
Zudem die olle gabel, die schlechte/weiche, hat immer noch keine Doppelscheibe!
Also: Null Sound, schwache Bremse, weiche Gabel.
zudem kein Abs.
Excellent! Wonderful!! I love this kind of motorcycles. I've a new Triumph Bonneville T100. I'd like very much they bring it to my country, Argentina. But I don't believe in fairy tales.
This is a nice ad for Davida helmets, but if this was an advertisement for the W800, the producers would have focused more on the sound of the bike than drowning it out with stupid elevator music.
A Japanese bike, in England, on German plates..... Truly Kawasaki has gone international with this one. Looks like they've succeeded. Triumph should be afraid.
@dctim Triump is still sweet, I must admit this Kawasaki did impress me though. There is a bike for every genre and this Kiwi will do well. I think the times of only the kool bikes are Vtwins is over and it's all about knees in the breeze. If I trade in my Triumph do I get a fine chick like that?
I owned a W650 and it was a great ride - design, finish and quality top notch - and great engineering to top it all off. The thing about W650/W800 being "fake bonnevilles" is just bs. The hinckley triumphs are just as "fake". Hinckley bought the brand name and built a completely new motorcycle around it - and then priced it too high. What it comes down to is engineering and design. "Heritage" is just an excuse to rip off customers.
Pleople must consider and know the "W1" model built in '65 by Meguro, then Kawasaki. Concerning modern models, Bonneville was born in 2001, W650 in 1999. Sorry for my english :-)
Stop making this bland triumph rip off, and start making some bad ass flat tracker or cafe style motos!
This promotional video is painfully generic, and so is this bike. There is no story, no context, no culture. Just a douche in black set to some generic guitar riffs.
Get real Kawa! Find out what we really want. It is not this. ALSO WHERE IS THE KICK START?! At least it will be a decent platform for modification. God bless LSL.
@clevername333 wwoooahhhhh ... Mr . Smartass telling the world what s wrong and right .... bet my ass you got to be American.... big mouth no action.....
Nice bit of kit. Subtle design changes from the W650, none of which are wrong. If I was dissatisfied with my 2002 W650, I'd go for one. But I'm not so I won't, just yet... No kickstarter! I needed mine _once_ when the original battery went on the blink after 7 years of ownership. Bleedin' boring Jap build quality...
The W800 is a great move for Kawasaki, along with the ZX-250r ninja. They're not heaping all their eggs in the one basket with just High-Perform sport bikes.
