yes Heer Marine and Luftwaffe. Yes the luftwaffe was used to support the advancing groundforces during the blitzkrieg. Its true that some planes where used as wehrmacht part such as the hs 123 or the fw189. But all the stukas where from the Stg's especialy those who are seen in this movie. The later versions such as the G types with heavyer guns and even the 37mm pak35 gun where used in the slachtgeschwader. Later the FW 190 took this job.

This was meant as psychological warfare, particularly when they were bombing columns of troops or refugees. The sound, to this day, scares the crap out of people. Imagine what it would have been like to hear these noises coming from above.

I have of course heard this sound before but never really paid attention to it. After I watched "Wings Over Europe", I realized that it served only one purpose. It doesn't make the plane faster, more accurate, or more maneuverable. It's only purpose is to scare the holey living shit out of the people on the ground.
